I'm 24 myself. I've been hooked on GTA since GTA 1. I always thought I got it for my birthday (in June), but I never checked the game's release date before. It came out in October, so I must have gotten it for some other event (definitely wasn't Christmas).

I know I definitely got it when it was new, though, because I was big into it even before it came out. I remember seeing a BBC news report showing gameplay and commenting on the fact that the game lets you play the criminal (a "bold new direction" at the time, evidently). They had a politician talking about it, too, on the news, I think.

So I'd have been 9 at the time (and I didn't even turn out to be a psychopathic serial killer - what a let down!). I've been obsessed with the games ever since. GTA III was something I found amazing, both from the perspective as a joe soap gamer, and from the "why would they put so much effort into a game like this (and I still to this day can't figure out what made them make 3 islands, add boats and planes, insane stunt jumps, rampages, a 6-star wanted level, incredibly well-written story, etc. into a game that could've gone nowhere. I was always surprised by Rockstar's tremendous effort put into III).

I used to play a lot of videogames, from Toy Commander and 18 Wheeler on the Dreamcast, Goldeneye and Mario 64 on the N64, WWE SvR on the PS/2/3 and Project Gotham and Hitman on the Xbox and 360, etc. but GTA is the only game that ever really got me excited in the build up to it's release, and its the only game I really play these days. I had a 360 (until it red-ringed). I own WWE SVR from 2009 and GTA IV for it, and IV was played regularly (and I still play about with it every now and again on the PC, though my PC can't really run it too well).

Looks like I'll have to pick up a PS3 for V, but I know that I'll play it so much and get so many hours out of it that it will be worth the purchase.

I don't get madly over the top excited about GTA things until they're impending (ie; I'll just put today's trailer out of my mind and distract myself, but when around 3pm comes, it'll be the longest hour of my life and I'll be looking at the clock every couple of minutes :P ).

I don't think anyone should be awkward or embarrassed about getting excited for a videogame, regardless of age. Some people get excited when they collect action figures or dolls or stuff and there's a new release. Other people drool at the prospect of adding a new train to their attic model railway, some people queue for hours outside a seated event in the O2 for whoever they're going to see... To each their own, but I'd say GTA is a fairly worthy contender for things that deserve needless and excess hype! :P

    OOOOHHH I Can't wait!!!

How bad does the temper get giving up the smokes? I cant imagine its a good feeling when combined with waiting for this game to come out, or even waiting for a concise release date

I'm only 20, so the more senior citizens of this forum in their 30's have given me the new found hope of not having to grow up for at least another 15 more years :D

20, so there isn't that big a gap between us, but I always thought you were older. :pac:

Next thing you know CMpunked will say he's just turned 18 or something. o_O :P

In terms of excitement, I'm at GTAIV levels of excitement right now. And I got that game the day after I got summer holidays, and proceeded to log 120 hours gameplay in a week...

So yeah, I am excite! :D

Wooooo first GTA game I can buy legally. :D

Being playing GTA since III. S.A was always my favourite.

Loved driving the trucks with trailers and trying to reverse into places. :)

    Can't wait!

Only 20 as well, and I haven't ripped shit up GTA style..... YET! :pac: If I remember correctly I got always the GTA releases at Christmas, barring GTA IV, which was launch day, couldn't be waiting 7 or 8 months for that one now. I'm quite excited myself, might tune into IGN's coverage in a couple of hours too; although I do have an SQL database that deparately needs finishing! :o

So given the (relative) rush of information that has come out in the past week, who thinks this trailer will blow us all away and answer lots of questions.......and who thinks it will leave only more questions than we originally started with!

If they do it right, it will answer a few questions or elaborate on the previews so far and leave us with lots of further questions.

I'm dreading a post trailer quite spell of some significance.

I think it will just be from one of the other 2 guys perspective and not really any new groundbreaking info. TBH I'm not expecting anything earth shattering, I mean what could they announce that would have us being like OMG?

I'm offering odds of 8/1 that the trailer will show Grove Street

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,327 ✭✭✭splashthecash

As someone already said somewhere...I hope they dont just rehash the screenshots they provided over the last week....something new giving an insight as to the world we will be in, and also maybe a sneak peak at the functionality regarding switching between the characters would be cool

    :D

Given that the first trailer was focused on and narrated by Michael, one would imagine that the second might focus on one of the other protagonists. Interested to see.

How much more info did the GTAIV second trailer offer compared to the first?

    (too lazy to go look)

Well, we know the trailer will focus on one of the other two characters... I'm guessing Trevor. (can't remember if this was something I read in GI or on here or a complete guess).

I think it'll be very similar to the first one. A narration of his backstory with loads of sweeping shots over the mountains and countryside. Think it'll focus more on the surrounding areas of LS and not show much of the city.

I know it's unlikely, but it would nice for this trailer to give a definite release date!

I was thinking the same. It may say at the very end, coming May 5th 2013.

When rockstar announced the second trailers date, it had an attached pic of who I assume to be franklin with a Rottweiler.
But in it he looks quite tough, with a wife beater on and all that, but in every screenshot we've seen him in he's been wearing a horrible looking long sleeve tee under a shirt.
Probably the worst outfit in gta history.
I'm glad it never showed his feet, he's probably wearing socks and sandals!

Yup, is there a link to it by the way? I can't seem to find it on the site.

I don't care what's in the trailer, I just wanna see more of Los Santos in 'real life', not just pics

Our generation will be playing computer games where we're pensioners. Why wouldn't we be? The only reason the generations before don't is because they weren't around when they were growing up.

Video games are no less mature a past time than watching TV or reading a book.

On topic - I won't get to see the trailer until this evening. I'm sure it'll be worth waiting for though.

    Here we are:

    http://ie.ign.com/articles/2012/11/05/ign-live-presents-new-grand-theft-auto-v-trailer-revealed

Just realised it'll be 7:30AM their time... I hope this doesn't mean the livestream will be curated by the UK team... :\

As much as I like those guys, I think people on the US side are better at pulling out details.
