    Morning all,
Is anyone else having trouble getting onto the WW online website today? I can log in but can't get into plan manager, it just has a page re changing from points to propoints.

    Morning All,

WI last night and was down 1.5lbs :D:D:D Only 1lb away from goal now! And can go on my hols on Sunday feeling like I worked really hard last week! :D

My leader was talking about men and what we can learn from them last night and she gave the example of herself & her husband doing the shopping. She saw a 6 pack of snowballs on sale for 1euro and was like "oh there only a euro", her husband said "you don't need them", she agreed and they moved on, only they came back to them and she picked them up again and said "if they have nutritional info on them, I'll get them so my members know how many pp they are". Again her hubby said "No, you don't need them & they can find that themselves", so she left them. But then when she got to the checkout, she said "oops, forgot something", ran back and got them! Her point was that her husband was focused on not having them, whereas she was found it easy to give into the temptation! I know not all men are like this but she was just saying from her POV. I thought it was good because she was giving an example of how she, even as a WW leader, still struggles to be "good" :)

Eimhear is a fantastic leader. The way she comes across on the programme has to be the result of editing. She wrote on the cdwmi facebook page that she was not allowed to mention weightwatchers on the programme, that's why she called herself a lecturer in nutrition and health.
She is not an anti-fat zealot, she's as human as the rest of us. At meetings she sometimes mentions having her 'bad' days, just like the rest of us have.
She is always giving us fantastic recipes for all sorts of meals and snacks, another leader said Eimhear is called upon often by HQ to give cookery demos to other leaders.
The queue at the meeting I go to is always out the door, with every chair at the talk taken and people standing at the back.
She's very motivational and never judges!

Completely agree - she was the best leader I ever had - but I think she has come across terribly on the show - what a pity. She sent everyone the recipies from what she made too. So trying the tiramasu!!

so its the start of a new week for me and after STS yesterday I am determined to stay on the wagon this week......food for the week planned and workouts stuck to treadmill C25K week 4 here I come

    Hi All!
Thanks for all the advice over my sts disappointment. Flamelily i know exactly how you feel!
Laney - i'm soooo not sure i'm ready to completely give up on chinese. I will have to reduce it though last weekend was an exception!

So looking forward to this week and trying to plan plan plan. I'm doing classes this eve and all weekend (and for the next few months)so trying to figure out what to do with lunches cos not sure what times etc its at yet. I've fruit salads ready to go and yogurts in fridge just hoping they be ok in my car, as there is no fridges etc like work.
Also, going straight from there to Take that. This is worrying me food wise as I doubt there would be good choices at the gig!

Any tips or advice would be greatly welcome! I'm nervous food wise and i haven't even started the weekend.

    Hi All,

Firstly congrats on all the losses :D Came back from my Holiday's on Sunday and decided to face up to my WI on Monday even though I knew I hadn't stuck to the plan for a week!

Turned out I was only up 0.5lbs  I couldn't believe it, I put it down to all the dancing every night :P

Had a great week sun was amazing shame to have to come back to rain but I suppose that's the Irish summer should be used to it by now.

Went straight back to counting points on Tuesday so hopefully should see a loss at my next wi ;)

    same thing happeneing to me.!

Just looked at calender i'll def be up this week...I dont get TOTM with jab...buta every 3 months when its time to renew the jab i'm up...and boy i'm up!

Kinda stressed too....alot to do next week....must get the implanon thing put in....owch! Driving theory test! And other money issue stuff all on the same day! Thank god its next month exam results coming out...i could not handle any more things this week!

I'm going for a long very hot shower to try and wake my self up, then hopefully i'll be in the mood for treadmill. and maybe that'll help this bloated feeling.

I'm just wondering maybe the cous cous didnt quite agree with me....been kinda feeling like this since i had it....pity...it was so nice and filling but think the wheat didnt sit well with me...same way bread doesnt quite do me any favours

Hmmm quick question.....I made a batch of the bran muffins to bring in with me for elevenses, thanks a mill for the recipe girls! But are they meant to be that spongy squishy. They don't seem to have the same consistency as regular even low fat muffins. Is that because of the bran or cos I'm using a silicone baking tray, I can't get them out until they cool down?? Thks :)

they do firm up when cold....

