I sent them two more emails (no replies) and decided to reorder. Just got the receipt for the new order, so we'll see if they can get their shit together this time. Wankers.

That's feckin lousy after waiting your 2 weeks to have to start from scratch again. I honestly feel for you. I'm on my second order too, but I'm going to try and hold out to see what happens when my 1-2 weeks are up (23/2/13). Keep us posted with any developments.

Has anyone who got the phone managed to receive the new update? As I still have not received it.

Cool, was just getting a little worried that maybe our phones might not be getting it :)

My tablet received it the night before - So I wouldn't worry :p

    Try this:

Go to settings -> apps -> google services framework -> Clear Data -> force quit. Then try to update. That should work.

    :)

Thanks a bunch man. That worked a treat, just after installing it, hoping the battery life gets extended a bit :)

I might be getting one im not sure yet, If I do it would be the 8GB one, how much out of that is usable storage? is it worth the extra £40 for the 16GB one?

It depends on your personal usage patterns whether it's worth it or not. How do you use your current smartphone? If this is your first, you'll be fine with 8GB if you want to save money.

I went for the 16GB version just because that's the amount of space I have now with my current phone. There's no way to increase the storage at a later stage since there's no sd card slot, so I'm paying extra so I don't have to worry about having to micro-manage stuff later on.

edit: This is for a 8GB Nexus 7, the tablet. I imagine the usable storage is similar

This extremely useful spreadsheet probably needs a bumping, ten pages back to the last link.

I'm very close to ordering this now, think I'll bite the bullet in the next couple of days..

Has anyone tried using a virtual credit card for the payment (3V or Entropay). It looks like too much hassle to change the credit card address.

Would it not be easier to get someone in England buy it for you & give them the money, seems like a lot of aggro for people here

Was going to pay via Entropay but they charge 4% I think to put funds on the card. Ringing your bank and adding the address is definitely the better option. I didnt change my billing address - just added the PM one to the account. Took a few minutes over the phone

Have done nowt bit open box and lift out as I have things to do but on first impression, it looks a lot like the Galaxy Nexus which I currently have...
.. Will have a closer look later on...

Can't get Tunnelbear to work for me. It begins configuring and then gets disconnected. Anyone know why this is/how to resolve?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 colmpb

This just gets worse and worse for me. My play store has defaulted to the UK store (because of having the UK postcode attached to my billing address I guess), tried like others to buy a few apps, but now my account is on hold and app purchases cancelled. Phone order still at pending/pre-order. Have sent a message to google asking what gives, but not sure if I should cancel everything, delete my card and start again from scratch or wait to see what google comes back with. Any advice from anyone who's gone through this??

Just put my second attempt through. This time, changed my boi cc to PM's address. Fingers crossed

Google are a fucking joke. If this was an ordinary eBay seller I would have them reported long ago and they wouldn't be getting away with this shit.

Update: Just this very moment. It looks like they've recieved my order!

€288 for the 8GB with shipping, €3.50 for PM of course - €44 for 100GB Google Drive space for 1 year + 25GB Gmail + unlimited instant uploads of video and pictures to Google+ / Picasa + 20000 songs on Google Music, might save you a few bob overall ;)

    Thanks.
I have Google music and it's great on wifi .
It's my commuting to work that's the problem . Only a 500mb data plan so I have to keep swapping out music on the phone.

Did you change your Bank Of Ireland Credit Card billing addres to PM through the phone?
I was going to add a 2nd billing addres for my boi Debit Visa Card through the phone and they said to me, that I have to go to my branch and change existing address only:/

Three are doing a bill pay deal which is ~250mins, 200 texts and unlimited data (15 GB fair usage) for 20.33 euro a month at the moment.

I would love to get one of these. But the problems everyone is having with ordering and waiting so long is putting me off completely! And I have only scanned through a few pages.

Ya I did. They said it would only be a temporary addition, but I figure it'll be grand for this transaction.

Sorry just picking up on the last few pages... Does your billing address have to be a uk address? I currently live in the uk but as my job involves moving around a lot, my billing address is alway my parents house in ROI. I would be getting it delivered to the uk though.

I think most people here have been changing the billing address in the order process to be the same as the delivery address (parcel motel for most people). I did that and nothing else - I didn't ring my bank to add the uk address as a valid billing address for example. So i'd say just change the billing address to your current UK address and see what happens...

As I said earlier, everyone at this stage has a friend or family member in England, the phones a text & a bank transfer away for anyone that wants it.
