Human traffic/ This Life....showing my age now.
I thought it was a great series opener. If the rest of the series is anywhere near as good then I shall gladly be giving up a few hours of my life to watch the dead :)

Hostile atmosphere, horrible mutated freaks (even though the wife of the guy who was hiding in the house looked quite human in contrast to the others), and a creepy soundtrack, what's not to love?

I knew I recognised the main character from somewhere. Shocked to discover it was Love Actually.

    Looking forward to next Monday.

Is this about the downfall of The Green Party?

The episodes are repeated on Saturday nights about 11.00pm.

I was turned offf by the fact that the start is a rip off of 28 days later (waking up in the hospital).

a good concept is a good concept, rip-offs only bother me when they dont work, i thought it worked well here, and id say 28 days later wasnt the first to think if waking up to a zombie apocalypse, or maybe it was the first time it was done wth zombies, at least the zombies arent running:D

You do know that that was ripped off from Day of the Triffids, right? Right.

I agree, that was pretty lame. Actually the entire first episode is not all that great, but if you persist it does get a lot better. Never fantastic, but good!
The effects are top notch for a zombie show and that's where most of the money was spent. The acting is average but overall it's a decent watch.

I tried to watch it but found it to be ridiculously stupid.

The Book series on which it is based came WELL before 28 Days Later.

The Walking Dead is based on a comic book series of the same name. The comic books were published before 28 Days Later was released. You would be more correct saying that 28 Days Later ripped of The Walking Dead. In any case, as Earthhorse points out, the similarity is coincidental and both really independently ripped off Day of the Triffids.

The Book series on which it is based came WELL before 28 Days Later.

28 days later came out in 2002 didnt it? and the first walking dead comic was released in 2003 ? so 28 days later did come out first, but walking dead #1 would have been started a long time before 2003 when it was published, so it's still just a coincidence.

I have to fix my initial post to make it clearer.

You could even argue about when the idea was written down blah de blah. I'd put it all down to coincidence.

    1st episode: excellent.

2nd through 6th episodes: a fairly rapid decline in quality, still just about watchable I suppose.

    Once they reached
the CDC in Atlanta it got totally daft
    - will certainly give season 2 a shot but overall this was a disappointment.

Overall the biggest disappointment of any series this year - I hope there's a suitable category for this in the TV Awards!

I've only seen the first episode but I quite enjoyed it. It's nice to see Andrew Lincoln in a "grown up" role.

Obviously you can't really compare them but does the show stay at all true to the comic or are they completely different?

I was looking forward to this but after seeing the first episode I thought every scene was a cliché. Seemed to be going through the motions, ticking the zombie boxes off as it progressed. I take on board what people are saying about 28 days later being made after the comic but really, I just wanted to stick on the 28 days dvd 10 minutes into the first episode of this.

Still, I'll give the series a go, it's not unwatchable, just nothing new so far. If nothing else it's an intro to hardy bucks and sons of Anarchy afterwards. :pac:

Episodes 1-3 I enjoyed even loved but it took a heroes level of dive in quality after that. I'll give season two a go.

I seem to recall Kirkman joking about having the hospital idea telepathically stolen by 28 Days Later on the letters page in the comic book.
