So women who don't approve of posing naked for Playboy = prudish

I find presumptuous men usually have a small penis and are crap in bed!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭Ectoplasm

    Jesus, every single time...

Just because a women doesn't fancy being fap fodder doesn't make her a) jealous of those who do or b) prudish. It is perfectly possible to respect another person's choice without ever wanting to make the same choice yourself.

To answer the op, no I wouldn't pose for playboy but I wouldn't fancy being a model or actress either...I like a quiet life me.

I can assure you, I do.

Prude: a person who affects or shows an excessively modest, prim, or proper attitude, esp regarding sex"

But the example you gave of prudishness is not an example of prudishness hence why I'm doubting you know the meaning (love the way you had to look up the dictionary definition there :P).

Same. I think you need to have a certain level of self-confidence to get in front of a camera and be the centre of attention like that. Some people are great at it. I absolutely do not have the confidence at all, even if I did have supermodel looks.

What people have to realise is that in America getting your photo taken for Playboy is not seen as sleazy, as it is seen here.

    Some women who were in Playboy were later in good movies;

Kim Basinger was in Playboy in '88, in Batman in '89

Barbara Carrera was in Playboy in '82, in "Never Say Never Again" in '83

Diora Baird was in Playboy in '05, in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" in '06

Tanya Roberts was in Playboy in '82, in "A View to a Kill" in '85

I have no issue with her posing naked or whatever. It's her personal decision, makes no odds to me. I will say though that her boobs look very fake, like bubbles or something, it's incredibly plastic looking - almost sore looking actually!

I've deleted some posts where the sniping was becoming tiresome. As EMF2010 said and I'll hijack the pertinent bit here "It is perfectly possible to respect another person's choice" opinion without getting snippy. Thanks

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

A lot of jealousy towards Rosanna, fair play to her for having the pride in herself to pose naked and show off what she has got.

This isn't an attack on anyone in this thread but I think there's a fair amount of jealousy and begrudgery going on here.

Does anyone else get irritated that a woman's negative opinion of another woman who is beautiful is automatically attributed to jealousy?

Yes, it's extremely irritating. Put it in the same group as "you don't know what you really want, I know best and I know women would mostly jump at the chance despite any protestations to the contrary".

I hadn't even seen the pictures at the time of posting (and I can't imagine that every poster had, either) so I don't know what exactly I was supposed to be jealous of.

I'm not jealous of her. Ive already said, I dont like her look, which is very artificial. My type of female beauty would be how Liz Arch looks, for instance. Women do have the ability to look at another beautiful woman and appreciate her rather than hate her for being better.

Yeah, seems to be the assumption is if you are beautiful woman you would be modelling - what else? If you don't want to model, you are jealous or not good-looking.

Think of any beautiful women you know - how many are models? Just because you could make a career on your looks doesn't mean you have to or want to.

I haven't even seen that many women comment negatively on RD personally, they are answering the question on whether they would or wouldn't model nude.

Any more posters sea-gulling in with accusations of jealousy are going to be regarded as deliberately flaming/trolling and earn themselves infractions/bans.

Please report posts/posters you have an issue with.

And now kate Middleton is at it. Poor Rosanna must be devastated that the germans will all be buying Closer magasine now rather than Playboy :D

There is definitely a certain level of acceptance for it that there wouldn't be for more overtly pornographic magazines, and that is probably because it was seen as striking a blow against censorship which is the reason it has attracted a lot of high profile writers over the last few decades.

I do still think that someone who poses for Playboy is going to be looked at askance, whether in the US or not, which is why actresses don't pose for it when at the top of their careers.

Actually, now that I think of it, one reason for posing in German Playboy is that I don't think it's not as much of a stigma in some European countries. That would be one reason Heidi Klum was willing to do it.

What do ladies think of bookies offering odds on the next Irish model to pose for Playboy - hilarious? pathetic? tacky? offensive? (or something else).

But who would they ask? I think rosanna is the most beautiful of them by far and I can't think of any others who would meet the playboy standards. Am sure Georgia salpa would jump at the chance.

Here's the full list of women for which odds are being offered. You're right about Salpa being the favourite.

Yeah maybe Rozanna Purcell but dont think the rest of them are at international model level.

Wonder what the odds are on Kate Middleton :D

I always thought Playboy was the most mainstream of top shelf magazines, although I'm old enough to remember when it was banned in Ireland which looking back on it now was laughable.
There were some interesting articles in it as well.

    Maybe not Playboy.
I have no problem with nudity/pornography but I just think Playboy is tasteless.
If a more classy magazine came along with an offer I'd consider it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Sonics2k

I'm curious if perhaps people are confusing Playboy and Penthouse?

Playboy is more of a soft-core Porn magazine, nothing sexual is shown other than breasts. There is nothing hardcore about it.
It's become increasingly mainstream as a business, especially since Hugh Hefners daughter took over the business.

Penthouse on the other hand is more known for it's sleaze and all out sex.

I don't mean to be thick, but in what way would you make a men's mag more tasteful and classy?

You should charge a small fortune for this advice: Max Clifford made the very same point yesterday. :D
