They could show Nurofen Plus ads. :D

All advertising of codeine-containing medicines, which include Solpadine and Nurofen Plus, is prohibited.

A bit like Breaking Bad I suppose.

pretty much yeah, no-one is showing BB its not just an RTE thing, a lot of people find it very very odd

Its not really odd, BB may be great but its still not nearly as popular as TWD , TWD receives somewhere around 8 million viewers weekly while BB gets about 1 million or so. So theres your answer that why rte show TWD but not BB, unfair on such a great show!:p

thats american audiences, also as i said its not an RTE thing, not one of the sky channels show BB,

for a show thats never aired in any form past season 1 here its extremely popular,

and those 8 million viewers tied in with BB finnishing this season should mean an epic third season of TWD, should get a nice cash injection for more sets which should help keep them moving around a lot more,

You obviously have an internet connection so just watch it of the internet.
Google TVLinks, everything is there in better quality than you'd get on RTE2 anyway.

Season 2 is a bit of a slow burner and drags a little in the middle but it totally redeems itself by the end.

Not everyone has a decent connection.

O2 wireless broadband has a 15gig monthly limit.
Just curious how many hours tv could you watch with that?

Ah yeah, I forgot about the download limit some people have.
A good quality one hour show is about 150mb, so about 100 hours of tv shows per month.

I hope by better quality you mean more up to date and no ad breaks because with file sizes of 150mb your dealing with far inferior resolution and sound quality.

In general I would always recommend downloading and streaming shows but when it comes to shows that are due on you available tv channels, I would recommend waiting and enjoying the shows on a week to week basis. Theres something special about watching the ads all week long, sitting down with family/friends and following a show and talking about what happened all the next day at school/work/the dole office.

I have a hard drive full of shows but still like the feeling of waiting for Shameless US on a friday night and waiting on the upcoming series of The Walking Dead.

I should have said 40mins, I forgot that the ads were removed and that removed a good 20mins of a one hour show so. But other than that, the video and sound quality matches that of RTE (not RTE HD).

I also like the waiting the week, it makes things more interesting and I always have something to look forward to. Thats why I follow the American schedule and not the RTE one that is almost a year behind the american one.

Granted your still following them on a week to week basis and have friends and boardsies following the shows at the same pace but I still don't think it matches up to watching them on TV and thats coming from someone who downloads more than I watch on TV. RTE to there credit are well capable of building up anticipation through the week between episodes like they did with Homeland, its just a shame they don't keep more up to speed. They did it in the past with a few series of Prison Break but don't look like doing again it anytime soon.

I wouldn't agree that sound and video match up to rte, alot of compression takes place, in particular sound files are compressed alot, you might argue its not very noticeable but there is a difference.

Out of interest, do you always stream as opposed to download, I like downloading, then can share with friends or re-watch.

I usually stream, if I'm going away somewhere I'll make sure to download a full season in advance (if its already available), but my connection is quite slow so I usually just stream, wait 5mins or so for a video to get a head start with the buffering and then start watching.

Probably another year since it hasn't finished airing in the US yet.

Wouldn't be that long a wait, if they're running season 2 again would imagine they'll show 3 not long after...probably late Summer/Autumn

Maybe, but its been it was around a year after S1, and S2 finished when they aired it on RTE. Perhaps they'll buy the license sooner realising how popular it is now.
