    not selling big numbers?

Playboy germany (in a country remember that is 25 times the population of Ireland) sells 252,442 copies a month and has a readership of around 1 million
    http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playboy_(Magazin)
So from mag sales, internet subscriptions and advertising I'd say they could afford a modest 6 figure pay out if needs be for rosanas (tupper) wares
Doesn't even put them in the top 50 magazines sold in Germany(source). Can you see a magazine outside the top 50 paying €100K+ for the cover shot? I can't. Heidi Klum, Claudia Schiffer, for sure they would pay that. But most Germans wouldn't have a clue who RD is. Klum actually agreed a $1m deal with US Playboy a few years ago but Playboy pulled out of it.

I have no idea how much she was paid, I just doubt very much it was as much as €100K.

    From here:
And the gorgeous Dubliner — who was reportedly paid a six-figure sum for the Playboy job

If I had the body and they could put a (sexy) paper bag over my head so my dad wouldn't see and they paid me big bucks, then maybe. I need the money. :)

I'm not surprised at Rosanna doing this and whatever she wants to do. Her reason for doing it is pretty hilarious though but then I'd probably make up some b****e excuse for doing it too. Nobody would want to be seen to be doing it for the money, I suppose.

Id be quite happy to be seen to be doing it for the money! Especially if it was good money.

It'd be great if more of them were more honest.

This is the kind of thing many women tend to say a lot in this industry....it's so "empowering" and "liberating" and blah dee blah. Like they're trying to find some depth to getting their clothes off for money. A bit of honesty would be refreshing.

Course its easy for me to say it because Im not doing it and frankly, Id probably have to pay someone to take photos of me naked - not the other way around!

Pretty much. I guess my point is that Rosanna devotes her every waking hour to looking good and has the time and money to ensure that she does.

It's all just so horribly contrived and artificial and to me, something so try-hard is the opposite to sexy.

Soft and subtle is sexy -overkill and desperate for attention is not

I see the point you are making, but most women are enhance in one way or another, both in everyday life, and when they go out.

Few among us dont do one or some of: dye our hair, remove unwanted body hair, wear heels that unnaturally elongate the calf muscles, fake tan on occasion, make up, manicured or false nails, chicken fillets in bras, uplift underwear, wear hair extensions, use lip plumper, wear false eyelashes, etc....

That she takes it to an extreme is just an expression of her own vanity, but I think most women 'fake it' in one way or another about their appearance at times, even if its only as mild as wearing eye make up.

There are few absolutely natural beauties out there who look amazing with no or little personal enhancement.

Absolutely and I think everyone should aim to look their best but there is a vast difference between 'enhance' and 'transform'

My point is that Rosanna Davison has made her appearance her sole focus in life and is not simply enhancing her natural assets but painstakingly tweaking and transforming every aspect of herself in an extreme way.

To me that level of vanity and self-absorption is inherently unattractive and she's purposely created a life where she is defined by how other people see her.

I feel sorry for her in some ways because to crave that level of attention and approval is quite sad. Either that or she's motivated by money which is possibly even more sad that she feels her dignity has a price

The whole concept of Playboy is seedy, tacky and sexist. Why on earth would I want my body to be associated with any of those three things?

Straight female here. Take a look through the Playmate of the Month back catalogue - some of the photos from the 70s, 60s and 50s are beautiful and far from seedy or tacky. Things have dis-improved since then though.

Anyway my tits are too small.

Look back at the photos from the above-mentioned decades, and one thing you'll notice is there's greater variation in bewb size, from very small to very large. All beautiful. Today it's much more homogenised. Medium large boobs for all!

Not a chance! (and not likely to ever be asked anyway :P )
I wouldn't care if strangers saw it but my family and friends saw, I think I'd die a little inside.
I'm a primary teaching student, stuff like that is a big no for us anyway, but if I wasn't? If it was a one off thing that wouldn't affect my future, and I'd know my family wouldn't see?

Meh, maybe. (And that's a big maybe). I have my price. :pac:

Well her livelihood is based on her appearance so its not surprising that she follows industry 'trends'.

Well of course the motivation is financial - she is a model. Im not seeing where dignity has anything to do with it though, she makes her money displaying her body, I dont find that undignified.

Are the two intrinsically linked?

Are you being disingenuous or can you really not fathom what might be undignified about getting your rack out for any man in the world's casual sexual pleasure?

I think gyrating on a horse in only a pair of string knickers is very undignified.

No, I cannot see whats undignified about it. I do not see a naked body as undignified.

Yes, I think you'll find most models are in it for financial gain. Much like anyone who works for a living. I'm certainly not doing my job for the joy it gives me.

Have a look at the video of the shoot online on The Sun website so.

And you are entitled to that opinion, but I dont.

This isn't an attack on anyone in this thread but I think there's a fair amount of jealousy and begrudgery going on here. People love to knock anyone with self-confidence down, especially when they themselves are self conscious. She's a girl doing well for herself, just let her be. You might have a moral issue with it but she obviously doesn't.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 985 ✭✭✭Ellsbells

And you are entitled to that opinion, but I dont.

Undignified means lacking in good taste and this was lacking good taste. There is nothing wrong with a body but when a beautiful body is traded for cheap titillation then that is wrong for me.

Im not sure how modelling (naked or otherwise) equates to a loss of dignity?

She is not a high fashion model, she is a promotions girl/glamour model who gets her melons out for money -it's hardly the epitome of integrity.

In fact, most people associate getting paid for providing strangers with sexual pleasure as undignified.

Thats not what my dictionary gives as a definition of undignified - but, even to use that definition - good taste is a subjective matter of opinion. Its not a matter of fact.

A beautiful body being traded for cheap titillation being wrong would imply its a moral issue then. Which is fine, but I personally dont have any moral issues with it. I dont think modelling naked is doing anything 'wrong'.

You have referred to her breasts as her rack and now her melons, its interesting that you seem to only be able to use slang terms of reference for breasts.

Eh, she isnt providing strangers with sexual pleasure. She is providing her body to be photographed.

How do you know what 'most people' associate with undignified anyway?