What fruit do you make them with? the juice from the fruit makes them nice and juicey and moist. I made them few nights ago with tinned pears...Delish! Going to make another batch after my shower. they were so juicy and squishy :D

i make mine with two papper liners in silicone tray...helps them to rise :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 288 ✭✭MaggieMay2

Ahhhhh paper liners ;) Gotcha! Might do that, thanks LadyLainy. I used apple, diced them up which was quite nice as they turn all squishy after baking! I'll just try again, as if I need another excuse to make more. Yep cous cous can make you very bloated. Did you eat alot of it? Drinking lots of water should help....

i'd never had it before...didnt realise how filling it was....did eat more than i should have...i did point it tho...and was within my dailies....about 80g dried...it didnt look like that much on the plate...but about half an hour later....i was feeling almost painfully stuffed...yeah i'm drinking loads of water anyway...but going to step it up even more so...like this is how i feel if i've had too much bread...sluggish...mopey...energy zapped out of me...

ah yeah.....that prob explains the squishy. the pair one were really quishy too...simular fruit family :D

    Shower.....Bran Muffins.....water....and hopefully treadmill...

Any luck getting into the site yet?

In the meantime, does anyone know how many propoints are in a slice of white pan/regular white bread?

depends on the loaf really, its 2pp per slice for the regular slice pan like Brennans but the Irish Pride Toast one is 3pp per slice cause its thicker (and therefore heavier) hope that helps

I use my calculator to point bread now when I buy a different brand from normal and weigh the slice :) just to be sure

Just on the bread front, a girl in my class last night was asking about Spelt Bread. I'd never heard of it before, but it's supposed to be lighter than the normal bread. But my leader said to beware, because spelt products have higher pp values. One slice of Spelt Bread was around 4pp she said  I thought that was nuts - for a slice of bread!

  • Registered Users Posts: 283 ✭✭Kay_80

Great loss shoelover well done the no banana thing seems to have worked alongside all of your activity & good food choices well done!

Can't believe that about spelt bread it is quite dense though one of my friends who is german easily has 4 slices per day that's 16pp omg!:eek:

This rain Is dreadful but I'm counting down the minutes till I can leave the office going to throw on my rain gear & go for my walk anyway I feel spurred on having gotten the encouragement from Ciara (my practice nurse) yesterday evening I have a yummy dinner of salmon fillet, brown rice & roasted veg planned with a glass of red wine planned! Can't wait & all within my dailies :)

Ps has anyone any nice salmon recipes which are fairly ok pp wise I love salmon but am either having it dry fried, or done with terriaki type sauce or just steamed, I wouldn't mind jazzing it up a bit though! Any ideas?! :)

    Carribean Salmon

    2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 limes, finely zested, then halved
1 tbsp jerk seasoning (Schwartz have it. 1 pro point for 2 tablespoons)
2cm (1in) piece fresh ginger, finely grated
4 salmon fillets, with skin on

Green beans and Brown Rice to go with (I use some of the lime juice in this as well)
baby sweetcorn, chopped cherry tomatoes and coriander (optional but gives a really nice flavour)

Just rub the seasoning into salmon place in bowl add ginger garlic and lime zest. I always use the lime juice as well to save on the oil and so its not too dry. You can either bake or fry. Thats the recipe for 4 but adjust for 1 or 2.... Low in pro points but FULL of flavour. One of my favourites!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah finally feeling normal again.....i prob did eat too much cous cous....didnt realise it was so dense...it looked so tiny on the plate.

Going to try 50g cous cous tonight, chichen breast and salad

dinner 10ppp lowest dinner i've ever had!

New week tomorrow :D I'm going to mimic my trackers from last week! This week was kinda all over the place.....

If you have the WW calculator or even the wheel you can calculate the points yourself.

