i just try and share any uselful things i see on the site :)
That menu decoder is really handy! cant avoid eating out forever. Sometimes they use such fancy language hard to know whats reasonably healthy.

Can someone check in book for me, how pp in TINNED DRAINED SWEETCORN, the ww site says its 0pp :S but fresh or frozen sweet corn is 1pp per 50g

Lady Lainy, it says in the purple book that canned sweetcorn - 2tbsp (60Grams) is 2 pp.

Keep up the good work you are a breath of fresh air and keep me in touch with the real world.:D

yeah that sounds about right to me, I usually use the frozen stuff anyway, but we're all out so used tinned stuff in the muffins... i pointed same as frozen stuff :)

Sounds odd but they are devine! Cheese, Tomato + Sweetcorn muffins!

    Morning all!

Haven't been on all weekend as was very busy. Had my niece to stay on Saturday night, then the in-laws for dinner yesterday, plus packing up our house because we are moving! Had a good weekend foodwise. I feel like I've got my WW mojo back :D Managed to forget half of my lunch today though :( but have no money with me at work so will have to make do with what I have with me :)

    Morning folks!

I'm maybe fat....but I'm not a failure....going to keep trying....as long as I'm trying I'm not failing! More determined than ever to succeed! My aunt and family are SO superficial...the only thing they see is a fat girl...they think that cos i'm over weight I'm a failure in life!

I maybe over weight...but I am NOT a failure! I am so sick of being invisible...ironic...the biggest member of the family is invisible!

Lainy, of all the people who post on boards, your endless enthuasiam, hints, tips and encouragement are what keeps a lot of us going. Negative people are not worth bothering with. YOU ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT A FAILURE!

The sun is shinning, always helps on a Monday morning! I'm sitting having my coffee with a bunch of frozen grapes, yummm. I freeze my grapes and they taste lovely also they take a little longer to eat as you sort of nibble them.

    Hi Everyone,

I have been with weight Watchers for the last 3 months. I have done great so far with a total lost of 1st 2lb. However over the last 4 weeks I have been up and down every week.

I came home from my meeting last night and cried. I have a total of 7 stone to loose and weeks like this make me feel like I am never going to get there.

I have PCOS which gives me very irregular periods. So I haven't gotten one in over two months. Can this affect my weight lost like this?

This thread as been a god send to me so far so I am hoping someone can help me out.

    Thanks

Hi nickiewh, I haven't been on this in a while so I only read your post now but I wanted to reply to you anyway.

I also have PCOS and I do find that while it can make it a bit more difficult to lose the weight it by no means makes it impossible. I lost 5stone about 2 years ago. It took me just over a year to do it, with lots of ups and downs but I did it. I wasn't getting a period at all at that time so not getting it regularly doesn't necessarily mean you can't lose a bit every week.

I stopped going to the weigh ins then and ended up putting back up a stone which I have just about lost again. I'm determined to stick with it this time until I reach my goal (another 2 stone).

I just wanted to say don't lose heart just because it's more difficult with PCOS. And losing the weight really does make the symptoms of PCOS a bit better so that will make it worth it in the long run. :)

Really looking forward to getting away....just hope my brother looks after all the dogs....the older dogs can look after them selves....its the puppy im worried about! I'm doing the whale watching down in union hall, as its that neck of the woods, so hope my camera is sorted b next week! the whale watching is pricey enough...but if its good it'll be best money i spent all summer :D

July is turning into BUSY expensive month :O gotta take one of the dogs to the vet tonight, hope its only minor thing...its getting embaressing at this stage having to go into credit union so much :O

Also gotta sort out my college place....they screwed up my application! So gotta go in and sort it out! That has me totally on edge...cos if its not sorted...the past two years will have been for nothing!

And the crap my aunt said to me....still f*cking bugging me....its actually keeping me up at night! didnt even go to bed saturday night...ended up going on treadmill at 5am and that didnt even make me sleep...thats how much what her drunking rambling effected me. I was going to wash her dog today...tidy him him...cos she butchered the poor dogs coat with a horse clippers...even the I LIVE RIGHT NEXT DOOR! But, HA! Not doing HER any favours!

Decided to do my college placement next year with my aunt....show her just "how little" I really know! HA!

Need you opinions... am really struggling with ww... finding it difficult... I have lost 9 pounds since Feb... going about 22 weeks... and have been up and down since... am thinking of giving up... as I seem to be a disaster with it...I think it's a good plan but just can't get back into the swing of it... :(

should also mention, I've a good bit too lose...

I find if i try to do too much in one week....change EVERYTHING I eat, try ALL NEW recipes, LOADS Of exercise....it gets too much....

this week....just make a single change.....
then next week....add a little bit of excercise,
then next week....add another food change.....

Its the only way I'm able to drag my self back.....cos it can be over whelming and exhausting trying to do it all at once...all new foods....all new eating habits...all new recipes...crash & burn!

this week....just try ONE Thing...weather its a new recipe, a new food, a new exercise, or one thing....can be NOT having it....like i've given up my morning coffee this week...instead of having to with breakfast....i now have it mid morning...as a kinda elevenes (thats if i get up before 11.....my sleeping as gone to hell)

and if you have a bad day....well so be it....its a bad day...not a bad week...

