Something new giving an insight as to the world we will be in, and also maybe a sneak peak at the functionality regarding switching between the characters would be cool.

The character switching may be demonstrated in the first gameplay demo, probably not the second trailer.

So far what are like the 5 most key things about the new game?

    For me:
    • Three different protagonists that you can switch between both during missions and in free roam.
    • The game will have a score, not just a soundtrack.
    • Dynamic missions (like in RDR) will be back.
    • There's going to be an emphasis on missions like Three Leaf Clover from IV, with about six of these type of missions in the game, which you'll get to plan and prepare for.
    • IT'S SO F*CKING PRETTY!

    3 Characters
    A focus on big jobs/heists
A world that feels more alive compared to IV
More activities when not on mission
Biggest world in a GTA game to date

I wonder will the protagonists partake in individual missions? I really hope so.

I'm still not sold on the 3 main protagonists either, Rockstar say it will change open world games but I'm not sure. Will the protags have minds of their own in free roam? So you drive to the edge of the map to the wilderness, and then switch to let's say the old guy in downtown Los Santos, will that charachter you change from remain stationary or?

    - The three switchable protagonists (and how that's implemented) is definitely the biggie
    - Hugenormous map size if true, bigger than San Andreas, GTAIV and Red Dead Redemption combined
    - Original music as well as licensed music
    - Lots of new activities
    - And I think they said they've rebuilt the physics engine as well as changed the driving, which means the whole game will feel and control differently to GTAIV, making it worthy of the name GTAV rather than what Vice City and San Andreas were to GTA3.

It would depend on the book/game in my opinion. Heavy Rain is like a crime movie and Twilight is...well...it's Twilight.

Playing Assassins Creed should be part of the Junior Cert/Leaving Cert History Syllabus.:P

What the hell is a score istead of a soundtrack?

I think the characters will have individual missions too, and some missions might only involve two of them.

As for switching, once you switch from Michael to Trevor for example, Michael then becomes a NPC and will walk around and do stuff. So when switching from one to another, you'll never know what that character is doing when you switch to them. They carry on with their lives when you're not controlling them.

So you might be Michael and think "I'll switch to Franklin", but when you see the map you might think "Wait, Trevor is now near the airport, I'll switch to him instead and steal a helicopter"

The fact that they continue on when you're not controlling them could actually give you ideas on stuff to do if you just want to mess around.

Remember the music that came in half way through RDR? Also, there may be some dramatic music in the middle of missions.

    Not just the radio stuff!

Yeah its better that they have minds of their own, I like that!

Even though I already hate the hick character he has one advantage. I like to play the game 'realistically' so for rampages and stuff he could be more of the bad/insane guy to do that with.

Like in GTAIV Niko was a cold killer but I don't think inherently was the type of guy to go down to Times Square and kill innocent peds.

Original music made for the game. So a film soundtrack might be where there are songs from recognised bands playing during the movie, but a film score is the stuff that the composer has come up with to actually suit the movie.

So for GTA, if they're working a lot on making a score, it could be that they're making original music to play maybe during some missions and stuff to heighten the experience, or have radio stations with made-for-GTA music

No they wont. If you've ever played The Sims you'll be familiar with the concept. When you switch from one protagonist to another, the 2 not under your control will be controlled by AI and go about their own business. So when you switch back they'll be doing something completely different in possibly another location.

Going by what GI said that my best understanding of it anyway.

I think you might be surprised at the refreshing change in gameplay that switching characters will have. Only during missions will you be locked into playing one character, the rest of the time you can switch around.

Each one will have different hobbies and concerns to compliment their personality. I look forward to seeing how this will work

As in there'll be background music when you're doing missions (dramatic music when you're climbing the side of building, quiet soft music when you're sneaking etc) as well as all the stuff on the radio.

AFAIK it's been confirmed that there will be individual missions. You'll have some missions that use all three guys, some that use just two, and some that use one.

As for whether they'll have a mind of their own, my understanding is that they will go about their business when you're not controlling them. So in the scenario you use, the guy you're not controlling would probably start driving back from teh wilderness while you're controlling the guy in thecity.

What they could do is have an option in the phone (similar to Sleep Mode in IV) whereby you could specifically tell a character to stay put while in free roam.

Youre right, the film score is the stuffmade exclusively for that film.

An excellent example of a rockstar-ish game that had a terrific score was LA Noire. The music changed depending on the situation, the mood, and urgency of the situation.

With GTA, the soundtracks have almost entirely been the radio stations. Of course they have theme songs, but only from GTA III onwards did mainstream music make it into the radio stations.

I'm hoping this GTA will have a score that drowns out the radio during a mission when you get to certain points to fit the situation, as well as having a decent quality and number of radio stations.

I'm 25, so GTA 1 was the first playstation game my mother wouldn't let me have when I was ~11. Of course I managed to sneak it home anyway and have been hooked since.

I've gone off gaming big time in the last couple of years. I've bought COD(2), GT5 and FM13 but never feel the playstation/PC calling out to me when I'm at home. That said I really cant wait for GTA5.....I think the week off sounds good!

Im 28 and im kinda the same as yourself, ive really gone off gaming say its been at a minimum 6 months since my xbox was turned on, but ths is the one game im still following ever since I played the very first GTA ive been hooked and will certainly be buying this :), cant wait for the trailer.

    A trip down memory lane.

I remember the hysteria quite vividly when the Golden Gate Bridge and the Las Vegas strip were shown for the first time in the 2nd San Andreas trailer. Good times.

You know what would be awesome, two things. Able to white water raft(is that the word) and a big cruiser that actually can be driven. Always something I felt lacking! A few islands out at sea would be pretty neat.

    The police has better AI
    Bigger map
    Harder more insane missions
Side missions that reward you with insane guns and/or hidden areas/shortcuts

    =-=

I was about 16 when GTA first game out.

GTA 1 was probably the first and only game I ever modded for. Used to create things like a school bus with children hanging out of it and if you smashed certain parts of it the damage sprite would show the kids on whatever side you hit missing their limbs or heads :pac:

Or cars with people being dragged along the back of it..........or rocket launchers that shot those gouranga guys out as rockets...........or driveable trains with you sitting on top of it.

Jaysus, I remember using Paint Shop Pro for all that pixel by pixel work.

Also violently change some cars' mass settings or speeds so that if you even slighty bumped into one it would go crazy skidding all over the place, knocking into other cars with low mass causing a giant chain reaction. Pretty much like that GTAIV Carmageddon video. Was hilarious trying to dodge cars and listening to the screams of the pedestrians.

Hmmm, I might do that again.

Actually, that map was just fan art. There is a thread where people make maps that they would like to see. In no way are they trying to state that their creations are 'leaked' copies of the in-game map.

Rockstar's Youtube page wallpaper has been changed to Trevor on the ATV just there. Make of it what you will.

Interested to hear the choice of music used in the trailer too. Ogdens Nut Gone Flake was a great choice for the first trailer.

Just had a flashback to like 5 years ago, waiting on the rockstar website for the GTA IV trailer to be released. Not sure which one it was.

I think it seems forever since that game came out! Anyone know why we didn't get 3 games on this console?