To be honest I find it hard to operate the wheel, is anyone else the same?
Keep meaning to buy the calculator...
Not to worry just thought someone might have pointed them......

Well personally I think calling yourself a health and nutrition lecturer when you're a WW leader is a BIIIGGG stretch. Fair enough she may not have been allowed to mention WW, but there's other things she could have called herself but it's funny how it's been advertised as her being a WW leader and also how Dave Lamb mentions it at every second breath? Yes editing is involved, and I'm not saying she's not a good leader but lets get real here, someone whether they're doing WW or not going on about fats, and calories all the time is really annoying and you end up coming across as a food nazi, she did herself no favors going on the show, or for ppl on WW or WW as a whole and really and truly if ppl want to defend her I say head on over to the reality TV forum that's what it's there for don't let our thread come into the defend Eimhear thread I thank you!

Well I suppose that's where those criticising Eimhear here should have shared their thoughts so, let's not make this come into the criticise Eimhear thread either.

Anyway good luck with the weightloss everyone, I've really enjoyed reading and benefited from all the tips and advice here.

    Right!

There are just some times in life where people are stressed! And there are some times in life where that stress will cause a temporary weight gain...We gotta deal with the area of stress...stress is bad! Then get back on track!

Sorry just kinda had to put that out there in black and white....or on here...black and light shade of blue/grey.

Its just one of those weeks! this driving theory test has be frazzled...but the actual terrified fear....has kinda turned into......nerves and anticipation...the more i actually study...and yes i'm actually STUDYING for the theory and driving/lesson....the more confident i'm getting...knowledge is power?

So i got stress gain....and hormonal injection gain....i only imagine freaking implant is going to do to me next week....but i hate the freaking pill...forget it once an ur screwed. I've been on the jab for 3 years so doc says gotta switch...

I'm drinking buckets of water but not peeing half as much as i should....so i must be retaining...(mums bacon...prob loads of salt)

Practice makes perfect. I was sorry I didn't study the theory test when I failed the first one (34/40). Studied, studied, studied and got 39/40 the second time round.

I would definitely recommend the implanon bar. While it doesn't agree with everyone, if it does, it is brilliant. And if it doesnt agree, you can get it taken out straight away and you go back to normal almost immediately. Your periods would be all over the place for the first 6-9 months but you get used to it and having peace of mind for 3 years is brill. Just got my second one put in a few months ago. It says a side effect, like all hormonal contraceptives, is weight gain. But you are on the right track now and the only way you would gain weight is by eating more, it doesnt just magically put pounds on you. I was around 15 and a half stone when I got my first one put in. 3 years later I was 18 stone 3lb but I wouldnt put one pound of that down to the implanon because I was just a very very unhealthy eater, crisps, chocolate, frozen pizza, chips, takeaways, full fat fizzy drinks etc etc and lots of it. When deciding contraception, I wanted to get the injection but my doctor wouldnt give it to me because she said it is such a HIGH level of hormones and it can give you depression and cause serious weight gain and she recommended the bar as it releases the hormone slowly and steadily.

    ______________________________________

Was feeling very good today. Fruit salad for breakfast and tuna salad for lunch. But then in the afternoon, had huge argument with my mum, and then another with the OH and it put me in a foul mood and never got out for my walk and ended up having a sambo for dinner. Having a few drinks now but going to remain on track food wise and try and get some exercise in when I get back from my Dads. I agree with you lainy on the stress thing, I think that has been the root of my 2 month arseing around with WW. I have been unbelievably stressed the last couple of months and still am, so I think I need to get over it and realise that I am going to have stressful situations and will just have to work through them otherwise I will be back to square one.

thanks for the information. I wonder once i stop the injection will that make my weight loss a lil easier....its based on the same hormone as the injection...but must be different amounts. so it should in theory agree with me.

You never know. I know my friend who used to be a size 8, shot to a size 12-14 after about a year taking the injection. The injection is a 4 month dose of hormone in case people don't renew their injection on time, hence why it is such a high level of hormone entering your body.

