I also thought they looked a little bit unnatural when I checked the pictures for research purposes. Not that appealing.

Are you male? Are you really saying those pictures aren't appealing? I'd love to see what you do find appealing :p

I think I might actually be mortified for Chris de Burgh.

Sooo ... I'm the only one who didn't know Chris de Burgh was her father, right? :o

To me there is not a whole lot of difference in her posing in a bikini and posing with her baps out apart from the actual target market. She didnt do this for artistic merit or to sell clothes and beauty products, she did it to sell sex, and that gets everyone's knickers in a twist.

RD has made a career out of her looks, and this is just an extreme aspect of that. Its the whole barbie doll style she typifies that bothers me, not the fact that she got naked. And she didnt invent that perma-tanned bleach blonde overdone look, its just what we are being fed all the time as female beauty. (It isnt beautiful to me, its fake and plastic).

Would I pose for playboy? No, because I dont like that artificial pumped up idea of sexuality. Would I pose for naked photos? Depending on circumstances, yes.

It seems we come from different planets. I shall leave this thread now :P

In fairness, the chance of anyone in a "normal" industry being asked to pose for Playboy aren't exactly huge, so that's a bit of a moot point.

Of course. I was responding to the 'you girls would all do it really, admit it' posts on the thread.

I don't see a big issue with RD posing for Playboy to be honest. It's sort of what she's been doing for years, she's getting paid well for it, and no one forced her into it.

I wouldn't pose for Playboy, because that's not my field, and to be perfectly honest, I don;t have the body for it. If I was a model, I would probably consider it more seriously.

I'm not really sure why people are "disappointed" in her for this, its not like she's bastion of humanity, she's a model, taking her clothes off, its what models usually do. I did a quick google for other celebrities who posed and was suprised to find Charlize Theron in there, I genuinely had no idea she ever posed for Playboy, do people think that held back her career? she's an oscar winning actress, some pictures taken years ago had zero effect on her career, same as Madonna, or a bunch of other people who did it.

Id have no problem doing it personally.

I dont really see the issue with someone choosing to get paid to display their naked body for lads mags. Im not really bothered by the notion that other people might think Im tacky or slutty, Im happy enough with my own morality.

Seems the OPs question is incomplete

Would you pose for Playboy for €500k is a more tempting proposition surely?

So were Rosanna's, but she had major surgery to make them look bigger. I think this is what I find abhorrent about playboy.None of the bodies are natural. They are plasticised, waxed, plucked, tanned and oiled into an inch of their lives. They don't look like real women's bodies, they look like freaky aliens. Do men genuinly get turned on by these abnormal images of women?
I think you already know the answer to that question - some do, and some don't. I can imagine that for most the news that some miscellaneous celebrity has posed in playboy is fairly unimportant.

I wouldn't do it because I don't like the thought of people I don't know looking at my body. I do like the idea of doing some sort of photoshoot as a present for my boyfriend though.

Of course she is! Any magazine shoot of anyone is photoshopped. :)
Personally I feel a lot of women who say they wouldn't actually would, you can claim its tacky and slutty but if some women were offered the money she got for that shoot they would definitely take it. I think a lot more women claim they do not like men "admiring" them but when it happens they actually do enjoy it.

But Kudos to those who wouldnt :D
Oh I've no problem at all at all with flattery and admiration :p but I really do not want pictures of me naked out there for anyone at all to see, including older relatives (I doubt they'd be looking for it, but you never know!) and bosses!:eek:
Different story if I worked in an industry that involved me getting my kit off though, obviously. Yeh I'd do it then all right. But if it was just a one-off pose that's otherwise got no bearing on my career/life, nope.

I don't see anything wrong with it though - if you've got the assets and can make money off them and you want to, and obviously once there's no dodgy stuff/coercion going on, makes sense to do so IMO. You won't have those assets forever.

Lol at "It's a celebration of the female body" though - yes, the airbrushed one... with a side helping of lotsa cash. :pac:

Would pose nude for photos, for a gobal publication? Maybe.
Would I pose nude for playboy? No.
Not even if I was being paid 5 million dollars, 10 million dollars and I would find that a moral delemia.

I'm male and don't find them very appealing. Was quite disappointed tbh. Way too boney for me. Her breasts look fake in some of the shots, don't know it that silicone or photoshop but it's a turn off either way. She doesn't look particularly sexy in any of the poses. She looks freezing in most and a bit uncomfortable tbh.

I would be very very surprised if she was paid over €100k (or even that much) contrary to the figure that (she?) has been reporting. Playboy mag does not sell in high numbers any more and I'd be very surprised at them forking out big money on an ex Miss World for the German market when more famous Germans would do it for the money and give a bigger return.

I would think she is fairly desperate for the money though. Expensive lifestyle and modelling in Ireland is not very lucrative.

It's already several hours since I stated that I would pose for Playboy if the money was good, and the phone hasn't rung once. I'm starting to get a little worried.

I don't think I would ever do it, even for vast sums of money. Not in the job I'm in. However, if you had millions you wouldn't need to work in your old industry anymore, so that wouldn't matter perhaps!

I know too many people who'd be disgusted by it and I'd never want anything permanent out there. Having said that, I wouldn't sunbathe nude either :pac:

Curious about this: what difference would you see 10 million making to your life that 5 million wouldn't?

From my perspective, 5 million would allow me to build the home of my family's dreams (swimming pool in the basement w00t!!!) and provide them with financial security even should something happen that prevented me from being able to provide for them. Sure, 10 million will buy more luxury than 5, but there's a steep curve in the incremental benefits of each million one has after the first...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,427 ✭✭✭Morag

5 million would set up me and my extended family for life,
10 million would mean able to create more social change.

I probably would. Cant think reason big enough not too, none of the objections so far really bother me much, particularly when weighed up against a big old chunk of money. Not that Im expecting the call...

    not selling big numbers?

Playboy germany (in a country remember that is 25 times the population of Ireland) sells 252,442 copies a month and has a readership of around 1 million
    http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playboy_(Magazin)
So from mag sales, internet subscriptions and advertising I'd say they could afford a modest 6 figure pay out if needs be for rosanas (tupper) wares

It would actually shock me if Rosanna Davison came out and said that she only did it for the money and to further her career, and it would probably make me at least respect her honesty (not her doing it).

While I would never in a million years be asked to pose for something like Playboy, I still think that it is a pretty sexist publication and I think it just serves to further the whole hyper-sexualised aspect of society and the unfair depictions of the female body. Like others have been saying, if it was photos showing what real women look like and was making a statement about that, that would be different, but the fact that it's purely for the viewing pleasure of strange men and a way of simply objectifying the female body, I disagree with it and could never, ever bring myself to pose for something like that, even if I did look like Rosanna Davison.

Plus, my father would kill me and my friends would rip the piss out of me for the rest of my life.

When people admit they do something for the money I respect that honesty, the same way I respect people who are honest about their plastic surgery, even though I have no interest personally. I would have zero interest, zero, i find the idea unbelievably boring and done to death, and "fake, marketed sexy". What I find sexy isnt in playboy or play girl either for that matter.

My ignorance of celebrities is plain to see in this thread but ... is it normal that she's described as "The Lovely Daughter of Chris De Burgh" on the cover? Rather than "The Former Miss World", I mean. Is he really famous in Germany or something?
