Decided on advice and not to go with Wildcard.

Got rid of Aguero for Tevez and Allen for Dyer. -4 points altogether

    Opinions?

Aguero to tevez ye seems common move all around-

But no sense in taking a 4 point hit, to get in Dyer as didn't even need money and Dyer will not score big most weeks. Should just left on bench this week even-

My team is I dont watch soccer. It has 47 points with five to play again and two points to come from subs:

    Cole A (c)
    Evra
    (Lescott)

    N'Zogbia
    Dempsey
    Hazard
    Guthrie
    (Obertan)

You have way, way, way too much invested in your defence in my opinion. 43 million by my calculation. As a result the rest of your team is suffering.

Obertan and Guthrie aren't great options. You could upgrade them to better players. They're both bargain basement players who will get you 1/2 points every week but no more.

At the moment Dempsey isn't a great option to have either. He refuses to play for Fulham but he still hasn't sealed his move to Liverpool. Hazard is a good one though.

Van Persie is a good enough option but you'd save yourself 4 million downgrading to Tevez. That'd sort out the rest of your forward line which I'm sorry to say is very poor. Dong and Smith will struggle to score 4 goals between them all season.

If you're willing to play on with so many expensive defenders in your team then best of luck to you. If you're not then I'd consider using the wildcard and posting on here to check that your players are the right ones.

Of course feel free to ignore all of my suggestions. You did score more than me this week but I wouldn't be confident of that team in the long run.

Thanks for the info regarding Dempsey. I wasn't aware of any of that, and was surprised to see he hadn't played. I'll probably move him.

The heavy investment in defence is by design. Defenders tend to give the most bang for the buck in the game imo. I used a similar approach the last time I actively played the game in 09/10. I finished then with 2164 in total, which I was happy with. I agree that there are maybe one or two too many bargain bin players in that line-up right now though.

I've been considering trasferring RVP alright since he moved to Man U. There's an element of uncertainty about whether he'll do so well there as he did with Arsenal. Would have transferred him already, only I made the team before that happened, and only looked back after the start. I think it's a good idea to have one or two of the highest scoring players, even if they are expensive - just for the captaincy bonus.

Is Tevez a safe bet then? I would have thought he's not guaranteed to be a regular starter. He hasn't always been, and there are a lot of strong options in Man City.

I see. Best of luck with that tactic. Wouldn't be the way I'd do it but if you stick with it it could well pay off.

Personally, I think Tevez is a safe enough bet. You can never be too sure but Aguero got injured at the weekend. I'm not sure how long he'll be out for or if he'll be out at all but Tevez is the main man at the moment. He has started their last two games and scored in both. He's dirt cheap in comparison to others and he is a real threat.

I wouldn't read too much into your 09/10 score as iirc that was a very high scoring year. 2164 that year would probably have at best got you into the top 200,000. Scores for the last 2 years have been a bit lower and that score in either of the last 2 years would have seen you up near the top 10,000. These lower scores were probably because many followed your defenders done well last year situation and that just hasn't happened the last 2 seasons.

Yea I had 2,269 and only finished 30,000th. That wouldn't have been too far off the top last year. Can't compare different years at all really.

Similarly, I had 2,339 that year and only scraped into the top 10,000, I think that score would probably have won it or come very close either of the following 2 years.

113,255th. Wasn't trying to make it sound better than it was - I think it was around the 95th percentile, so it was a pretty good score, just not anything extraordinary.

Investing in defenders would have paid off in 08/09 as well I remember. Can't really comment on 10/11 or 11/12 though - but I'll stick with that approach for the moment and see how it plays out.

I presume you don't want to just pump all 4million into one of your subs, but rather slightly upgrade one or two of them?

I would switch Stevens for Clark (also Villa). Not sure how much Stevens is, but I'll assume 4.0m. Clark is only 4.5, and is a guaranteed started while Dunne is out. Villa have a decent run too.

    Opinions on my team please:

    De Gea
    Harte - Lescott - Cole
    Ireland - VDV - Hazard - Allen
    Torres - Pog - Aguero

    Subs:
    Jaaskelainen - Kacaniklic - Kelly - McCartney

Not a great first week with Kananiklic scoring 8 points. Also missed out on the Aguero/Tevez price rise/fall. I usually use these early weeks to monitor what's going on and take advantage of price fluctuations but the Aguero injury has messed it up. I would have brought in Tevez but now I'm thinking of RVP or Ade. Not that gone on Spurs players with AVB in charge though. can't call what he'll do.

Any opinions with this suggested wildcarding,

    2el6pg8.png

I have 3 Chelsea and 2 Reading players to get rid of.

Might be better to keep one or two Chelsea players and just have them on the bench the week they dont play.

Also you could wait until next week to use the wildcard, so you can see more of how they are performing, and reduce the chance of buying a player who gets injured before he plays.

    Week 2 line-up, any thoughts?

    Mignolet

    Zabaleta / Cole / Rafael

Bale (VC) / Mata / McClean / Pienaar

    Tevez / Graham / Van Persie (C)

Subs: Federici / Puncheon / Demel / Nelson

I'm in a spot of further bother now with the Aguero injury. Had planned on getting rid of Cole and Pog before GW3 with my FT's. With Aguero out injured it means that as it stands I'll only have 10 starters that week. without taking a points hit.

So I'm thinking of leaving Aguero on the bench and going with my original plan and hope that by the marvels of modern science that Aguero gets back early. I have 3m to spare in the bank as well.

    Any opinions?

What is the story with Rafael. Apologies if this has been covered already, unable to find anything to date in the forum.

I thought he would have been a shoe in with the defender situation?

Van Persie + kagawa or Rooney + Hazard for the rest of the season? hard one to call obviously since it's so early

not convinced by kagawa yet but if i want van persie i can't afford hazard

    VP and Kag for me.
I have Kag already and looking to get VP in next week.

Hazard is definately good, but Rooney looks like a question mark at the minute to me.

how so? could jarvis be brought in at 6mil aswel do you think?

Nolan gets his goals generally from arriving in the box at the end of wingers crosses. Hes assured of his place and wouldnt surprise me if he does hit 10 goals this season like he did with Newcastle when they got promoted.

Tossing around a few players etc.came up with this.

I like it! Any money left in the bank with that squad?? Have you already used your wildcard to get this squad??

Not sold on kagawa yet myself though, id probably have Cazorla in there instead! I fancy him to have a good season! Solid team though!

take the points hit, get tevez in for aguero. Tevez plays at home to QPR that week so should easily get you back the 4 points and you'll also save money by not having ageuro devalueing (sp) on your bench.
If you were only going to have 10 players for gameweek 3 and if for some reason tevez doesn't score or assist at home to qpr you should still get 2 points for him so it would only be a 2 point hit.

I'd do the transfer today though if you can, because tevez is likely to increase another .1 and aguero could drop another .1 in the next couple of days.

One sub for the week, Kagawa in for Mata.

I think this is the strongest 11 that I can field, but I am taking a bit of a gamble putting in Clyne ahead of an injured Coloccini and Hangeland. Don't fancy either of their fixtures though.

    Any opinions?
