tea bag, would you have any idea whats wrong with my htpc since you seem to know your voltages:D
I have a h61m-itx asrock board with an i3-2105 processor. The odd time I turn it on, say 1 in 5 times, I get "Machine Check Error_" immediately after the bios splash.
Its kinda driving me demented. I came across a thread which I cant find where they say asrock bios (i got latest) is has the gpu (of the cpu) voltage too low or something and it doesnt put enough power to that side of it. I have all the bios settings at default but for the fan speed.
    Any ideas?:D

oh and i didnt do any overclocking on it i just want it to boot up 100% of the time (its fine when it boots and when it doesnt i just turn it off and on again and its alright)

I think i remember reading somewhere that early SB had igp vcore voltages were quite temperamental, but that adding a little bit more fixed all the issues.

ill reboot and take a screen cap of what you should do in the BIOS.

back to this PC im OCing, the annoying thing is so damn good.

    P11129 3DMarks
    on 2500K @4.8ghz @ 1.3v @ 72C max. 2xHD7870 @1ghz

puts my rig to shame :o

Warning: huge image is huge. see attachment.

thats the one to change for igp. on auto, it'll be +0mv, but notch it a step up (my smallest step is +50mv) and see if that fixes the issue.

this is all assuming the igp is the problem AND youre using onboard graphics?

interestingly, the BIOS says my vcore is 1.328v, but CPU-z and HWMonitor say 1.296v. BIOS is probably more correct. not sure if ill bother dropping it any more tbh, im getting lazy and thats well within respectable stuff.

oh that would be amazing if you could tell me what to do:):)
I goggled it so many times but never really got anywhere. Some other people had the same problem but I never even got a hint of an answer until i came across that thread on the voltages which I thought I bookmarked:rolleyes:
    Thanks alot.
That other stuff I dont understand looks real impressive:D

edit: thanks a million tea bag that is a major help to me! I will set it up +1 notch as you did. Brilliant. I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you very much

@Tea: voltage drops occur twice. Once going from BIOS to OS, and then from idle to load. That's why you're seeing slightly lower. I have my vcore set to 1.325. Under Windows it comes out at 1.31 according to HWMonitor.

Just put my rig back on the bench and a bit of fiddling.

my 3D mark is up to P13010

    Thanks tea bag,
    Im using onboard graphics yeah.
I cant seem to find the igpu voltages in the bios. It seems you have the OC tweaker page open but I cant see the section with the voltage controls
here are some photos i took of my bios

    OC tweaker bottom

    thanks for looking tea bag.
Maybe you need to be able to overclock the processor to up the voltage on the gpu but this board doesnt support it?
When I enable GT OverClocking Support i get
    GT OverClocking Frequency : 1100
    GT OverClocking Voltage : auto

when i click GT OverClocking Voltage : auto
i get another pop up with the following:
    auto
    +0.05v
    +0.10v
    +0.15v
    +0.20v
    +0.25v

I usually like to make a comment warning people about overpriced stuff but it often doesn't end well for me.

also: Just got my G500 that I bought of Headshot, massive improvement over my old one.
I wasn't sure if I'd notice the huge increase in dpi or not but I really do.

its locked yae. and even a K series will be locked on a H67 chipset. not looking to change freq or multi though, just voltage. surely they allow you to change voltages??!

im gonna be honest ive no idea what that is for, but it looks like small steps anyway so it couldnt hurt to go +0.05

    orighty
I was just thrown by the fact it said "GT overclock" and I assumed it dealt exclusively with the clock and multiplier, as the Gigabyte one does.

I was dicking around with 3d mark 11 this morning and was able to get this score from my 2x 6970`s maxed out and over volted a touch...950/1450

This is the score I got from my normal gaming gpu OC.930/1430

    Cpu is at 4.8ghz

"not too bad for a bucket`o bolts"

    nice!

I want to do a bigger OC on my 6990, but the temps get too high. I can reduce them but the fan profile is limited to 50% max, and any higher makes it sound like a jet taking off.

also, that test I ran was at 4.6Ghz. for some reason since changing motherboard, I cant get a stable 4.8 yet. the settings are quite different to my z68. I got bored quickly though. I'm heavily GPU limited in gaming at the moment. CPU hovers around 50% and peak at 70% when things go boom boom!

Didn't you put your 6990 under water a few weeks ago?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

no. exams got in the way, and the money was diverted. I'm finished tomorrow though so I'll be getting back into it.

Im running after market coolers on the cards so its not too bad at all..
The 690 is on its way though...2 more months and should have the shillings for it and a catleap...

The plan is to be able to play bf3 on ultra and @ 100hz/100fps on the monitor..

At the moment with my 6970`s and lg w2363d monitor(1080) im getting 100+fps on medium settings running the monitor @120hz..

Its very smooth but its no ULTRA...If you know what I mean:cool:
