I was half joking coz its only 30 seconds but it doesn't sound great, bit weird, not much point making a judgement on 30 seconds

Sounds a bit like My Propeller.

I liked the sound of what i heared so far, it certainly won't win them the fans back who loved the sound of the first two albums. But this a lot more poppier and should win them over more fans.

I think I'll need to listen to it a few more times so it can grow on me. But it wasn't bad! :)

I agree that I'd need a few more listens but it was so repetitive, just the same riff over and over. Usually they like to mix it up a bit, not there

Just listened to "Don't Sit Down" there... Not really sure what to think of it. It's okay I suppose, but I just can't help thinking that if Arctic Monkeys had brought out tunes of these two singles' standard on their first album they'd still be in obscurity today, and that makes me sad :(

I'm afraid that both Angles and Suck It and See will both be big disappointments this year =/

    Agree with this.

On the plus side, Bread and Circuses is deadly :P

Think its much better than brick by brick but its still not up to the Arctic Monkeys standard. Its just the same riff repeated, lyrics are poor. I'm hoping they have some classics on Suck it and See.

Loving it, the riff, the lyrics ("Find a well known hard man and start a fight, wear your shell suit on bonfire night"), the tempo, bass, everything.

Proper rock tune, what i heard so far from the new album has for me giving me hope that the guys won't be backtracking.

Loving that new track, sounds great. I hate knowing the album is finished somewhere and we can't get our hands on it for another two months. Ah well..

Hopefully this album is even better than Humbug which I thought was their best album yet

true humbug is going to be a hard one to beat for me as well.

have to say there showing great maturity in there music and style these days

There's a good interview with them in NME this week where they openly refer to the "Mardy Bum fans" who just want to hear choons and they joke about Humbug's reception from some corners. You have to respect the guys cause they know exactly what they're doing and don't care if they lose Oasis fans who want the same album everytime. Brick By Brick was a bit of a scare to be honest but this is a far more solid song.

I agree it's good that they don't sit in a comfort zone, but as heavier sounding stuff goes I think the likes of "What if you were right first time" is better than what they're making now, and that was only a b-side to a FWN single.

FWN is my favourite album ever though, so I would be hard to please comparing stuff to that.

I can see where you're coming from but although the difference between the first two albums is pretty big, they had those FWN songs ready to go while still touring the first album so they have that same fast paced intensity. They moved on after that album and hence Humbug was a complete change. They probably discovered dozens of new influences in that space of time that has made them want to make this type of music.