    Hi All,
I'm down from 12' 10 to 12' 5 this week so am delighted.
I am very bad for eating later in the evening, so I found that if I try to get most of my points used up before 6pm and then I tend not to overdo it in the evenings. It's making a huge difference to how I feel even in the morning as I guess I'm not storing the fat throughout the night.

Senmum I HATE the wheel, its like torture!!! I chucked it on day two and got a calculator.....waaaayyy easier and you look less like a weirdo in the supermarket pointing things in the trolly!!!! I got the app for my phone which is even more handy as it has a calculator and a portion yokie as well

I hear you on the stress thing Lainy.....when I get stressed I am all over the place food wise.....its what has me heading for the vending machine in work or the biscuit tin at home :( the cure in work is NOT TO BRING CHANGE!!!! no change = no choccies ;) at home I now head for the treadmill when I am stressed and walk it out.....so far its working :P

I was on the injection for a few years but had to come off cause the doc was saying long term use not good......had the implanon thing as well.....dead handy and while I did gain weight I can't blame the implant cause I was eating all around me :o before it went in!!! hate the pill.....have tried several and they just don't agree with me so I am back to the doc to see what else I can get!!!!

oh good luck with the theory thing Lainy.....I never studied the first time and failed.....passed the second one after actually reading the book

can't remember who mentioned the napolina pizza bases......but thank you, got the pack of 4 small ones today, pointed at 6pp per little base, loaded it with passata, onion, peppers, mushrooms and pinapple (I know I am weird) topped with 20g grated cheese, a yummy dinner at 8pp  chuffed with myself as I did my next C25k workout as well, was wrecked after but really pushed myself today after the STS thing yesterday, increased my speed and distance and feel brilliant now......hope that keeps me from straying over the weekend.

sorry sort of rabbiting on there......have a fabby evening all

    Hi everyone!

I return, still the same weight as I was at the end of january more or less.... completely fell off the wagon in terms of dieting but thankfully haven't put on too much weight.

My loss so far has been 7 stone 6lbs.... only have about 1.5 stone left to lose to get to "goal".... feels like I'll never get there to be honest!

Can't get my stupid dense head around ProPoints at all...... I was so into the older system that I am finding ProPoints highly confusing and annoying. Any tips to make it easier? I was gonna stick to the old points system but quickly realised that it's fairly pointless as they'd be talking about ProPoints at the meetings and I wouldn't have a clue. I need a ProPoints boot camp or something :|

Hope ye are all still losers!

Wow your loss is amazing well done :D It does take a while to get used to the propoints but after a few weeks its fine. If you haven't got one already then get yourself a points calculator. they are invaluable. really easy to use too. that will help alot :) you have done brilliantly so far :D

So WI this morning & I'm down 3/4's of a pound, really happy with that if I count from my WI of last Friday it's actually 1.5lbs :D because I weighed in last sat morn too & I was down 1/2lb from the day before so I'm saying 3/4's of a pound loss each week :D really happy it's going in the right direction BUT being self critical I have to stop with the pre WI of ooh id love to be down 2 or 3 lbs cos it ain't happening & I end up being dissappointed when it's not 3lbs LOL! But it all adds up & as I say it's going in the right direction!

I'm going to have an easy day today lots of cleaning & cooking for the freezer then kick back on the sofa with a book & lots of tea. I did my grocery shopping last nightso I'm gonna stay in pjs until I go out for my walk later!

