Still waiting on any email, ID is on the list.. What's going on??

Hmmm.. No email but my TCD ID is on the list.

Does anyone know if we have to / can accept it at the moment?

I hope i will make friends even if i'm not in halls!!

Halls isn't the be all and end all of making friends in college, the vast majority of people I socialise with in college weren't in Halls, and even the people who did live there, I met in college or through other people. Don't worry about that at all. :)
After i read your reply i feel much better! Thanks:)

When you get your email you can accept the offer. Don't worry about it though, your place isn't going to go anywhere, just wait for the email.

Is it possible to change your preferred location? I put down Cunningham house but have since come to regret it and think I would prefer the modern single room. I have emailed the accommodation offices and they haven't replied yet. Can I ask them to change it or will I have to delete my application and reapply?

Did you manage to change from Cunningham to a Modern Single? I tried to do the same, but as of yet, no success :(

I'm trying to change from modern single to modern shared, they should really have some info about change of minds, what to do and who to talk to etc.

I know, it's frustrating, but apparently there's some clause that says not to attempt to contact the Accommodation office once the accommodation offer has been accepted. I still - rebelliously - rang/emailed and did what I could, though, but to no avail :( Tis a shame.

I got a room! But. I had no idea the single modern rooms were way more expensive than the shared apartment modern rooms when i was doing the application, gonna try and get my preferred room type changed to shared apartment before the offers. Anyone know if thats possible or has anyone been able to get their application changed?

What's the difference? How many options are there in modern apartments?

Pretty sure there's only 2 options. You can have a single bedroom with an ensuite to yourself or share a bigger room with another person. The single room costs something like 1300 more throughout the year though. :/ Gonna try ringing them tomorrow but not feeling too confident about it after yeatz post!

I applied to Trinity Halls but my id isn't on the list. I wrote the e-mail for reconsideration but should I give up hope? Are there many who get accommodation at this stage? :(

Does anyone know what date we'd be moving into halls?

Friday the 14th according to the website.

Has anyone actually got an email? Even the Find Your Flatmates page seems pretty dead...

I did yes! I was going to call them but I received an email saying that it was ok and that they 'added' Modern Single to my room preferences. Not too sure if it was changed over completely from Cunningham to Modern Single though, have to wait and see what i got offered. I did it the day after I applied so they probably still could change it, but you may as well give them a ring and see if they can do it for you now too.

Ah, I see. Well I'm glad you got yours changed all right :P I'm a deferred applicant you see, so I applied some time ago, and got it confirmed before the rest of the Freshers. I suppose it's because I accepted Cunningham, that it's that much more difficult to change. So, it looks like I'll be in Cunningham :o

As a matter of interest, did you provide much detail in the "personal statement" section when applying, or did you just put down a few words? Just wondering if that statement counts for anything, or not.

The statement is pretty important, a decent paragraph is kinda expected.

Yes my personal statement was very detailed. Quite a long paragraph as a matter of fact. I tried to sound a very social and friendly person but also quite studious. I moved here from italy last year so getting into halls was something i was keen on as I dont know dublin very well.

Kinda getting annoyed now... I wan't the e-mail to come so I know what room type I'm being offered! They were meant to tell us yesterday... It's not good enough!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 XxshadowsxX

Relax, they did tell us yesterday whether we got in or not. They are sending out news to about 500 people or so, right? So give 'em a couple of days.

Um it's more like 1000. But yeah you're right, don't worry about the email. As soon as you get into the swing of things, you'll be bombarded by emails from Halls, the JCR, and the accommodation office. One email telling you what number you're in is rather insignificant really, considering most of you already know that you have a place!
