I also have a sweet tooth, i stew a few stalks of rhurbarb in 1/4 water and add pkt of sugarfree jelly and stir until its dissolved. When its cooled i add 1/2 of 1% fat free cottage cheese and fatfree yoghurt, i whizz them together and add cold water to bring it to 1pt. I use a pyrex jug. I keep this in the fridge and it lasts for 3 days approx. Its fantastic for when i need something sweet.

Use with free fruit as well. I hope this is ok as i'm fairly new to SW.

Hi arandale - yep my sister has something similar to that in her fridge for the sweet cravings!

Stayed the same at WI last wednesday. Had a party on Saturday whick was my only blow out so hoping that this week will be a loss or at the very least stay the same.

The next few weeks have nothng major happening so should get a good run at it. Still really enjoying the plan and cooking lots and eating well. Saturday went waaay over SYNS but well within each other day.

Made a lush duck stir fry tonight, all free food. Smoked chicken salad for lunch was really tasty.

Thanks Whelan1, i forgot about the release of the sugar. I'm hoping as i spread it over a few days the syns are less.

Still learning. This is what i like about this site there is always who knows more. Thanks again.:)

Hi all going joining sw tomorrow really nervous about weigh in, gave up smoking 2 years ago and substituted ciggies for food lol,,, great to be able to share receipes and give support,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,824 ✭✭✭robo

Hi Marleymo, welcome to our SW thread! Go with an open mind and a determined mind and you will be fine! I gave up cigarettes 9 years ago and piled on the weight. But hey if you have the strength to give them up, you have the strength to follow SW cos instead of giving up, you are substituting! Honestly, you can fill up on a lot of foods and you just have to be careful with others, that is where your syns come into play! But listen, go there and listen to the talk and remember everyone in that meeting was in the same boat as you when they started. And sure you know where we are here if you need any help or just support ;)

Hey guys! just poping into say hello!
i'm back to SW after a disasterful few weeks diet wise when i knew that i needed to go back. i'm back to my starting weight again but this time doing it all from home and hoping to succeed. i've no excuse as its nearly summer and i need to do this for myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,166 ✭✭✭carolinespring

Had my WI this evening and stayed the same which was ok as I had a loss every other week and after a party on Saturday was more than I really could have hoped for.

Aiming for a really good week. Have all my meals planned for the next 2 days and on Friday will sit down with the SW cooking books and decide on 5 dinners for next week, which will allow for one take away and a lunch out.

Ahh I hope so! I upped my exercise last week and also did 3/4 red days which I think really helped. I'm a vegetarian so I just had things like quorn chicken fillets or mince on my red days. I feel 100x better when I'm not eating potatoes/rice/pasta every day too!

The funny thing is this week I ate more food than the previous weeks, also had a lot more syns..used 8+ every day and last week was around 4 a day...and I had a better loss! Makes me very happy.

Pound land/dealz opened here, went in today.. Great value on things like weight watchers wholemeal bread (heB) and velvet crunch crisps (4 syns a bag) they're both things I buy weekly and over a euro cheaper each than tesco. Also got some weight watchers chocolate which is 2 syns a serving, will have one of those when I crave chocolate! :)

I weigh myself every morning to keep myself on track and for the last two days I'm up 3lbs even though I'm sticking to plan 100% and only using about 10 syns a day!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,964 ✭✭✭ToniTuddle

You really shouldn't weigh yourself everyday as your body goes through constant changes and can easily be up a few pound some days.
By weighing everyday and seeing these rises here and there it can throw you off and make you feel bad.

Even if you are doing it 100% your body is still getting used to you being on this healthier lifestyle can take few weeks even months for some folks bodies to adjust!:) The consultants in SW don't recommend you weigh everyday so maybe try and avoid it?

Tatabubby i know exactly how you feel , i was back at week one weight wise 2 weeks ago after bad weeks, lost 3 and a half last week so was back on track, this week i am not looking forward to as its my time of the month and ive had a good bit of choc and stuff i shouldnt plus weather so bad didnt get out to exercise much , if i stay the same ill be happy

dont give up we all hit road blocks, will all be worth it when we get to goal :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭polly27

Hi all how how your week and weekend been, im not looking forward to weigh in tues, not that i was bad, just that its my time of month and i feel like a whale and had choc and other stuff i shouldnt have had, plus its been such bad weather all week i didnt get much exercise, im not saying i didnt go as it was raining its just im just over a really bad dose of flu and dont want it again, if i manage to stay the same this week ill be happy,

i agree with Tonituddle you should not weigh yourself every day as every day varies, i used to do it and had myself driven mad, like my scales at home could say im up 2 and i go to class and im down 2 so just stick by the scales in slimming world once a week

    good luck everyone ,

Marley if you're doing extra easy you need to have 1/3 superfree with every meal including breakfast

