Anyone heard 'Library Pictures'? Stonking, full-blooded rocker in the vein of 'Pretty Visitors'. Thrilling!

I listened to poor quality live versions of 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala' and 'That's Where You're Wrong'. I'm not going to listen to any more until the album comes out.

    Proper version of Reckless Serenade

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,950 ✭✭✭Pinturicchio

I'm not going to listen to that, but is it a studio version? How come it's out?

Yeah it's a studio version.Don't know how it came out, maybe its getting released and it was just leaked.

The leaking of 'Reckless Serenade' is a bit odd, isn't it? Loving its indie-pop jangliness, regardless. Sounds somewhat like a reimagining of 'There She Goes' by the Las.

The boys are gonna be on Jools tomorrow night, apparently 'Reckless...' is among the four tunes they've played, along with 'Brick By Brick' and 'Don't Sit Down...'. I'm unsure of what the last tune is, very eager to find out though.

Have had the live version of 'Hellcat' on repeat since I first heard it. Brilliant track, can really see it becoming a festival anthem this summer.

What do people make of the lyrics so far? 'Brick By Brick' aside, it seems as though Turner is continuing on the tangent he first explored with the Favourite Worst Nightmare B-Sides and subsequently honed on Humbug and its B-Sides also. I think the sometimes convoluted, hyperbolic wordings he seems to be employing detract somewhat from tunes like 'Piledriver Waltz'. It kinda seems as though he's conscious that he's writing lyrics and maybe trying to pander to his public image as an accomplished wordsmith. While he's no doubt using some extremely impressive turns of phrase and metaphors, dense wordiness can sometimes have a detrimental effect on his melodic phrasing.

I think it was released to show fans who might not have got Humbug and didn't like the rocking songs released already from the new album that this album is going to be a bit more commercial so they released a softer more indie type song. Its a great song it has a touch of Velvet undergrounds softer side and i agree it does have that La's there she goes vibe to it as well.

Anyone else think the bass is a bit of a rip off of Lithium

Jamie Cook has gone from looking like a junkie on the last album to some kind of 1940's World War II British pilot.

From what I have heard of the songs from the album there is a bit more melody to them than the last outing.

Jamie has alright. Is he still going out with the page three model?
What has the original bassist done since he left?

I must say I'm liking his new style, very dapper indeed :D:D

He joined Reverend and The Makers last year. They're releasing a new album later this year.

He also founded Mongrel which featured Jon McClure, Matt Helders, Drew McConnell and Lowkey, amongst others. They released an album called Better Than Heavy in 2009. There were snarky comments about AM printed on the vinyl version of the album.

Josh Homme's sound has rubbed off on them. They should try and mix Alex's influences on the next. Have some acoustic stuff like on Submarine ' Meeting place (one of my favourite songs of the last ten years) and despair in the departure lounge. Look forward to the album.

really looking forward to this album. brick by brick my favourite. any plans for a tour later in the year does anyone know?

Saw them on jools Friday night and between the 3 songs they played and then Brick by Brick which has been around a while I've heard 4 tracks and I'm pretty impressed. Hoping too that they do there own show and not just a slot at oxegen. Saw them in the O2 on the last tour and really enjoyed it, saying that I loved Humbug which for some reason I can't fathom some people didnt like. i had heard that they wanted to alienate some of the more "pop" fans they had but it was hardly nashville skyline they put out!

They're touring North America now until June. Then they have two dates in Sheffield. Then a European tour in June-July (including Oxegen). Then Asia. Then back to the US. Then they're doing more European festivals in August-September.

After that there will probably be a UK tour including the O2 in Dublin. The UK tour isn't confirmed yet though. They'll probably end up playing here around the same time of year as they did last time (November).

The guitar on "All My Own Stunts" is mega.
