Do your ITV stations revert to channel 998 after 10 or so minutes?
    Would love to get a work-around as I can't get the quick-rewind to work:mad:

Since the update last week anything I have in the favourites (blue button) reverts to the intro channel after about 20 seconds or less. I was watching BBC2 Wales the other night and off it went too.

No problem with recordings, just the viewing.

Yeah seems to affect some more than others. I've watched some stuff for a while on the Favs without it reverting back. Other times it kept doing it. I wonder if a signal has been sent to make the box 'check' the inserted card's entitlements more often and if the channel viewed is not normally on the EPG, revert back to Ch998 (just like when you swap the card).

    Wish that happened me:(
I still have the channels on my EPG but I lost ITV HD with the upgrade and I can't tune it back in again, the old EPG is much better than the new one.

Box got another update again last night an Amstrad DRX890 to R005.053.70.12P and the card trick is still working fully using a NI card.:D

Ok so I have just got my setanta card, thanks for the info about this. I have unplugged box put in ftv card restarted then swapped cards back but my stations always go back to irish epg after a few mins. If i leave in ftv card i get english epg. What am I doing wrong? Chances are that you have the new epg now so the channels will not stay. What you need to do is unplug your box, put the setanta card in and start it up. When you have it started, add all of the channels that you are interested in to your "other channels" menu via "add channels". You can get to this easily by pressing the "services button". The tuning details are in the sticky at the top of the forum. Once you have that done, you need to add the channels you want to the favourites menu. I think this is via the "services" button also if memory serves me correctly. Just follow the instructions and select the ones you want (ITV 1-4, Channel 5,5usa, 5*, four 7 etc) (with the yellow or green button, cant remember which) and save them before you leave. Now, go to channel 103. It should be ITV. Press the off button on your sky remote. Swap the cards back and turn it back on. After a few minutes the Irish EPG should load but if you press the blue button a few times it should scroll through the favourites you've just added.

They are a bit different from the photo I took earlier in the year for some reason and that could be why the card trick has started working.

You shouldn't post your viewing card and receiver ID numbers...

Thanks so much for such a detailed answer. I'll try that later

Are you sure that the UK card was inserted properly? Try again as RTE can't appear with a UK card

Box updated last night to R005.053.70.15P and can confirm that the full card trick is still working using a Ni card.

Are many people experiencing problems with the box after doing "the trick"?

My sister tells me that her box, which had the software updated a couple months ago, is now freezing a few times a week. She is using a Granada region card and records quite a bit from the ITV1 channel.

Im using the same card and apart from one or two reboots over the last few months I never had any issues myself but then again I seldom record the UK channels.

Mine will sometimes go to the Sky intro channel 998 when watching one of the blue button channels, meaning I have to change it back via the blue button which is a slow process waiting for the box to respond. Doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. It did it once over Xmas on BBC news then hasn't since.

I was getting those problems on one of my boxes about 6 weeks ago but it seems to have settled down again. Such a pity they changed the epg I really liked the old setup. Ah well, nothing last forever I suppose!!

To all those that are doing this using the blue button to record keep redoing the card trick once a week or every couple of weeks. My box was updated in the summer and after that I could only record that way up until two months ago I had to do the card trick again after a power cut and I discovered the trick channels back on the epg again with no obvious reason for it. Only for the power cut I would never have known that it had come back working.

Is it a UTV region card you're using?

Yes it is, I posted plenty here after the update and read about only a UTV card working by I couldn't get it to work. I gave up in the end and just used the blue button. I recon the box must have got an update that let it work.

Sorry I was being lazy in that I was trying to avoid rooting through the posts again to see what type of card it was. ;)

I thought it was a UTV one alright and I seem to recall that most people using this card still retained the channel on the EPG after the update.

Not me unfortunately!! Could anyone who has the trick channels on the epg post their epg/box type please? I might do a forced update with my UTV card and try for the trick epg.......

I got my hands on an old Sky NI Card, rebooted box with it and up came BBC 1/2 NI and UTV. However it did not store them onto the EPG.

You need to have those channels saved already as 'other channels',when they are saved, plug out the box & insert the NI card, wait until the NI EPG fully loads, save the 'other channels' as favourites, turn off the box & put back in your normal Sky card,viola-the 'other channels' are available via the blue button.

I had the old card trick working with an old Granada card I have, that works with the blue button trick...but I was hoping the the NI region card would put the channels back on my EPG.

I found this photo of my system details that I took a week after the box was updated with the new EPG and the card trick would not work.

Tonight I took this one(apologies for bad quality). The model no is different and the manufacturer has changed from Amstrad to Sky and Receiver ID has been added and the number 3 has been added in to the serial no and the card trick is working with it with the channels on the EPG.

I got a FTV card from Newcastle this morning and it works great. However it has very limited functionality due to Sky's new EPG. I have them in favourites the blue button and then only the channels which are already manually tuned in via "Other Channels" however most importantly when I removed the UK card and replaced it with the Irish card I was able to get a recording started on Channel4HD and that was the most important.

I will do some more playing around this evening but for me it is worth it has I can have recording functionality of the few channels I want.
