Jason, I got in touch and the retail team said they'd look it up for me. The guy did mention that CPW might have me go and collect a code from the nearest store or something but never got back to me on the final verdict.

Edit: OK, got a reference number in a voicemail. Thanks UPC team.

    Hi Jason
I switched to upc (ordered on 5th jan, installed the 8th) and got my voucher today. I had picked a woodies voucher but got a DID one! I know for sure I didn't pick DID as I dont have any need for it atm. How do I change this?

Also, as above i ordered fibre freedom starter on the 5th. At that time the package fibre freedom sport wasn't listed. However, under the fibre freedom on that date ESPN was included (it isn't now). I don't have ESPN, but surely if i ordered on that date I should have it?

    Thanks

    Hi Gottalovegreys

Glad you got your voucher sorted so soon. Fibre Freedom starter does not nor did it ever have ESPN built in, that is built into the Fibre Freedom Sport and Ultimate bundles.

If you want to switch to one of those bundles that is no problem, and apologies for the DID voucher, we can arrange for a woodies one if you send that one back to us in the post. Please call 1890 940635 and my guys will look after you straight away.

    Regards

    Jason

Pretty pi**ed off by UPC/DID. I signed up for UPC, phone, TV and bb middle of last year. Had loads of hassel getting the DID voucher but it finally arrived. This was for the 250 euro offer Went to DID tonight to spend it as they are having a sale and guess what they would not honor the voucher said that the voucher was issued but never paid for. Made out that it was somewhat dodgy and that it "may have been used previously". Had to leave new TV etc behind until this is sorted out. Expecting a call from DID tomorrow. Hopefully with some good news.

    Hi Jason,

I'm seriously considering changing to UPC - I'm currently with smart for phone and broadband who as you probably know do not resell eircom's wholesale product. I presume this won't interfere with porting my telephone number (I had to change numbers when I moved from eircom to them)?

Also we no longer have any cable points in the house but UPC recabled the estate approximately 1 year ago and I think their cable is running under the eaves. I won't be getting TV from you and would therefore like my modem/rputer in a bedroom as this spot seems to give the best wifi coverage. Would there be an extra charge for installing a new point?

Will there be any broadband/telephone down time during the change over period?

    Thanks

    Hi digitaldr

No problem porting over from smart. We install our phone, and you then fill in the porting form, very straight forward, we manage it for you once you send us the form filled in. No downtime as when we install your phone it will be on our network and will have a temproary number until the port completes and your broadband will be also active straight away.

If there is a UPC box on your eaves, we will not charge you to cable inside.

Please feel free to order via boards, and you will get free activation and a €50 voucher to spend www.upc.ie/boardsoffer

You can of course nominate to have the tv point in a bedroom and have your wifi router installed there.

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Jason

    Jason,

I currently have the following UPC products which are costing me €75.74

    Go Digital Max Pack
    Digital Video Recording
    10Mb Broadband Express

I would like to add a phone & I tried to get the Fibre Freedom Ultimate package for €75.00 but I have been told by a UPC rep that I cannot get this package as I am not a new customer. They did offer me the phone for and extra €13+ but I cannot afford this.

I argued that as I wanted to add the phone I would technically become a new customer but she disagreed.

Other than terminating my current service and getting my wife to sign up as a new customer is there any way I can avail of this package?

I can send you me account details if required

just wondering will it ever be in dundalk..... would change over in a flash if it did instead of paying eircom for broadband and phone .....i have tv with upc so be great to just pay one bill out

    Hi franko2010

We are progressively working our way up the east coast at the moment from Dublin into Meath and beyond. We have recently launched all services in Balbriggan, Trim, and are over as far as Navan and continnue to add towns as we progress our upgrade. Hopefully it won't be too long for Dundalk.

I cannot see a launch date in the system currently for broadband and phone, however as you have mentioned, digital tv is available in Dundalk currently, and if anybody wants a cost effective alternative to SKY in Dundalk (120+ channels including Setanta Ireland and ESPN) for just €30 per month with free activation and a €50 voucher via boards, then just order via here: www.upc.ie/boardsoffer (Best bit is, if you switch to us now we will also give you SKY Sports & Movies free for 2 months also!) - Bargain.

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Hi Jason,
thanks for your help, someone called me Saturday evening, but because I am an existing customer I could not get the package I wanted ( its for new customers only)
so I will have to stay as I am.

I'm with Redskins.... I cannot get the package I want even though it would mean an extra 5 euro per month for UPC - Insane policies.

Instead, they want me to give them 9 euro for the package I want.
Makes no sense for me to do it the way they want so I am going to downgrade now instead of upgrade. Yes it will cost me a tenner, but Ill save 7 per month by changing.

Why do existing customers get screwed over?

