Leg is much better today. I can take the full weight on my foot so thats definitely an improvement on the last time.

Back for Physio next Thur evening so i probably wont be able to race the Frank Duffy 10m and i'll have to wait and see if i'll be able to do it at all!!!

That's so unfortunate for you Anne. Hope you're not feeling too down about it. Fingers crossed this is just a blip that I've no doubt you can overcome.... better happen 10 or so weeks out, than nearer the time. When you're back in action, I look forward to some midweek runs with you in the Park :)

    Week 8,, Run 2:eek: - 19th Aug

wasn't sure what i was going to do for this run, i just knew i had to get out and do something....dodgy stomach had me sitting on loo:mad: for someof the morning so that put paid to any hope of longish run and i didn't think the 16m i was supposed to dowas going to happen. So i decided to go out for a shortish run,s ee how legs (and stomach) held up.

I took it nice an easy at the start, boy its warm out there and the sun was shining so i was sweating buckets in no time....legs fine so i upped the pace a tiny bit and i was still comfortable. Turnaround at 3 ish and legs were bit tight but still ok.. dropped pace back abit then as i didn't want to push it too much....a few slow miles were better than nothing...
Overall i managed 6.6m @ 9.57/159, so happy enough with that. I wouldn't have been able to do anymore anyway as OH had to go to football match. Just made oit back an stomach issue flared up again:eek:

I'm thinking if i have time this evening and legs are ok later(and stomach improves) i might go for a recovery few miles....
    10.23/152, 10.00/158, 9.43/160, 9.46/164, 9.55/161, 9.51/160, (.60) 10.08/163

Plan for next week is to run Mon - Thur, physio Thur evening so no running Fri and then Frank Duffy 10m Saturday morning...i think if legs are ok i might jsut do the 10miles @PMP(9ish min per mile), and not worry about racing it!!

    Week 9, Run 2 – 21 Aug
Headed for the Polo grounds at lunchtime to do this session and I have to say I really enjoyed this session. :DI fell the fact that I was doing it on grass it was giving my legs a break from the hard ground of the road and the fact it was on the grass meant that I would keep the paces to where they should be and not let me go too fast……the sun was beaming down on me and it was just glorious. There were even two semi naked men ;) doing a bit of a run too, but they were way too fast for me to catch up with them!!!!!
Not a peek out of the legs while running but they are a bit stiff now after so more foam rolling again this evening….

I set the program up on the Garmin but my sound is almost gone so I missed the end a few times and this is quite annoying…the more sweat that amalgamates under the watch the lower/quiter the beeps go!!!

    Anyway the warmup was
½ mile on the road and ½ mile on the grass @ 9.53/154
and then (and i hope my conversions were correct......)
    1 mile @ MP pace – Plan 8.57, Actual 8.53/169
    .75m (1200m) @ HMP – Plan 8.30, Actual 8.20/173
    .50m (800m) @ 10 k pace Plan 8.00, Actual 8.04/175
    .25m (400m) @ 3k – 5k pace – Plan 7.40 Actual 7.29/175
    .13m (200m) @ mile pace – Plan 7ish Actual 7.10/163
Cooldown mile, few stretches and then ran instead of walked back to work as the rain started coming down and by God was that some shower, thunder and lightening too just to remind us that its summer….5mins later the sun is beaming again…and you just have to love the Irish weather!!!!!
1.75 m @9.39/160 I even ran a lap of the building to bring total up.
    Total 6m @ 9.48

Most of the splits were ok with only the 800m one a bit off and this might have been due to me trying to fix my Garmin as the strap had loosened and it was about to fall off.

    Update :(
no running since last Wednesday...i was at the Doctor on Tuesday as i couldn't handle my sinusitis anymore, between the headache and the Fatigue and generally not feeling well, i decided seasonal or not i needed to get it sorted....anyway after 1 day of medicating i was feeling a good bit better but this morining, i'm on the early shift, and the headache is back so definitely no running today..there is a touch of migraine in some of the headaches so i have to be careful as i get visual disturbance with my migraines. Doc says once the fatigue and headache clear i'm good to go back running. So heres hoping to get a run in on Fri, Sat & Sun...