If you weren't doing WW then how would you tackle the weight loss? Would you just go it alone with healthy eating and exercise?

If you think about it thats what this is. For me it's a structure thats in place with a weekly weigh in so I can see my progress and I'm answerable for my actions. Plus I have the added bonus of a support system, here and in my meetings etc. If it hasn't been working for you is it because your not giving it 100% (just asking assuming nothing :)) Some people can find the counting and the plan hard to get to grips with but then will you carry on as you are with what you know and without tracking? If it was me I know I would slip into my old ways and bad habits and then I'd be back at square one.

Hope that helps somewhat, try not get too frustrated by it.....

Thanks MaggieMay... yes I would probably put all the weight back on and more... need to just get a grip! A week can be so long in ww, keeping a track of things... thanks:)

Hi Molly1, the way I see it there are 7 days in a week, we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, that's 21 meals in a week, allowing for 2 snacks per day, that's 14 snacks per week, right? So provided you do your best and stick to the p.p. plan for most of those meals, then if you have a slip up 2,3,even4 times in your week you should still do ok. The trick as I see it, is not to beat yourself up over a few slip ups, coz you would be in way more trouble if all of those meals were made up of the sort of choices that got us here in the first place!!! For what it's worth...

You do more than I do & I have lost 33lbs since the start of the year with only 4 more to go to get to goal, but I am very strict with my food.

    Hi All,

I tried the new Muller Light Dessert Yogurts last night. Not 100% sure of the correct name of them, but they come in three flavours, Choc & Orange, Choc & vanilla, choc & black cherry. Had a black cherry one last night - OMG, was delish and a massive tub - 165g and only 2pp :D Can't wait to have one tonight for my supper :D

Managed to remember all of my lunch today - yay!

    Morning all, looking for some help/inspiration here, I am starting to get a bit bored with my dinners as I'm eating pretty much the same things every week. Was hoping some new ideas might keep me interested. I dont eat fish or much red meat so at the moment my repetoir include;
    Chicken Stir-Fry
    Quorn Chilli
    Quorn Spag Bol
    Chicken Curry
    Asparagus and Pea Risotto
    Chicken with roast veggie cous-cous.

Just wondering if anyone can give me some new ideas. I normally like to use 10-15 points on dinner during the week.

How about trying turkey or duck as a change to the chicken? Also loads of recipes out there foir chicken which wouldn't be overloaded with propoints, a nice one in this month's WW mag for Southern baked chicken with potatoe wedges - 12 pp per portion or seared chicken with mint yogurt dressing and couscous - 9 pp per portion. I can post up the recipes later if you like.

Savy, do you mean cheap in propoints or cheap in money?
I think 5 or 6 points is very low for one's dinner or do you have a large meal at lunchtime?

    Moroccan Chicken Kebab and Couscous

These quantities are based on 2 adults
Olive oil (extra virgin) 1½ x tbsp
Parsley (fresh) 2 x tbsp, coarsely chopped
    Garlic 1 x clove, crushed
    Paprika (ground) ½ x tsp
    Cumin (ground) 1 x tsp
Lime 1 x lime, juiced and zested
Chicken breast (skinless and boneless) 280 grams, cut into chunks
Chicken stock (reduced salt) 150 millilitres(stock / bouillon cube crumbled into boiling water)
    Boiling water 150 millilitres
    Wholewheat couscous 100 grams
Onion 1 x onion, cut into wedges and then flaked
Courgette 1 x courgette, sliced and quartered
Aubergine ½ x small aubergine, sliced and quartered
    Soya beans (frozen) 50 grams
    Harissa paste ½ x tbsp

    1. Preheat the barbecue or grill to medium-high. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 tbsp of oil with the parsley, garlic, paprika, cumin, lime juice and zest. Then add the chicken, coat well and leave to marinade for 15 mins.
    2. Thread the marinated chicken onto a skewer. Then grill for 10 mins, or until cooked, turning halfway.
    3. Meanwhile, pour the stock and boiling water over the couscous. Leave to soak under a silver foil cover for 10 mins. Then fluff up with a fork.
    4. While the chicken and couscous cook, heat the remaining oil in a wok and add the onion, courgette, aubergine and soya beans. Stir fry for 2 mins, or until the vegetables begin to soften. Then add the harissa paste and stir fry for another 2 mins.
    5. Serve the Moroccan chicken kebab with a side of the couscous and the harissa vegetables.

    (4) Hold off on the harissa for the Little Ones.

Hi all, back from London since Sunday night. Dreading my WI later this evening. After loosing 5lbs last week I will be gutted if I put up more than 2lbs this week. Tried my best to choose wisely in restaurants but messed up a couple of times. Forgot to ask for dressing on the side etc..... We did so much walking during the weekend Im hoping that will counteract my bad choices:). Thanks for the soup receipes will try them this week.
