God I hate rude kids - my cousins birthday is tomorrow (she'll be 14), and I'm currently staying with them so of course had planned to get her a card and a present. She turned around today and said "Oh I presume you have my present in your suitcase... Just kidding! (But clearly not). I actually don't want to give her the present now! My mam would actually have murdered me on the spot if I'd had the cheek to say something like that

Oh dear god, no. Just no. I couldn't do that. I look like an alien. I hate pictures. Videos are just evil.

I am not looking forward to it!

I do have sedatives though. One of them and a class of rum and I'll be graaaaand :pac:

One of my team mates works for a local rum company, he's providing the refreshments :D

That book sounds like some highly readable stuff!

Das I really wanna read whatever it is you are writing.

I told the lads in work I was getting extensions and every Monday since then one of them always comments on how nice and long my hair is. Still haven't got the extensions. I reckon they are just afraid that if I do get them and they don't say something I'll turn into a moan bag !

Sitting supervising a continuous assessment in a room that is like a sauna. :(
Another great weekend at the lake. Got a lovely red patch on my back where I wasn't flexible enough to put on my own sunscreen!

Last I heard on the dinner party front was that my mother was going to talk to my father about it and it'd be ok. They've headed off no so it looks like it'll be going ahead! HUZZAH! Now I just need to check with my brother if it's ok with him, my sister already said she'd be fine with it.

I don't know what to do for the menu, one fried suggested we do a pot luck style thing but that could be hassle with them getting everything to my house, they'd all have to bring the food in taxis and if they bring pots they might not work on our induction hob. As for food I'm a bit stuck. I promised I'd make some people mussels years ago, but two of the people probably coming don't like mussels (or any seafood.) I could do the sweet potato and chorizo soup again. For a main course I don't know, maybe the Belgian beer stew I made a few weeks ago, with spuds and carrots. Two of the people probably coming bake so they'd probably be happy to make a cake.

Biggest plans though is I should have my HTPC arrived by then. I'll have it set up on the telly in the kitchen. A stream of kitten cam going, emulators with Mario Kart going. Eee! So fun!

For the main course, the Belgian beer stew sounds nice. Anything that doesn't need lots of attention from you at the end (leaving you stuck in the kitchen away from your guests) is a good thing!

Going to ring the hairdresser at 10, need a haircut badly. It's starting to really annoy me. Hopefully they can fit me in today.

Bah. The tracking on my package is unclear and I don't know if it's out for delivery today. And there's no number to ring for UPS that doesn't just give me an automated service.

Just my usual bob cut. It's got a bit longer than I'm used to so just really looking forward to getting it chopped. I dyed it last week so it's gonna be nice and fresh.

    "Falling Down" moment imminent...

So my tutor came back to me on the ridiculous situation regarding her referencing examples being completely different to the MHRA system. Her response was:

"Base your bibliography on the guidelines contained in the Oscail document 'Referencing for Lit Modules' which you should download from Moodle in the assignment area .... that was prepared by a number of Oscail tutors this summer to give a more tailored guidance to students - the MHRA style guide itself is too general to be helpful, we found."

So they've completely moved the goalposts from what we were told to do last year. I'm fcuking livid.

I feel like going postal just reading about that, you must be on the edge. Jeebus H.

I just replied "So a total change from what we were told to do last year - great!"

Not a good idea to get snotty with the woman who'll be grading my assignments for the year, I know, but I had to say something.

I don't blame you, to be honest. Why can't she just pick a system and stick with it. Even if it's a crap system at least you know where you are.

It's just one of those phrases my mother used growing up that I had no idea where it originated. Other examples are:

Home James, and don't spare the horses.
    Language, Timothy.
    Meanwhile, back at the ranch.

(I know where the above come from now, thanks to the interwebs, but still no idea why she says ladies wot lunch.)

Charley-horse (said in an upperclass English accent) was one of ours. No explanation for it!