My leg is responding well to treatment and i reckon this enforced rest will help it too!!!

Anne, you poor thing. Hope this clears up soon for you. At least there are plenty of weeks to go, so don't be worrying about missing out on some training. On the bright side, your calf injury is getting a proper chance to heal.

Poor Anne I really hope it clears up for you, plenty of time before DCM (that's what I keep telling myself anyway) and the rest will do your legs the world of good.
    Fingers crossed for you

Hopefully you get this sorted soon- you're better to get it seen to and as you say the break will probably do the legs more good:)

    Week 10, Run 1 - Sunday 2nd September
Well after 10 days of no running I was very apprehensive about going out to do this one and I kept putting it off until I just said get on with it to myself!!!:o I wasn’t even sure how far I was going to run so decided I’d get to the 2.5m point of turnaround and see how things were going...

At the start I was very conscious of my legs and I had lots of twinges and niggles but decided to see what they were like after getting warmed up.....I was delighted that everything fell into place and the pace was nice & slow and comfortable and I wasn’t paying any attention to it so it was fairly constant.

Once i got to the 2.5m point I decided to go another bit and ended up going to 4m, turned around and headed for home.....took a peek at the watch and it was 40mins so was happy enough with that. Got to 5m point and then decided to see if I could manage the last 3m @ MP....the first one was very tough and I was beginning to think it was a bad idea but then I had to prove to myself that I could do it so I had to continue, the 7th mile was much more comfortable and a bit too fast so had to pull back from 8min per mile to 9min per mile!!!

The 8th mile was fine but i had to work a bit at keeping the pace for this one, as there's a long uprising slope for last half mile, so I got to the gate at 8m and decide to go a little bit to aid cooldown, so up the road as far as i could go, here the 1inch hard shoulder disappears and the grass verge disappears too.:( Anyone who know the N52 will know how narrow and windy it gets so i have never run beyond this point!!!

    So over all 8.6m @ 9.38/164
    9.52/155, 9.59/154,10.00/154, 9.58/161, 10.05/162, 9.04//176, 8.51/178, 9.01/1`79, (.60)10.03/171

The fecking ditches wer ealive and there was so much scurrying that i nearly jumped into the middle of the road on many an occasion!!! :o Must bring music next time....

    Week 11, Run 1 - Mon 3rd Sept

I have Physio this evening so probably won't be running tomorrow so headed out for a run this morning...

started off way too fast...Someone give me a kick up the a*se please...i tell the Novices every week to keep things slow and then i go haring off at stupid pace after running last night and trying to get back after 10days off......anyway pulled it back from the brink a bit and managed
    5.01m @9.22/157
    8.51/147, 9.19/159, 9.28/155, 9.35/162, 9.34/165

I remembered to bring some music and this is the first time i have run with music and this is probably whty the first mile was too fast...i was running singing and enjoying the sunshine...loved this run even if my legs were in bits after it!!!
the foam roller got good use today!!!

    and i didn't hear any scurrying:rolleyes:

I'm not sure what the plan is yet for the rest of the week but with the Half on next weekend i really need to get a Long run in this weekend, so far 15m is the longest i've reached...and time is tick, tick ticking away!!!

    i've reached a new low:eek: or have i?
and its not even Taper madness (well maybe it is for me seeing as i haven't been running!!!)

    Week 11, Run 2 - 2m Recovery Run

So decided i need a recovery run as my Quads were really sore and the calf is fine after last nights dry needling so decided 20min on the grass, so was all geared up and ready to bring kids to the footbalss ptitch while i did a few laps before the adult trainign started...Only problem youngest fell asleep, and i was loath to wake her, afterall she had a tough day at the offic(2nd day in playschool)
so i went out and ran around my front garden for 21.33 mins @ 10.47/147 barefoot....:eek::eek::eek: i know i know!!! But the only good thing is that i live in the country so the garden is not too small...19 laps, brought me up to 2miles exactly:D
    10.51/142, 10.43/154...

i was thinking of Dory Dory while doing this and wishing i had a big field to run around;)
