If it helps, I have I have had the Galaxy S1, Desire HD, Sensation and Galaxy Nexus over the past few years.

I am sort of torn myself if I am honest.

This talk about screen protectors 'gimping' your screen is spurious bunk.

    Buy one.

319 on the lowest tarrif @ 14.23 per month.

    For anyone considering eMobile:

I've only been on the network 2.5 weeks, but so far happy enough, their pricing seems very competitive compared to the rest?

    Hows their data coverage??

The S3 looks pretty impressive alright with all the bells and whistles that come with it, but the One X just looks ( and I would assume feels) alot better and thats a big factor when both phones are such high end. I doubt the small differences in benchmarks will make much of a difference during day to day usage.

Edit: Why o why didn't samsung slap a nicer finish onto the SIII

I've found it adequate, but haven't been outside Dublin since i signed up

I'd guess it's probably identical to Meteor.

I think I'd rather the bigger/removable battery on the S3 personally. I also don't really mind that the look of a phone isn't as polished as others. As long as it has all the functionality I'm looking for then that does it for me.

I have to admit, the large battery is one of the big ticket items that has me very torn.

Not sure if it is work moving from the Galaxy Nexus though - fook all difference ultimately.

Wow that's a good price, how much data with that?

Surely not worth the move, the nexus is itself a beast of a phone. Dig the heels in I would say and wait to see what google have up there sleeve in November with the rumored new nexus devices.

I on the other hand am upgrading from an iPhone 3G *hangs head in shame. It shall be a fairly big hop, skip and enormous leap for me in terms of sheer pocket quad core power.

    Amazon.de released date delayed!!!

Anyone else that ordered from them get an email in German saying it will be a further 1/2 weeks due to production bottlenecks?

here's google translation of the email:

We have just learned of the manufacturer of the item that can be shifted due to bottlenecks in the production of the announced delivery date by approximately 1-2 weeks. This delay does us very sorry!

Your reservation remains in effect and as usual you get an email confirmation once the item is shipped.

We apologize again for the delay and thank you for your understanding.

Ah that sucks, but since you ordered the white one then you may not be affected. Assuming this delay is about the blue version back cover issues.

My guess is they are sending the email out to all Galaxy S3 orders.

Looking on the site, it does say it will take 1 -3 weeks for shipping for the blue version, but the white version still says release is on the 31st.

Yeah i did read somewhere that the blue versions are going to be affected. Hopefully its not the case with the white as I've the s2 presold and I told the chap he'd have it by 5th june for his birthday! oops!!

Didn't think there would be any delays but hopefully not for the white!

I'm guessing that Samsung expected more to go for the white and as such they concentrated on the white one, so the issues with the back cover on the blue devices has thrown them a little. Now I can't imagine there is going to be any delays for the white as it seems alot of reviews and stuff are with the white devices and also the white version is the only one on sale in Dubai.

Plus, I heard it was something like half a million back covers were destroyed due to some issue, but it has also been reported that the factories manufacturing the devices are pumping out around 5 million a month, so there should easily be enough units to go around.

although the 9 million pre orders in the UK alone is somewhat terrifying.

I better get my White one on Wednesday!!:D:D:D

Did you order from amazon.de as well for the white one?

I went with three, as I'm already with them, it just made sense to continue that. Great deal in my opinion.

If three didn't have a decent deal, I would have went with Amazon.de.

Which deal do you go for that's great? I have a quick look and didn't see anything amazing?

If 3 don't provide a custom ROM for the phone you may have problems coz of their weird setup.

How so? I had an S1 on three and it only had the bloated three Rom on it for about 5% of the time till I flashed custom roms. Never any issues.

Well, I was paying €30 a month for for my sim only contract. The phone was free on a 24 month contract and was only an extra €10 a month. That works out at €240 for the phone.

I know alot of people have issues with being in contracts, but I have been with three for a a few years and see no reason to change in the future, so the contract doesn't bother me.

    Also, Unlimited data.

Something worth noting is that tethering/wifi hotspot is no longer permitted on new/renewed contracts since Jan 1st of this year.

A 24 month contract is too long to be waiting for an upgrade. You'll be sorry later.

Don't use tethering, but just checked there and it works fine, and this only a new sim only contract from a few months ago. Don't really mind if it stops working as again, I don't really use tethering or the wifi hotspot.

Well it's 22 months for an upgrade and besides, I can just sell this phone and buy a new one whenever a new device comes out that I want.

To be honest, I would rather get the phone for 240 over two years instead of playing over 550 for it straight up, but as I said, I'm only doing it because I think it's a decent deal, everyone can make their own choices and suit there needs.

Yeah, had thought of that but not sure I like the idea of a 24 month contract. Paying 30 a month with Meteor ATM and the 40x24 isn't bad, just long.

ah no doubt it's long, but again, I will be with them either way and when it comes down to it, I change my phone too much anyway, so at the end of the day once and a while I just get a phone out right for much cheaper instead of forking out more money for the phone right now.

That way I just sell the phone and get a new one with the money. It's a weird way, but i doubt I'm the only one who does it.

As I said, anyone can make up there own mind, this is just how I did it.

Today was the day I was waiting for. A shipload of SGSIII's were due in this morning. I leave my house, in plenty of time. Cruising along in the MR2, top down, sun bearing down, Newstalk blaring at dial 11 cos you can't hear **** with the top down, doing 120 :D It doesn't get better than this.

It's like the anticipation you get when waiting for a pint of Guinness to settle. I don't drink Guinness. Can't stand the stuff, but you get the idea.

    sgsIII_release_01.jpg

Anywho, coming off the M50 and entering the M11, I pass the Cherrywood exit when.... Bang, rear drivers tyre blows. So I get up on the grass verge, put on my hazards, get out of the car and walk down a bit, like a good little safety boy, and ring my insurance. "Come pick me up. I have SGSIII's to ogle over!!!!".

Pick up driver brought me to a tyre shop where they couldn't get the spare tyre out either. Had to break out the hammer and chisel. The Jedi's are going to feel this one.l I didn't have the heart to take a photo of the before [hammer and chisel] or the after [an ugly safety tyre baring out the drivers side rear in glorious yellow].

Anyway, I get into office at 10:30. I run up to the ware house deliveries only to see this

    sgsIII_release_03.jpg

Half of my laughed, half of my died inside. I then trundled back to BOFH central to see THIS ON MY DESK!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    sgsIII_release_02.jpg

I dare anyone to say they aren't jealous, even if it is only a demo model!!!!