I'm off to Belfast on Thurs till Sunday really looking forward to it we're going to see some gigs & catch up with friends so I'll miss my nxt WI but I'll have a sneak look before I go & when I get back to gauge it! I was really disciplined when booking the room it's my fav hotel up there & the breakfasts are to die for its a buffet & my word the amount of sweet treats, cakes & yummy breads they have to choose from as well as the cooked breakie, fruit etc you could make a total pig of yourself I didn't want to give into temptation so I booked without breakfast (30 euro cheaper) there's no way I could sit there while everyone else was gorging themselves & me with just fruit salad - my weakness is their home made granola! So we're going to go to my fav little cafe for breakfast each day where I can order just scrambled eggs & toms, some fruit salad & coffee & the other half his fry yogurt & coffee all for the same price but none of the all you can eat granola, muffins, coffee cake ( love coffee cake!) Just staring at you begging to be eaten just cos it's 'free € wise'

We're going to a chilli festival thing as well on saturday it's got a hog roast, burritos, tex Mex food & lots & lots of diff types of chilli I'll use my weeklies there & then be stuffed to the gills for fleet foxes, villagers & the low anthem! I'm seeing Laura marling the night before & I intend hitting the shops thurs & Friday to get some smaller sized basics & crucially new underwear I need to get a waaaay smaller back size in bras I just can't make do with my existing ones anymore there is no support when the back is too lose! Not going to go mad though I'm a 14 now but hope to get to 12 or dare I say a 10?!! :D

Enjoy the weekend ladies & gents :)

I refuse to be rude to people because of my personal eating choices! I'd rather have one bad week on the scales....than make a friend who did something nice feel like sh*t

so whats the nicest low fat ceaser dressing out there?

been using the hellmans one this week....but it is kinda HIGH! So going to try and wean my self onto a low fat version.

The tiger thai is great! really good on points...but want to have a few nice dressings to switch between...so i dont get fed up...

Tried the cous cous again, mush smaller portion...wow im full...but not uncomfortable

50g cous cous + 1 pack Aldi ham cubes and huge dinner plate of salad...8pp for lunch and im nicely full

I've also had my2 litres of water :) and going to up treadmill from 30 mins to 40 mins :D

Ot sure on lowfat ceaser dressing to buy but I know there is arecipe for one here

    http://www.tv3.ie/article.php?article_id=59896&locID=1.65.652&pagename=

It was the one the WW leader did on come dine with me. You could make & store in the fridge for a few days I'm sure. It's not pointed though.

I know you are just getting into salads ( & fair play to you for that! :) ) but for me the nicest salad dressing is a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, some balsamic vinegar & salt & pepper. I don't make the dressing in a bowl I tend to just add all to the salad & toss with my hands that way I don't make too much dressing best bit of this is the balsamic is zero pp & you only need a small amount of EVOO maybe a teaspoon depending on size of salad I also add lots of fresh torn basil & usually I have lots of tomato in there & it all marries together lovely. I love sour things so like lots of vinegar!

cant stand overly oily dressings...my mum uses the balsamic olive oil combo.
Like today what i did was 20g of the thai tiger dressing for 1pp, (weighed it out) and a drizzel of ceaser just for that hint of indulgence. granted my drizzels are prob a bit generous...but baby steps :P But i'm getting there...getting healthier by the day....like today was the lowest pp lunch i've ever had....and its prob the most "satisfied" i've ever been after lunch :D

*right back to the theory test practice...i'm up to 34/40*

I don't like overly oily either I just can't eat it bleuggh! Most recipes tend to be 2/3rds oil to 1/3 sour ( say lemon juice or balsamic, White wine vinegar etc) especially Jamie olivers I tend to do the other way around! For example yesterday's lunch was probably 3 tablespoons of balsamic to a teaspoon of EVOO & lots of black pepper I sometimes just use balsamic! Like I said I love sour things! It goes back to my childhood me & my cousin once drank a whole bottle of malt vinegar between us he got sick I wanted more! :P I know a total weirdo!!

i have a few questions to people who have signed up to weightwatchers.co.uk
when it asks for billing address did you just put your normal address and select a county and put a postcode for a hotel in that county?
has anyone had any problems cancelling their subscription after the initinal 3 months?
im planning on using paypal to pay has anyone in ireland had any issues with it?
i used to go to classes but work is crazy busy over the summer and im never sure what time im home at so ive given up on the classes although im sticking to the programme but finding it hard without a tracker but im weighing in on my wii every week so wondering if the tracker on line is any good?

also for anyone interested i was looking at how easy it was to cancel the subscription and when you go to contact us and cancellations and press the stay with weight watchers button you'll be able to download a free cookbook

im sure thats what i did put in normal address...then put in english county with a post code from that county. I find the service great so havent had any reason to cancel it. :) online tracker is GREAT! takes out all the guess work and panic...and the recipe builder so handy! you can point any recipe you find...and tweak it here and there until it suits your pro points budget.

