I have to admit, cinematic music for dramatic parts of missions is something that doesn't sit well with me. Sounds very Metal Gear Solidy or something.

I liked that in GTA, regardless of what was happening, it was still a 'real world' and I could choose to do what i wanted, when I wanted in missions, without a soundtrack trying to prompt me. I also hate (in film and games) when the music comes on and informs you of when there's an enemy nearby (this also makes me think that they're gonna remove the enemy 'blips' from the radar, so you'll have to find them yourself).

I didnt finish GTAIV - is the ballad of Gay Tony worth a shot to prepare for this? Do I need to have the original IV game to play BOGT?

Oh, also, on the trailer, my thought is that trailer 2 was to focus on one of the other protagonists, but seen as it was supposed to have been out since before GameInformer and other magazines for their oar in, and seen as it suddenly took them 2 weeks to release the trailer (even though it was already made), I reckon they scrapped it and started again and now the trailer is post-GI (as opposed to pre-GI, as it would have been).

I could be wrong, though. I think everyone's expecting this trailer to focus on a different protagonist, and that's what's making me think R* will go a different direction (we all know R* don't want to be 'obvious' or 'predictable').

If it is another protag though, I think Trevor will be kept til trailer 3. He seems the most interesting/oddball, and it also means they get to hold off on showing off the countryside for a little longer (and people are very curious to see that).

Whereas with Franklin they can slap a grove street reference in there and everyone'll be in love with them.

Did you play RDR? It worked brilliantly in that. Especially in one of the final missions

Riding your horse through the snow and that to where your wife is to bring her home.
That music in the back was chilling. It gave it a feeling it certainly wouldn't have had be it not for the music.
And then I thought it would be the end of the game. No more loose ends and it was the final mission. Oh how wrong was I!

Well, the second question is yes and no. You can pick up Episodes From Liberty City, which is both Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned on one disc/download (original IV not needed).

And it's because I think R* always said they strive to make games the best they possibly could be, and with the amount they have to play with in terms of the games' size, that definitely couldn't be crammed into a single year of development. Unlike the yearly piece of boring indifference Activision tend to release since Modern Warfare 1 came out.

You dont need gtaIV to play gay tony I don't think if you have the disc. If you download it you do.

I agree with what you're saying, but I do think there was an intentional delay with this to avoid people getting fed up.

I'm certain V will be a great game, but I don't think, when you play it, you'll be able to say "well I can see why it took five years".

(just to note, I'm not saying 5 years is actually a long time for this type of game, but considering they've done it before in less time, so I'm speaking relatively).

In RDR the score worked wonderfully. It really gave the game added atmosphere and personality. I expect any score on GTA V to provide a similar role and enhance the game.

I enjoyed car customisation myself, actually. Wanted that to return (though to be fair it's not actually been ruled out yet, officially).

Character customisation (weight, etc.) isn't in though (but you can change clothes).

Less than two minutes...
