Hey its not too late but im afraid its now a long grueling process. You wont here anything back for awhile. However its worth all the effort and sacrifice and you should defiantly go for it.

Your looking at 2 to 3 years to get in Templemore for training. Also your not late applying. Anything else cannot be discussed here. Confidentiality is a must. Best of luck with your application. You will love the training.

Can't agree more with IrishGuy......the training is fantastic and I am sure you will meet up with some great people like I did!

Even if I didn't go into the reserve's proper, I would have learned so much from the training. Great credit to everyone down in Templemore!

    Hi,
Just just got word yesterday that I have been accepted and am travelling to Templemore this weekend for training. You normally have to visit the local station twice for interview. This I believe is a means by which they can judge your character and are more informal chats really. They just want to be sure of your level of commitment and that you know what you are getting yourself into.Roll on the Weekend.

Congratulations well done hope you enjoy the training

    Hey lads,
Passing out there shortly. how many hours is phase I to IV training. I'm really cutting it close to get allowance, so trying to figure out how many hours I need to get in before grad day and Jan to qualify for 208 hours in total! What do I need to bring with me in grad day apart for myself and full uniform! Thanks :-)

    Hi all,

    Can anybody answer the following?

Are there set dates for reserve intakes?

Is the typical timeline between intakes a fast one?

Is there much trouble cancelling or postponing a phase due to work etc?

    Kind regards folks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 445 ✭✭RUNNER 1

Well canyon86... yes there set dates , i myself am in contact with the GR unit to find out the dates, they said they would let me know as i want to know when there on , i am hopen to be in one of them , i will let u know the dates when i get an email back . And from what i have read on boards about postponing a phase it is no problem with them :)

As far as I heard the 29th January is the next intake. I'm not 100% on that.

    Out of interest,

How do people find getting time off from
    Employers to attend reserve training?
    Especially the two weeks training

    Kind regards

at the time my employers facilitated me in every way

they were delighted with a GR on the staff

new skills are always desirable so time was always given

Some will make it and others won't . But at least they tried and they are to be respected for that. It always amazes me the change in attitudes once they put themselves on the front line. All their previous opinions and ill informed comments go out the window after they have to do the job and put themselves at risk
