Jesus the amount of people whinging because its set in a particular city. Just because it is in Los Santos does not mean its going to be the same game as GTA 4 or GTA San Andreas. Every GTA Game released so far has been very different in terms of tone and what you can do in the actual game.

GTA IV (IMO) was the worst GTA ever and was a leap back in terms of everything but graphics.

This will be the second San Andreas :)

When they try something new, they usually get onto a winner. Vice City was something new and different - everyone loved it.

San Andreas was somewhere new and different - everyone loved it.

As I said before, I'm sure if V was Liberty again, they'd still find a way to make it look amazing, so I'm not saying the game will be bad or anything, but I just think they're getting too comfortable. I don't want to play Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas for the rest of my life because Rockstar have their tried and tested formula.

I'm certain that if they went somewhere new, they'd do a killer map, and they'd get people very excited.

Discovery is the biggest part of GTA. Storylines, missions and vehicles/weapons are secondary. It's all about exploring and discovering. It's hard to not feel like the series is a bit stale when you're 'exploring' the same place over and over again :(
it's been San Andreas, Liberty and Vice City since day 1. Bar the London expansion and 'Anywhere USA' from GTA 2 every GTA has been set in those 3 locations. It has hardly hampered the series. The San Andreas from this game will be vastly different to the one we've seen previously too.

I noticed the 2405 thing on the pavement when i looked at the video a couple of times. Also if you look at the homeless holding the sign he is holding the left side with 2 fingers and the right side with 4.....

    Capture_80.jpg

Well he's hardly going to be holding it with 6 fingers on his left hand. :pac::pac:

But no, seriously, its an odd coincidence.

Really don't know why people say this. GTA IV was a huge step forward in the series physics-wise. Driving, character models, shooting, NPCs etc were so much better. OK so you can't fly around in a jetpack but the fun element came back in the DLCs. They had to build GTA IV from the ground up. A lot of things were lacking and they had to delay it, to release a product like they did was a fantastic achievement and if it was anything other than a GTA title then people would have loved it imo.

Because there hasn't been a single game since GTA SA that you aren't able to just walk in and pick up on release day. Pre ordering is pointless.

GTA 4 was nowhere to be found in Limerick when it was released.I was forced to pay 90 euro for the limited edition out in Harvey Normans.Everywhere else was sold out

Liam, you've been posting every now and again here for awhile now. You know people will not give credit where credit is due and will make sweeping, ludicrous statements for the sake of it. IV will be made out to be simply crap by a few here and they'll no way accept that progression was made and that GTA IV laid the foundation for GTA V in a significant way. As you, and lord knows I have as well, said above.. if it wasn't titled GTA. I don't think many here would be whining about it. IV was by no means perfect before anyone starts :) Long story short, you are wasting you're time trying to rationalise and bring sense into this :D

    20 Pages already :pac:

Only a Grand Theft Auto trailer could cause such hysteria!

Looks brilliant though, can't wait for some further trailers.

This will be the second San Andreas :)

No,this will be the third San Andreas as CMpunked rightly pointed out.The first San Andreas was in GTA 1 and the second San Andreas was in GTA San Andreas so GTA V will hopefully be the third incarnation of San Andreas

Started playing San Andreas again in the last few hours. Its crazy that I never really played the game while I played every other GTA game to bits ...

And san andreas is actually a good game :)
I totally forgot about the ability to bulk CJ up, to rob buildings in side missions, The lo-rider cars, pimpin' side missions, the vast scale of it ... How come alot of this wasnt in GTA4? ... i know there was some negative feedback with it. But they really slashed alot with GTA4.

You're absolutely correct. Not sure why but I wasn't acknowledging the 2D games.

To be honest, the 2D games aren't really much interest to me. The level of exploration didn't really exist back then. You got a feel for the map, but there was nothing to the games the way there is in a 3D game.

(I should poin tout that I loved and adored the 2D games, and I've been playing GTA since the original one. I mean for this particular city/map argument, 2D doesn't really bother me or have any real affect).

As said before, GTAIV was a progressive title that was built from scratch.

GTA IV is a brilliant game, great story and the mechanics are sublime. I really don't get the criticism.

San Andreas I think was the best GTA story and gamewise, I mean it had it all, but it wouldn't have been possible without building the preceding GTAs.

Apologies for the terrible quality of the pic below...

    large_street_signs16x9.jpg

But if you can make it out, it shows the sign for Interstate 5. Now from my own research (I'm bored), it is indeed a real highway and is one that runs from San Fran to LA, down to San Diego and into Tijuana, Mexico..... Hype machine has gone into overdrive! :pac:

You're right there. The 2d games were of a different time and quality of course and the level of exploration was of a seriously less amount than nowadays but like yourself i started off back in the day with GTA 1 and GTA London and i got so so many hours of entertainment from these games and i think they should always be acknowledged even though people seem to concentrate nowadays from GTA 3 on which is a shame really, but understandable

    I agree.
But thats the thing about San Andreas it will officially be the third time its been used in an GTA game. However I feel it will only really be the second true time its been in a game. The 2D GTA games kinda dont count as comparing the 2d city of san andreas versus the 3d city is a no contest.

As in the picture with clouds there are contrails. Maybe you can take flights to far away places or even HIJACK planes!

I was actually thinking last night that I could see them allowing plane hijackings. Purely to generate controversy in the press of course. I can already hear the complaints coming into Joe.
