In case anyone missed it, there is a high risk for coastal flooding in the south & south east this evening in the new Met Eireann warning.

Hopefully it won't be bad enough for that.

Now, here's the over-under on predictable comments:

where is the storm, I don't see anything yet ... 0230h

this is coming in faster than anyone said it would ... 0630h

there goes the first trampoline ... 0822h

nobody said this was going to happen ... 0930h

wasn't it supposed to last all day? ... 1245h

as usual, nothing happened here ... 1530h

MT's post the other day playing out as predicted :pac:

As soon as the media mentioned Charlie it was obvious that it would be blown way out of proportion and we'd have all the usual moaning

On the current situation, a nice squall line forming although mainly over the UK, plenty of sferics through Hampshire & Berkshire

Anyone who fancies a bit of south coast wave watching should note that an 'inner' band of rain is coming in from now to 4pm ( could be wet :) . Once it passes you will get drier conditions for wave watching around 5pm.

Wind picking up nicely in Waterford, glad the rain and wind events have been sepearte.

Would have been quite nasty if both has arrived at same time.

Could some be beefy showers on the way though, they look to have arrived in Cork.

Just currently making my way to Dublin via train from Limerick. There is some pretty impressive flooding along the route - there are a lot of rivers close to bursting their banks!

Just passed by a big tree down in someone's garden, it fell away from the road and missed the car in the driveway, just. Took the phone line with it.
And galway is not one of the high risk areas...Cork will be interesting.

People inland along the Barrow and Blackwater should note the possibility of flooding WELL INLAND owing to.

    1. High Tide
    2. Low Pressure
    3. Continual southerly winds driving the high tide inland. This is _unusual_
    4. Rivers were already quite high.
    5. Todays rainfall has to go somewhere.

It probably won't affect Mallow or Fermoy or even Inistiogue all the same lest the chatter starts anon. :)

Some pictures of the route down the first is of the Vee and the second is close to Cappoquinn. It was very good weather on the drive down except for small surface flooding and winds higher than usual.

Weather is definitely getting worse here near Youghal.

no complaints from me about the weather, it's vicious down here in youghal. the wind is at it's highest i've ever experience down here, never seen the sea so rough like i saw earlier and the rain is unreal. and i also see debris flying all over the place.
