I would like a single en-suite in the apartment style in the modern rooms, and i've looked again on the application and when it says 'preffered room type' one of the options is 'ensuite single', does this still mean in an apartment or more like the ones in cunningham, because i really want an apartment style one :/
and also when it says 'are you prepared to consider an offer in any location' if i put yes am i less likely the get the one i want?

once you put down trinity hall - apartments, all the options in that drop down box are for the apartments not cunningham house.

Is it possible to change your preferred location? I put down Cunningham house but have since come to regret it and think I would prefer the modern single room. I have emailed the accommodation offices and they haven't replied yet. Can I ask them to change it or will I have to delete my application and reapply?

You could ring to check. In my experience emailing is a somewhat inefficient method of contacting some offices in the college... Also they're probably inundated with emails asking about the applications process, so there'll most likely be a delay.

thanks very much. I'll give them a ring after lunch and see what I can get. *fingers crossed*

couldn't you connect your laptop with the ethernet cable and use the laptop as a hotspot for your phone?

Possibly. My only experience in the whole playing with the signal was giving the rest of the flat Wifi access by using my flatmates Mac to bounce signal, but I never used it for my phone as that had decent enough internet on its own. I'll look into it if you like, I'm good friends with this year's Tech Officer and I'll probably be bopping around Halls over the first weekend or so to help out with getting people on the network.

Also, just be aware - most flats have awful phone signal. It's a pain. Just pray you get my old flat, that appeared to be one of the few that you could make calls in.

For TH-apartments it had 3 options: ensuite single, twin and single flat- what's single flat?

Do anyone know how much you pay by credit card when you're applying for Trinity halls?

Not enough space for "dear sirs" and all that, just dive right in and tell them why you think you should be offered a place in halls

I applied using my CAO number, because it allowed me to. Today i got a general kind of email about the TCD student ID and in bold it said if i wanted to apply for accommodation in Halls I had to use my TCD student ID? should I reapply? Is there anyone else that applied with their CAO number?

No you will be fine. The college are always buggering up things like that. I'd say they maybe changed it back to your CAO number for you to apply because the whole system blocked up and it was easier for them that way? Not sure, but loads of people i know applied using their CAO numbers.

I know this is a bit early, especially as i don't even know if i've got accommodation at trinity, but just wondering if anyone knows how much storage/furniture are in the modern rooms? like is there just a small wardrobe, desk and bed? or is there more in the room?

    Guys,
If i get halls on trinty, when am I supposed to pay for it? Is there a discount or anything if you pay for the whole year in one go? Cause i would rather pay in instalments as I'll be relying heavily on the grant :)

thanks in advance, cant really find any info on it

Here's a link so you can see 360 degree views of the modern rooms. http://www.tcd.ie/accommodation/StudentsandStaff/Students/TrinityHall/360Views/

You'll get an email explaining what to do if you get in. I've stayed there two years and I think that's how it worked. It's also paid in installments. If you're in the modern apartments it's something like 2000 when you get accepted, 2000 in December or January and another 1000 in like March or something. I'm not sure about Cunningham.

Just tell them why you want it and what you're hobbies are. As far as I'm aware this little essay thing is just used to sort out who you'll be living with; people with similar interests etc. After that just the usual stuff (it'll be my first time away from home, I don't know anyone else in the city etc.)

If we get accommodation, do we get told before we arrive people that are with us? Or are we meant to wait until we get there/look on here/facebook etc?

You find out on the day unless you manage to track them down on Boards/Facebook.

There's a facebook page dedicated to it. It's something like "find you flatmate 2012" or something like that. Post your room number, wait for a response, voila!
