    ......these just arrived

Chilblains ever year, so I've sent for these for added protection:- http://www.breezeblockers.com/buy/aeroguard.php

    Now, I hope they help.

Bit a weed, occasionally along time ago:):)

Armadillos on one bike - if they are going to call this tyre after an animal they should be called Eels they're that slippery - but offer excellent puncture resistance - I've never had a flat on them but they're noticeably heavier.

Ambrosios on the other bike - fast, grippy but very soft. These have been changed for the Contis. The last puncture I dug a stone out of the tyre to find a piece of glass embedded beneath that. Lovely tyre, but useless for commuting on - probably more suited to racing.

The Contis look like they're aimed at fast commuting (therefore not suitable for me) and touring / distance rather than all out speed. I don't mind a little bit more weight on the rim if it means fewer punctures. I'll slap 'em on tomorrow and see how we go.

Can anyone recommend a cheap pair of waterproof gloves from Chainreaction? I had a look on there last night but the choice is bewildering, ideally they should be dark in colour.

    Define cheap?

I've BBB Aquashields and they've proven to be both waterproof and toasty. Although the last couple of mornings have tested them severely.

Well up to €25 if that's possible. I just want something for the moment and then once we buy the house I'll have more cash to get something better.

Agree - i've been using my new ones the last couple of days and i'm very happy them. Just to note that Wheelworx have these cheaper than CRC, but that would only be helpful if you live close enough to them.

+1 on the BBB Aquashield. Cosy and not too sweaty. Amazon are a good bit cheaper than CRC but don't always have all sizes in stock.

You can never have enough cover socks or lights.

1 Blackburn Flea 4 USB Twin Pack - Pair F&R
    1 SIDI Socks - Cover Shoes - Large/X-Large - Black
    1 SockGuy Cordura Cover Socks - L/XL - Black
1 BBB Aquashield Winter Glove BWG08 - Medium - Black
    1 Weldtite Citrus Degreaser - 1 Litre

You can thank me when spring is brought forward by my purchase of winter gloves.

1 Cube litening super that I've yet to pick up and one Phillip's 21:9 TV that's yet to be delivered, both have hit the card and it's not pretty.

I need some gear for cycling on these cold winter days any advice on what to get and where?

Spesh Expert road shoes with Speedplay cleats fitted. Really comfy (though blindingly white) shoes, but those cleats will make the duck waddle even worse .