    Hi Jason,

I have just signed up to UPC Broadband and TV, my equipment is arriving tomorrow, is it too late to avail of the boards offer? Also how do I get free Sky Sports and Movies for two months? Thanks

    Hi Barlett

Sorry, to qualify for this offer you must have ordered via the boards link. (see terms & conditions) Once it is ordered elsewhere it is too late, apologies. If you want the SKY Sports & movies offer, you will need to call our call centre who originally loaded the order on 1890 940624

    Hi Alan_Madden

Sorry you feel that way. UPC have just speeded up our broadband and are constantly investing in our network, and are in the unique position where we can provide Digital TV, 20mb broadband, phone and calls for less than the average SKY payment for TV on its own - not just for new customers - for all our customers.

If you wanted to upgrade your package to one of our new tweaked bundles I can help you with that, please PM me your account number. You will not however qualify for a boards offer voucher if you are upgrading (Please see terms & conditions)

    Regards

    Hi Jason,
I completely understand the improvements and increase in Broadband, and it's great to get those improvement. However, the marketing guys send you emails and texts pre-Christmas saying "upgrade in Broadband to 10MB" yipee super news etc etc, then in the new year they slap on an extra 5 euro to the monthly charge....while new customers get 20MB. Correlation is obvious but not made clear to people what's happening, for marketing and strategy reasons. . . . I TOTALLY GET THAT....Just frustrating.

I rang yesterday and asked for the upgrade to FIBER FREEDOM SPORT (purely because I was now paying €65 instead of €60, and with upgrade to FFS I would be paying only €70 - It wasn't for the voucher, as I only signed up in Nov & already availed of the offer) and I thought it was crazy of the lady on the phone to turn down the my upgrade offer. She wanted 74, which I didn't want to do. Household budget WAS 60 - I convinced herself to go to 70 considering it was now €65..but with €74 and she was breaking my balls

Appreciate the FB Jason, will PM you details and grateful if you can help out.

PS. I propose that when you access UPC, you should have either an EXISTING CUSTOMER or NOT A CUSTOMER YET? option prior to accessing the site. That way, people like me who log in to check bills etc won't be depressed seeing the new customer offers, unless of course I choose to, but that's a personal decision....So in essence, U would split the website into EXISTING Customers with option to login etc, and new customers to view all of the deals etc.... Just a thought for your technical web team.

    Hi Alan_Madden

To address the points you made.

All 8mb broadband customers pre Christmas were upgraded to 10mb on January 4th 2011 for FREE.

Please let me be clear, there was no extra €5 charge added to your bill for your 8mb (10mb) broadband as you have stated, although there is much comment here on boards reflecting that. That is not true. If you have been advised that by somebody in UPC I apologise, you have been misinformed. If you want this confirmed by our billing team, please call 1908, who would be happy to help. You can also have a look on "My UPC" on our website (your account).

    2010 v 2011 Broadband prices:
    2010 - 8mb Broadband €25 v 2011 10mb Broadband €25) - Speed Increased up to 10mb free of charge
    2010 - 15mb Broadband €32 v 2011 20mb Broadband €34) - Speed Increased up to 20mb €2 more
    2010 - 30mb Broadband €42 v 2011 30mb Broadband €42) - Remains unchanged
    2010 - 100mb Broadband €80 v 2011 100mb Broadband €80) - Remains unchanged

Lastly, you refer to the website not asking if you are an existing UPC customer. It does, please have a look www.upc.ie/boardsoffer
    (Already a UPC customer?*)

Different multiplay bundles since Jan 4th. PM me if you want to talk to one of my reps about moving onto one of them if any suit your current requirements, I am the retail sales manager in UPC and am responsible for this boards offer also, with a specific team.

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Jason

    Hi Jason,
I am a new triple play subscriber and am quite happy with the service so far (and customer service has been outstanding) . My question is about the equipment. I read somewhere that there was an option for a higher end modem that the Cisco 2425 and also another option for the HD+ box. I was never offered that and can't find any info on the site.

The main reason for the interest is that the modem/router does not support 802.11n - but I can use it bridged mode and add a new router. However, that disables the phone line - so a bit stuck here with a couple of devices that only do 802.11n and can't connect them to the network. Another problem is that the modem does not support multicasting (if my home media server is connected through wires the streaming client can't be connected through wireless).

Any info you could find for alternative modems (and HD+ box) or a way around those limitations would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Zynks

Thanks for your nice feedback. Things are going incredibly well with UPC, subscriber numbers are growing exponentially, people like our products, our HD TV, really fast broadband and combined tv/bb/phone services saving money - and despite what you may hear or read on discussion forums, our customer service has improved massively over the last 2 years.

On the technical stuff...Totally out of my depth, not that technical I am afraid, I will check your technical question for you tomorrow and will get somebody to call you if you send me a PM with your details.

I can tell you that the Thompson router is for our 100mb customers only. We supply the Cisco for our 20mb+ customers free of charge.

HD box - not available in every home yet, however it is available in the vast majority of all our cabled homes. It may not have been available at your home when you ordered - please call my team on 1890 940635 and they will let you know if it is available now.

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Jason

    Thanks.