Oh really ok must start eating fruit, why is that does that help, sorry for ignorance but first week, going to confirmation today gonna have to be really good thanks dee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Daisy M

I had some melon and grapes and a banana for breakfast along with a fat free yogurt and am so suprised at how full I was after. Since starting new job I have been struggling with brekkie, I am not a great eater first thing so was struggling to eat mu usual beans on toast plus the 1/3 superfree. I was just having the toast and banana and was starved by lunch. For lunch I had a salad with ham and chicken with a little fat free dressing and again I am amazed how full I am.
I think dinner is going to be a beef stir fry and sw chips yum yum!! 2 alpen bars for hexb and milk in my tea for hexa. And upto 15 syns to use too crikey thats a lot of food:)

Marleymoo the superfree help to keep you fuller for longer and also limit how much free food you eat during the meal. When I eat a meal I make sure I always finish my superfree and usually find I am too full to finish whatever meat/carbs I have along with it.

Yeah the point of super free is to fill us up so we can't have as much meat, carbs, etc on our plate. Some people (myself included) don't always have their 1/3 super free on their plate, so instead you should eat it *before* your meal (if it's a piece of fruit for example!)

Got a text from my consultant yesterday, I got slimmer of the week last week :) didn't stay to group so just finding out now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 758 ✭✭✭bubbaloo

Howdy All? Well tomorrow will be my second weigh in and to be honest i'm not too coinfident about it. My first week on SW went really well and I was down 3.5lbs, but this past week I spent 4 days in my mother-in-law's house and she's a feeder! Anyway, I'm back on track since I came home on Sunday. I was a bit sick of eating Weetabix every day for brekkie so I bought the Weetabix minis for a bit of variety. Oh dear God - has anyone weighed out 30g of those? It's about 10 pieces - tiny tiny tiny - it would never fill me so I'm adding a bit more in and using my syns. And eating lots of fruit afterwards!

If I stay the same this week I'll be happy, considering the long weekend I had. Hope you're all feeling good and positive this week.

Oh - why's that then? Is there a difference between eating it before or after a meal?

You are meant to eat the superfree (doesnt have to be fruit) with your meal so either directly before or after is fine. If you are eating the superfree after your meal just be sure to leave room for it!!

Any easy to cook main that I would do is Spaghetti Bolognes - it is good for dinner parties because you can serve it whenever everyone is there and leave it simmering in the pot without having to worry about spoiling it. Also, it can be very low in syns, with the mince being the only syned part. I have a recipe that I use all of the time and is yum. You can bulk it up with veg and serve with salad or pasta, so if you wanna save your syns for the desert, then this would be a good main.
A starter could be anything with salad...prawns and some Light thousand island dressing with it. I am not the greatest cook so might leave it at that for a suggestion.

Deserts...something with fruit and sugar free jelly, like a moose and topped with the small meringues that you get in Aldi/Lidl or M&S, they are 1 syn each. Add to others deserts some broken up chocolate flake?
Oh and enjoy your meal...if you do go over your syns with food & drink, then make sure to get back on track the next morning and you will be fine!

Well done on your loss this week ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,461 ✭✭✭dee.

Daisy we were told (I have seen it posted many places online too) that if your 1/3 super free is not on your plate then you eat it before the meal.

The purpose of super free is to fill us up, if you eat your meal and then your superfree afterwards, it defeats the whole purpose of it because chances are you're already full from your main meal and just eating the superfree for the sake of it...

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭polly27

Robo: thanks so much for all the tips your very good, im going to enjoy myself dont worry and i have a long walk planned for sat morning hail rain or snow, thanks its very slow but going in the right direction, good luck this week , let me know how you get on :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,276 ✭✭✭kitten_k

Polly I would make soup to start, a curry or carbonara for main and a strawberry cheesecake for dessert. I can post the recipes tomorrow if you want?

Not sure if people are aware of these two sites which I find useful:

Thanks Dee and Daisy - but believe me, the few bits of Weetabix minis I have for my breakfast won't fill me up so there's plenty of room for my fruit! :o

Polly - Chile Con Carne with extra lean mince is totally free and totally delicous. If you want to syn a little bit you can add cheese and/or sour cream. Enjoy! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Daisy M

Dee I prefer to eat my fruit first if that is the 1/3 rd superfree with my meal because I know I will forget after, my C didnt seem to think it made a difference but lot of their interpretations of the plans vary from group to group.

Just a word of warning on minimins, I love this site too but it was recently hacked as a member I received a warning about this so I am wary about it now!!
