How many married people do you know have cheated on partner?

Of the couples I know, I don't really know many married ones, so I don't really know many who've cheated. Weirdly, cheating seems less likely among co-habiting couples. Maybe they've already gone their separate ways before the relationship gets to a point when cheating is likely, I guess?

A job I had some years ago meant I was away from home a lot, I also liked the sauce a bit at that time in my life. I've lost count of the number of bars I've staggered out of. I've also lost count of the number of women I've brought with me, for whatever reason, whether people get lonely, enjoying the thrill, like meeting new people, etc, etc., it's only when you connect with someone that everyone else doesn't matter.

Almost all the married people I know have at some stage kissed other people when drunk. I think many people dont see that as cheating. Less have slept with other people (that I know of), bit still a good few.

Its hard to tell I know a few but I still wouldn't be able to guess how prevalent it is,
    I'm optimistic though.

Never been married, but all but one of the chicks I've gone out with have cheated, which has almost completely put me off the idea of marriage. I'm a lousy lay.

As regards to married people I know, three of the four I know have cheated, two were the women one was the guy. I feel forgiveness is like saying "It's OK, you can do it again, sure." If you're in a relationship where you're unhappy, just get out of it, then **** whoever you please.

To be honest, my first wife cheated while we were married with a co-worker.
Gave her and our marriage a second try, when I discovered she did it again, it was game over or should I say marriage!

Don't know about the ratio as regards Ireland but I do know some countries rank way above others for some reason for extra-marital affairs.

For the record: I have never cheated. I'm old fashioned when it comes to love and honour.

You are a good man, Biggins. I think I remember you mentioning the ex before, and I think it's commendable you gave her a second chance. She didn't deserve it though, even if she didn't carry on doing what she was doing.

The positive part, and the best bit of all is - if she hadn't cheated you wouldn't have met your current wife :)

Not only would I not want to do it - I just couldn't face the guilt and hurt it would do to my partner.

This would be me, it just wouldn't happen, drunk or sober. People use drink as an excuse, and it would never be something that I'd be willing to accept. It's cowardly.

I've heard about a lot of cheating, seen it in action. Sickens me.

Couldn't do it myself but I know loads that would and do. They are married. I also know several women who were sleeping with multiple married men simultaneously. The men were all mates too and they didn't know they were all having an affair with the same woman.

To be fair to her. She had an amazing pair of hips. You'd be tempted.

I like my beer and the one and only time it crossed my mind to be unfaithful I was very full of drink. The thought lasted about ten seconds and then I felt guilty as hell. In fact I felt guilty for a couple days afterwards even though I did nothing. I just couldn't bear to hurt her the truth be known.

I'd say a lot of people have had that moment you had, but you chose to opt out. Thats nothing not a bad thing, that is a good thing :)

Well only found out today that my neighbour who got married two wends ago has already split from his wife because she was sleeping with her boss for ages.

Have a friend who constantly cheats on his wife too and another who getting married in 5 weeks and he slept with woman on stag in Liverpool.

I would say of the married couples I know friends wise 50% them at least one has cheated...

Alot of people cheat. Its f*cked up.
But you could never get accurate numbers of how many do ... as people would never openly admit.

The amount of married men/attached out there on dating sites is phenemonal. It takes some time to get to know what the clues are.

No wonder some single women are put off dating sites, I bet most of their wives don't know what their husbands are at either when they are busy on the internet late at night.

Maybe, because I am female, I have not experienced the bride cheating, so maybe some fellas can come here with their experiences?

Having said that, I am constantly amazed how these men, who really appear to be sound, decent blokes can compartmentalize their lives like that? Pursuing single women for sex, and making themselves believe it something utterly different from their lives, as a husband and a father.

I love the idea of a wedding, vowing in front of your friends and family that this is the person you love and want to spend the rest of your life with. Yet, that is bollix unless you really know that person.

So many people do the traditional marriage thing, and are one person at home and another online, or in the office or pub/club.

I had an 'affair'. I say affair loosely as we never went the full mile, i was riddled with guilt and put and end to it before it got too far. I could say we were over(husband) as he worked nearly 24/7 and often over seas but it was still very wrong. We are over now and i regret it ever since. I could never ever do it again!

I think it would be unfair to say that there is no wisdom to be gleaned from a cheating male or female. Sexual deviancy/incompetence/promiscuity has zero to do with wisdom. And where did i say i was a cheater?

Some years back, one of my staff , a young apprentice brought a scanner to work, he thought it was great listening to people's mobile conversations( 088 days) and he was highly amused at the amount of affairs going on in the area, how we laughed when it turned out to be his own mother involved in at least 3 of them.