Thanks Lainy. the recipe builder seems great and reading about how motivated you been doing it online has made me want to try it. i lost 3 stone from january to the end of april in the classes but ive been up and down since then with exams and the baby being sick and my sisters hen weekend and starting a new job. lucky for me ive got a friend in work who is doing ww aswell and we're doing well so i wanna keep this motivation but its hard without a tracker

im going to try making the ceaser salad dressing from tv 3 tonight and have it for lunch tomorrow anyone pointed it yet? 100g extra light mayo juice of half a lemon clove of garlic 75ml water and fresh ground peper?

omg 3 stone????? thats amazing! I need YOU to fecking inspire and motivate me!

I was so good last week...then this week just gone...blaaaaah! (as you read inthe other thread....theory test looming) so the the munchies have been showing there ugly heads! But I'm using my tracker from the good week as a guide for the week coming.

yeah that does sound like a nice dressing. the Aldi Bramwells Extra light mayo is WAAAY nicer than hellmans! i might just add a few herbs and maybe spoon ful of Lidl Linessa cream cheese to it...just to cream it up....i prob only making it with 50g mayo...cos dont want ti sitting in the fridge.

also noticed last week i just couldnt be bothered really blogging my trackers...but i did during my good week...the blog easier to read back on than the tracker :P cos i have the times and snacks tracked too...breaking up the day.

So back to tracker 100%, Blogging and....i did 45 mins on treadmill...was aiming for 40.....thought i'd only get 30 in cos i was in no mood really for it...but stuck it out for the 45...maybe this will be my "one good day" that leads to the rest of the week....

Tuesday will be a nightmare tho! so better have some dinners in the freezer!

only thing pointable in that dressing is the mayo, which at 100g is 2pp :)

took me a while to get them right. i was nearly demented first few times i made them.

I was mixed the batter too much first few times i made them. and i was constantly checking on them...opening the door...

But after a while i started leaving them be...not opening the door once...and to leave the oven go cool before taking them out. just lightly fold the batter, you should still see lil pockets of dry flour.

and make sure any fruit you use is finely chopped or mushed up :) tip i got from my mum after a few failed attempts

ive lost 3 but ive 6 left to go so not getting too caught up in it!!! it was all down to your blueberry bran muffins as id have them when everyone else was going for a coffee!!!

I know the stress of the theory test is horrible but during my exam study id write my tracker in the morning and bring in the food to college with me and refuse to eat anything apart from what i planed so maybe try that? i lost loads in the first few weeks but during the actual exams i started eating breakfast rolls before the exams to keep me going and put all the weight id lost during the study back on

not to go off topic but i thought id never get the hang of driving and now it feels like the car is just an extention of my arms and legs... i suppose its the same with ww i feel ill never lose this 9stone but ive 3 down and only 6 to go and i just keep looking at the things ive succeded in (like my exams) and tell myself if i can do that i can lose the weight.

thanks for the tip on the aldi mayo must try that

its easier on good weeks and good days to write in our trackers!! i had a bad week last week and i couldnt even bring myself to look at this tread (i still have pages 105-112 to read) but this week im promising myself that im gonna be good for me because i deserve it

lainy your so good with the excercise and amazing at recepies and pointing things most of my weight loss since january has been down to you and the others on this tread (love skinnydolls blog... have the sweet treats and drinks pages saved as bookmarks in my phone so i have no excuse)

im now offically a member of ww online uk and just found out that beacsue ive lost weight since ive stopped going to classes ive actually been allowing myself (and eating) 2 extra pp per day, nearly died when i saw my pp allowence

anyway everyone keep up the good work. we can do it;)
