By the way just to confirm - I assume this is the Papal Cross that everyone always meets at?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,377 ✭✭✭Shane O' Malley

    No,

Papal cross is left at that roundabout (If coming from Town).

Car Park will be about 100 Metres and Papal Cross is there (and is 115 Feet high) Hard to miss.

It is not even where Google maps says it is (That's the American Ambassadors Residence )

No, that's the Phoenix monument :) The papal cross is the big er... cross-shaped thing

Your picture shows the Phoenix monument from the north. The road on the right, with the white and yellow truck, leads to the papal cross. There's a car park beside the cross, it's why people meet there.

We need to uncomplicate this now that LSRs are getting longer and tougher.
If everyone can enter their name / miles / pace on one line underneath the relevant day/time grouping.
This will let people know that there are others doing the same pace and might encourage more to join in.
Also, use separate grouping for different locations/times.

    All that make sense, eh?
Hope I didn't mess up anyone's previous entry.

@skidrow this doesn't really help too much because we sometimes hang on for people who started earlier. For example I know I need to wait for jcsmum tomorrow morn at 10. I think we are better off leaving it as distinct groups so there is no confusion on who to wait for and who not. It does look very complicated though...
    Maybe something like this

    Saturday July 28th
    Papal Cross Car Park

    Group 1
    Menoscemo ~18 miles including 3 x 5k at 6:51/mile
    Vader MLK ~18 miles including 3 x 5k at 6:51/mile

    Group 2
    Distance/Pace: 18 miles with 10 miles @ 8:00min/mile

    Micilín Muc
seanie_m (12 miles, maybe a bit more depending on how the legs are)

    Group 3:

    shazkea - 10am 10 miles
    jcsmum 9am start 17 miles, first 7 @ 8'30 pace ish
Skidrow 9 am start 12 miles, 10:30-11.00 pace
shels4ever 10am 10/12 miles as slow as possible.
digijem - 10am 7 miles, will do pmp miles beforehand
    Wadi - 10 am start 10 miles
    hollypink - 10am 10 miles

Something like this...so we know group 3 will loop back to car park at 10

    Anybody any ideas on this?

All I would like to get out of this is that I know there will be somebody else doing my pace for LSRs.

To avoid any confusion the pace for Group 3 suits whatever the group wants and predominantly slow and chatty. Some people will start earlier and do the miles at their own pace but when they join up at 10:00 am it slows down.
As of now Skidrow there is nobody starting at 09:00 at your pace, jcsmum and digijem are doing their own plan until they join us at 10:00

Hi Shaz, apologies for confusion, all my fault. I thought this thread was strictly for marathon training runs, but it is something more looser than that.
I am following the marathon improvers thread and was expecting to see loads of people on this thread doing different paced marathon runs. Any other thread where I might find that ?

Got to park early and went out on my own on Saturday, it was colder and wetter than expected, didn't make it back to carpark till after 10. Got my 12m done, 2nd half easier than first when wind died down and it got a bit sunnier.

This is the only spot for group runs, generally people speed up/slow down to accommodate the majority on any given day.

I know its a bank holiday weekend, any interest in a LSR Saturday morning?

Dublin match Saturday night, so I dont want to go on the beer Saturday and have 15 miles to do Sunday morning :)

Since Im coming back from a bit of time off, I "intend" to take it easy pace wise...

    Saturday 4th
    Papal Cross Car Park
Time : I'm flexible, but lets say 9am

    Distance : Circa 15 Miles

Don't think that I can make 9.00 but could also be at the Papal Cross for 10. My plan says 20miles tomorrow, will have a few done by the time I get there.
