    Hi Damie,

    Thanks for explaining that.
By the way I bought 2 samsung galaxy mini's before x-mas for €60 each. Great little android phone (except for the battery usage). Have herself on meteor and mine on Tesco mobile will be changing that to meteor soon. Couldn't afford any of the more expensive phones.

Hope you get your samsung soon.

    Cheers,
    Freebee23

Got my sim on Friday. Phoned this morning to port and was told it would be 24-48 hours....... literally 5 minutes later I had no service on my vodafone sim and I was ported.
Very impressed with the speed of service. I also noticed the bonus data on my account, would be nice if that stays, although I doubt I'll even come close to 1GB.
Can I just confirm, are we allowed to tether on Meteor? I see that the APN is the same for tethering so I presume the answer is yes?

What should my plan be called now?Its showing up as :Bill Pay Smart Lite EUR30 - 1 Month. Is that correct?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,931 ✭✭✭Zab

Yes. That's the package we all have. The 15 euro is a discount which should appear on your bill.

Is anyone having issues trying to get this deal?

Last night I tried to submit all my details and once I clicked submit it sent me to a cinfirmation page but displayed nothing. I tried redoing the application but it just wouldnt process correctly.

Now when I go to click on their deal at https://phones.meteor.ie/phones/sim_only/ I get the message "The page you were looking for doesn't exist. You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved."

Please dont tell me this deal is over?

I checked it earlier and it was "due to end soon".

    Now I get:

I dont believe it. Typical. I tried to do it last night and it just wouldnt process. I think I really missed out on this deal

I got my first bill and the muppets at Meteor out me down for €25 per month instead of allowing me the online discount of €10 and making my bill 15 per month! I owed them for 2 weeks too because of the date the bill fell on and was charged €42. Had to ring up and explain my situation and I'm not entirely confident that the same won't happen next month! They refused to reissue me a correct bill for my accounting records and just credited my account 20e!

Have had nothing but trouble with the change over - took over 10days to get my sim card, Meteor took 50e deposit from my account (but not my gfs) and when I rang up to get my old number back the guy didn't do it correctly so it took 3 days and a few needless phone calls and I missed incoming calls and texts to my old number for that period!

Similar situation to you. Best bet is to document everything by emailing them at the stuff@meteor.ie address. They are fairly quick to respond to emails.

Despite the tears and hassle, this is a very good offer and worth it once they finally sort everything out.

Also didn't realise it but Meteor customers are able to get free access to the various Eircom Wifi hubs around the place.

    Might be useful for some.

They are having issues at the moment. I called twice this morning and their system is down. I can't login to mymeteor either. Id say check back later.

No deal says you have to pay €1.00 for the sim

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 579 ✭✭✭Gareth2011

Yeah thats new was that only put up in the today? I don't remember seening it there yesterday.

As far as I know it has always been like that. I had to pay €1 which goes towards the shipping. The sim is sent out by DPD so I am sure its costing Meteor a lot more than €1.

I went through the steps as far as putting in my number to port. Have already joined this deal so cant go any further but it seems to be adding to the basket ok.

Pretty sure I didn't pay anything for the sim. Still a good deal at €1 obviously but they should stop referring to it as free.

Just phoned Customer Care, asked to change from my current plan (€15 per month, 200min/texts + free meteor calls&texts) to the one with the data.

He put me on hold for thirty seconds and said that's done, that the plan will come into effect on my next billing date. Lovely. Thanks Meteor :)

Just swapped back over from 3 there. About 20 minutes for the port to happen. Job!

    There's a change though.
When I ordered the sim the other day, it was the Bill Pay Lite 30 (or something!) which was €30 reducing to €15.25.
They've since changed their pricing on the website. Now there doesn't seem to be a name on the plan, the instore price is reduced to €20.33, and the online price is still at the reduced rate of €15.25.

Don't know if that'll have a bearing on anything in the future (the fact that some people are Billpay 30 paying €15, and others are on "no-name" paying €15), but that's where things stand at the minute.

If im not mistaken the plan for online price of 15.25 PM was always 20.33 in store? I think it was because I just went onto an 18 month contract last night and paid 30 yoyo for my phone on it. Its a phone plan (not sim only) 200 mins, 200 texts and 500mb data but no free meteor to meteor. I went on that plane because if I had of gone onto the 15.25 per month I would have had to pay 130 for phone. So I was watching which was cheaper for me. I would have perfered even the 20.33 in store (15.25 online) because of free meteor to meteor but couldn't on account of having to pay 130 squid for the phone :(

Just got my 3rd bill and its wrong again. They are still charging me 30 euros. I'm fuming right now.

Does anyone know where the Live Chat option is gone on their website?

This is what I was talking about above.
You're signed up for Billpay 30, but that doesn't exist anymore, and the non-discounted price is now €20.
So depending on when you signed up, if your bill is wrong, you'll either be paying €20 or €30!

The first 2 time I rang them they halved the bill straight away and told me they were sorted.

I'm not worried about not getting the deal. I'm just pissed off that I have to ring them every month.

Here you go. The chat will just pop up after 20-30 seconds or so. They don't have set times so the arbitrary nature is a bit ridiculous. I think it's from 12-4 or 5 though.

If I send a text and check the balance it s minus 1 text.same with minutes but no matter what data Ive used its still at 1gb.I'm not complaining but I was wondering is it calculated at the end of the month or what?

Just got my first bill and like a lot of peoples here its not right. Was on the phone to customer services who informed me that the pro rata period is not discounted. I signed up on the 28th of Jan but my billing period does not start until the 9th of Feb and so got charged full price for the period.

Has this happened to anyone else or was he just fobbing me off. Sounded like he ran out of answers and couldnt even get my invoice up on his screen.
