Well only found out today that my neighbour who got married two wends ago has already split from his wife because she was sleeping with her boss for ages.

Have a friend who constantly cheats on his wife too and another who getting married in 5 weeks and he slept with woman on stag in Liverpool.

I would say of the married couples I know friends wise 50% them at least one has cheated...

To be honest, my first wife cheated while we were married with a co-worker.
Gave her and our marriage a second try, when I discovered she did it again, it was game over or should I say marriage!

Don't know about the ratio as regards Ireland but I do know some countries rank way above others for some reason for extra-marital affairs.

For the record: I have never cheated. I'm old fashioned when it comes to love and honour.

I know very few that have. I take any gossip with a large pinch of salt. Most gossip has a malcious/ulteriour purpose.

It happens alright, Don't think it would be 50/50 overall,

You only hear about couples who are splitting up,

You never hear people say look at that couple there really happy,

Anyway if you only finding out after you got married that your partner was cheating on you you didn't really no him/her in the first place.

Damn man, sorry to hear that.

I know of a fair few lads from my old soccer and gaa teams who wouldn't give it a second thought - I was always uncomfortable when out with them, I knew the wives

I know of a heap of people who have done it/do it and don't give it a second thought.

It is very much widespread and a lot of it has to do with our drinking culture and the old Cat-lick idea of "having" to get married.

Males always think that they are the only ones that cheat, women are faaaaar more devious when it comes to other relationships.
all my friends have cheated on their partners save one!!He's totally whipped though, his wife is very wealthy.;)

My ex done it, hence the "ex" bit.

I know loads. Some choose to hide from it and pretend it's not happening because the thoughts of being forced to face reality is worse.

People cheat for loads of different reasons and it's rarely great sex.

As a single woman, I get propositioned relatively frequently by married men, particularly since I have lived in 'vacation' cities (Madrid and Miami). Come to think of it, I think the first thread I started ever on boards was on that very subject - some men seem to think that vacation time = single pass.

Personally I have a few male friends who have cheated on their spouses, but having known them for years, they have always cheated on their girlfriends as well, so I can't say that I'm surprised.

I also have one female friend who has come very close to physically cheating, although she was clearly having an emotional affair. I only found out about it because she called me hysterical after her husband literally threw her across the room when she told him. :(

I was at a wedding and in the residents bar, the groom scorerd a girl at the wedding  ...and before people give out to me, I was not friends with either bride or groom, I was there as my boyfriends +1 and he had no balls :D

Edit : Just to confirm he did actually physically have balls and other male components

Of the couples I know, I don't really know many married ones, so I don't really know many who've cheated. Weirdly, cheating seems less likely among co-habiting couples. Maybe they've already gone their separate ways before the relationship gets to a point when cheating is likely, I guess?

A job I had some years ago meant I was away from home a lot, I also liked the sauce a bit at that time in my life. I've lost count of the number of bars I've staggered out of. I've also lost count of the number of women I've brought with me, for whatever reason, whether people get lonely, enjoying the thrill, like meeting new people, etc, etc., it's only when you connect with someone that everyone else doesn't matter.

Almost all the married people I know have at some stage kissed other people when drunk. I think many people dont see that as cheating. Less have slept with other people (that I know of), bit still a good few.

Its hard to tell I know a few but I still wouldn't be able to guess how prevalent it is,
    I'm optimistic though.

Never been married, but all but one of the chicks I've gone out with have cheated, which has almost completely put me off the idea of marriage. I'm a lousy lay.

As regards to married people I know, three of the four I know have cheated, two were the women one was the guy. I feel forgiveness is like saying "It's OK, you can do it again, sure." If you're in a relationship where you're unhappy, just get out of it, then **** whoever you please.

You are a good man, Biggins. I think I remember you mentioning the ex before, and I think it's commendable you gave her a second chance. She didn't deserve it though, even if she didn't carry on doing what she was doing.

The positive part, and the best bit of all is - if she hadn't cheated you wouldn't have met your current wife :)

I've heard about a lot of cheating, seen it in action. Sickens me.

Couldn't do it myself but I know loads that would and do. They are married. I also know several women who were sleeping with multiple married men simultaneously. The men were all mates too and they didn't know they were all having an affair with the same woman.

To be fair to her. She had an amazing pair of hips. You'd be tempted.

I like my beer and the one and only time it crossed my mind to be unfaithful I was very full of drink. The thought lasted about ten seconds and then I felt guilty as hell. In fact I felt guilty for a couple days afterwards even though I did nothing. I just couldn't bear to hurt her the truth be known.
