excellent will look great once fitted, is it hard to fit on curved surfaces i want to fit mine on an auris part of it will be the weird Y shaped piece that sweeps down to the handbrake its an odd shape with curves, also is that the 3m stuff that can be got handy enough off ebay?

I used a heat gun to soften the vinyl so you can mould it around the curves without creases or bubbles. My Astra only has one major curved part though....the Auris would be a right nightmare I recon.

    The finished job.....

Its a very rare original Irish S14a Touring:)

Myself and a mate are going to completely rebuild it from the nuts and bolt up to factory original with a view to keeping it as a future classic!

Make sure you have a really sharp blade before you start. For the edges/corners I just put little slits in the vinyl so it could fold around without creasing.

I don't like to say it but it's missing one or two bits.

Quick tip: If it doesn't start on the button it's because the engine is missing.

    Todays Effort:

Another few hours lost on the car...This is a mammoth task hopefully I will have this all done by end of month..and then I will move onto a wheel refurb.

Claybar Kit...what a godsend..Following recommendation from last week I picked one up...I rubbed my hand on the panel from last week and its not near as smooth as the clayed wing...Its like glass!.

    img0340large.jpg

    img0345large.jpg

Again I only did 1 wing as it can get frustrating!

BEFORE: This scratching was visible without the halogen light: It annoyed me looking at it.

    img0342large.jpg

AFTER: Still a small scrape and little scratching up a 90% improvement...if all goes to all these can be filled with SRP..
I am going to move on and come back to the dificult ones at the end.

    img0359large.jpg

    BEFORE: Somemore scratching

    img0344large.jpg

    img0349large.jpg

    After: 95% Improvment over all.

    img0351large.jpg

    img0352large.jpg

    img0355large.jpg

Some stone chips need sorting and paint 'bubbling' (a common issue on MR2 paint)

    img0356large.jpg

    Difference between panels:

    img0358large.jpg

    MILLER TIME!!!!!!!!!! :D

Jesus man, someone must have gone at the car with a brillo pad and I'm not saying that to use a cliché, I'm being serious!

    Excellent job done though!

The 2 wings are the worst of it...I need to clay the other wing now and do some more cutting.

All wheels came out lovely but with two gripes. The old curbing marks look brand new now lol. The second was when I forgot one of the wheels was badly damaged and had filler and a DIY paint job on it. That wheel is now half silver lol. :pac:

Testing my van all this on its mpg... Brimming the tank each time with the same fuel brand (esso!)

Heavy city driving but long journeys 48mpg.

Driving the lard out of it to see my ladyfriend, 42mpg.

Sawing up and down country roads today looking for a particular place, 45mpg.

I'm hoping to crack the 50 mpg with some careful driving :D

Also, glued the gearknob on, it flew off today

Today I gave the carpet on the driver's side a good, well-deserved wash.

    Seat out:

    photouckgpq.jpg

    It's a heavy b@startd:

    photo4wm.jpg

After 2 passes of AG carpet shampoo, wet microfiber, wet&dry vac, a dry microfiber to mop up anything the vac didn't get and a normal hoover to bring back the pile:

    The scene today:

It was tough and tiring work but well worth it. I'm going to do the passenger side tomorrow :)

S15 are nice alright, but I'm a big fan of the subtlety of the s14a. They were nice and cheap too at one stage, presume they are all bought up for drifting now.

Was it the clay got rid of the swirls? I thought you'd have to polish to do that. Have the same kit hanging around for ages, must do the Mini.
