It has been mentioned before that discussing circumventing protections is not allowed.

Similarly we're not allowed to discuss how to get around watching BBC iPlayer, etc.

Maybe JSC-cards.com defo the best price for renewals but maybe cheaper getting the card on geebay. Of course hold off for a week or so though in case they move the whole thing from 13e

I highly doubt they will move off hotbird. There is going to be 6 HD channels as far as the jsc-cards website says.

If JSC stayed on Hotbird, it could be a case that only +1 to +4 will remain, as +5 to +10 will have EPL...

Of course it's all speculation. Did I read somewhere that JSC was to rebrand as BeIN, like in France?

I think that was just gossip. I cant see how they would rebrand Bein as that seems to be doing its own thing.

We will have to wait and see, we might be very surprised or very dissapointed. If it sways the disappointed way, then its a sad day in broadcasting history that such monopolies can have so much clout to dictate who does what and when and to who. Europe (EEC) really sucks sometimes. So much for us becoming one happy family!

Renewed my Jsc card last week, finally got it to update last night using SCAM... Just a bit sickened that I could possibly have got the 6 HD channels if I waited!!... Going to get a setanta and bt sub aswell and that should sort out the footie for the year even if jsc don't have epl on 13 east, they have la liga, seria a and Ligue 1 to keep me happy!

Q: Will the English Premier League be available on Hotbird?

    A: No.

Q: Can I upgrade or renew an existing Al Jazeera Sport card to view the Premier League?

A: Yes, but again, not for Hotbird.

Q: Will the card work with an existing Abu Dhabi Box?

    A: YES..

From ljs I take it. Funny how he knows yet jsc cards and all the other main retailer sites have not been informed as decision has not been made yet? He said similar about tring cards last time and was proved wrong. Just the usual guessing game based on probability by him

It was one of the stipulations of any MENA agreement.

    Not receivable in Europe.

The other was an anti CS proprietary box (Viaccess 5 will be used).

Roll on August 1st by which time they should have sorted out schedules and channels. Put all this speculation to bed so we can go about enjoying the footy :-)

Has it ever been confirmed to be part of the stipulations or was it universally assumed to be part of it?

    +1

Including the same content as now on the two HD channels!

    The new boxes

    Humax HD Free
    Humax IR-3000HD
    Humax VA2000HD

HD EPL only on Nilesat apparently.

Cards Pics starting to appear already up on one or two sites (expire May 2014).

Does that mean the EPL will be on Hotbird but not in HD? Would be an ok compromise in my book!

It will be up in a few hours officially, but from what I have read, HD EPL stations being kept on Nilesat and proprietary boxes being used.

Lots lost in translation that could be misinterpreted. It seems that Hotbird for some SD EPL may remain open for a short period til May and boxes then kick in everywhere.
