Just placed my order for the dell monitor with komplett now :D. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just read here that they don't. If they did, I'd be all over it, but it just doesn't look right only lighting up one end.. I mean, why bother?

God, that's disgusting. It's just such a basic thing, I assumed it would. I've seen other keyboards that do exactly that. Well now we know why it's so cheap. Apparently LEDs have gone up in price recently.

If you're ok with US layouts, there's a bunch of other keyboards to choose from. The Razer Black Widow Ultimate Stealth (I know, ridiculously big name) being the best option (IMO) of the lot.

I considered that, is there any difference over the non-ultimate version other than the lighting? Kompletts are selling them both, but the non-ultimate version is almost 40euro cheaper.

I'm still drawn towards the CM Trigger at the moment.

There's the BW, that's just standard non-backlight, MX Blue.
BW Ultimate, that's backlight, MX Blue.
BW Stealth, that's non-backlight, MX Brown.
BW US that's backlit, MX Blue.

No other differences as far as I can tell.

I'm not even going to bother telling you not to buy a Razer keyboard, but don't let your experience with it lead you to dismiss mechanical keyboards altogether.

Not all mass-market brands are crap. I've used a Lycosa myself for a while, and that was fairly cheap. The Black Widow on the other hand is very well made. If I had to guess I'd say it's slightly less well built than a Steelseries G6v2 (the only other mech. I've used) but that's about it. It's always gotten very good reviews, an nothing bad in terms of quality. There was one guy on XS (I think) who took the whole thing apart, and found that it was very well built internally.

Gah, too many choices, which one to pick!?!?

I'm still more inclined to go for one of the CM keyboards, so I'll wait for them to email back and see.

Yeah, while I've never used it I've only heard good things about the BW. Only piece of Razer gear I've owned is the Salmosa, which I've been using for almost 5 years without a problem.

On the topic of mechanical keyboards, I just purchased a Filco Majestouch 2-Ninja Tenkey less on keyboardco.com. I plan on buying some white keys to go along with it. Is wasdkeyboards.com the best place to buy these?

Yeah, but you should wait until they release the PBT versions next month (better than the ABS plastic they use currently).

I'm guessing you got a US layout? I think TKBC are waiting to restock their UK lines...

Ok, I will wait for the PBT, thanks.

And no, I got a UK layout, they have loads in stock according to their site.

Would I be hit by much tax if I got a friend in the US to buy a keyboard over there, and then ship it to me?

Hmm, maybe it's just the reds that I was thinking of. I'd like to get a Filco TKL this summer to replace my Choc Mini.

This stuff is what I use. Those wipes look good, but you'd need some sort of solvent as well.

    And yeah, Ceramique is good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭sosmyface

thanks Serephucu, they wont ship that here, in fact I cant find any that will ship here. I will just write it down and go into the pharmacy durning the week and hope they have it. I ordered coffee filters as I read they were pretty good for removing it (along with a solution of course)... I dont know what im gonna do with the 349 I dont use:D

Heh, you won't get ArctiClean in a chemist. It's made by Arctic Silver, the same people who make thermal pastes and a few other things. ;)

My wife is a nurse she'll often have those small prep alcohol wipes in her pocket when she comes home from work. They do the job fine for me. Each one has 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. I bet you could get them from a chemist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭FlyingIrishMan

Scan emailed me back telling me they only stock the European version with Black keys :(
I found a German website that sells the Trigger with all they keys, so I emailed them asking if it only is available in German layout.

I mean i will just buy isopropyl alcohol at the chemist it seems to be the recommended solution.
FlyingIrishMan that means they probably wont have any other versions of the cm storm apart from black switches which i dont want
