Yeah, it got stupid... I got so close... I scored over once... 23.32, BUT only fired 3 shots! So disqualified! Utterly gutted lol, could have missed completely if id had time to get the fourth off, and got through, very annoying. That game is a real bastard that far up the ladder >>

Level 12 13 complete thus far; with the recruit, marksman, perfection, trifecta, and lucky 7s badges.

Score was 950/60-something before I closed the browser (and didn't realise I could add myself inside the top 100; would have been 87 :( )

    952.71, ranked 87 (Lem)

Got to 12 and got bored. I'm officially more steady and accurate with an actual Steyr on an actual range. That guy has some serious breathing issues. I've come to the conclusion that he's laying on an airbag which is being inflated and deflated at the whimsy of the rangemaster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

That's true... it was like trying to shoot via an asthmatic nervous person.... No real gun moves that much with breath... I found the amount of drift and short ranges rediculous, and the 7 second ones, at stupid range, where one wasted a few seconds FINDING the darn targets worse lol.

Especially not a bullpup. I've had some rather protracted reticule shift on a .308 after I managed to wind myself getting out of the jeep, but it still wasn't that bad. I think I could fire that Steyr from a steadier position after a 5k from a standing position.

It's not bad for a flash game though.

mhm, Doing falling plates after advance to contact was always fun, but It never really winded me enough to be that far off.... it depended on position too, if you locked your arms down, it was pretty steady, plus the sa80 weighs a small ton, which helps keep it steadier.

tbh, growing up Asthmatic (of course I didnt tell THEM that) helped me learn to control my breathing... I could force my heart rate and breathing down to normal after exersise. A paticularly useful trait.

Oh the winding didn't happen when I was doing advance to contact, it happened when I was on the farm and jumped out the back of a jeep as the driver walked out in front of me with the 4ft prybar I caught to the stomach. Took me a couple of minutes to get my breath back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Either thats one heck of a training technique, or you're a dozy bastard :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

The latter. It was 8am and I'd been up since 5 or so. We had an hour to kill so we pootled off up the fields to a "home-made" range for some target shooting. Muggins here dozed off in the back on the way, woke up with the jeep stopped and assumed we'd arrived. Blearily jumped out the tailgate at the wrong second and found the business end of a steel bar making sudden but strong contact with my midriff.

Five minutes, some recaptured breath and a large bruise later, I was grand.

Some American friends linked me to a bunch of episodes of this show a few months back, but the links were all US-only, and I couldn't find a reliable link to watch it at the time. I'd forgotten about it until I was in the states a few weeks back and it came on the tv.
Sitting in the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago during Paddy's week as an Irishman, you'd think there'd be more interesting things to be doing than watching tv.

Also, I've already planned an updated Thompson myself. It's been on the drawing board ever since someone on here said it as a joke. I just need to find a suitable Thompson donor. While I'm totally willing to do the project, I'm in no way willing to spend €250 on a brand new Thompson to pull apart for the sake of a joke.
I did that before with that AK74, and the amount of treatment that gun received ended up well in excess of the cost. (Most of you have seen it, but if you haven't, it's been silver plated)

Oh, and here's an example of why I sometimes dance during skirmishes.

See how confused that guy is? Works every time. Distract the enemy, then attack.

And silly ideas. Their craftsmanship is good, their products are ridiculous. They had an episode dedicated to making a masterkey for an M16, and acted like it was their own invention, and another where they made a small multiple rocket launcher and kept referring to it as a Katyusha (which was ambitious in the extreme).

I'm pretty sure I could make a far better looking upgrade of the Thompson than they did though. That looked appalling.

Thanks for the offer man, but I don't mind paying for one. My only qualms is paying full price for a brand new one that I'm going to have to end up pulling apart anyway. If I can spot a knackered one in adverts for a few quid, I'll grab it and start the project. It'd just seem like a terrible waste to rip apart something that someone else might use properly.

It was partly done as a joke, partly because someone said it couldn't be done and partly to annoy the AK purists.

The stripping was done using a plastic-media blaster, then wet-grit sandblasting and finished with glass-peening/shot blasting. After that was all done, it headed for electroplating.
It's handy having access to these ridiculous things in work.
