I was on the look out for a bike computer, particularly one that would log/display the data on a PC later, I was seriously considering the Garmin 500, but I 'happened' on a good deal on bike24.com, its this one , a Ciclosport HAC 4000 Ltd edition white, except I also got the cadence sensor & docking station, all for €114, ah sure the CC just had to be flexed :D Also: it ony took 4 working days for it to be delivered :)

Thought I'd get away with being out on the road til Christmas at least, but the sleet last night broke my spirit. Dark and cold I can just about manage, but sleet and ice on top :( No way I'm up for another 3 months of that ****e! Just a pity it won't be here for the snowy weekend.

And there I was.. pressing the buy now button for new rollers and pedals.. and got a credit card was rejected. Called to AIB and found out that some douche was playing poker with my card in the weekend.. they have no clue how, my pc security is quite strict.. anyway all good, the charge has been denied and I will be waiting my new card on Thursday. It sucks though that I am losing the CRC 10%

Except nowhere near as cool. I somehow can't picture those guys as the product of some super-cyclist experiment.

    Maybe a super-Fred experiment.

Can we rename this thread to, "I should never have remembered my credit card details"?

I just ordered €80 worth of utterly pointless (read: necessary maintenance) stuff for the MTB. :/

Or how about the "I should have left the credit card BTW Scheme at home alone" thread ?

Just had the payments submitted for this plus a couple of other bits.

You have the excellent excuse of telling passers-by that "it was the ice!" to save your blushes, something that doesn't work in summertime when your chain pops off and you hit the deck going uphill.

    Recent purchases (which arrived):

    Lame looking spoke lights
Got them for winter to try to be more visible from the side. They'd only look cooler if some cornflakes reflectors were on neighbouring spokes.

    Cheap brake pads from PBK
Got these when they were being offered at £1.50 or so, they're even cheaper now.

    And...

    Brand X Pannier Bags
Got these in the post this week. Not as good as the other panniers I have but cheap as chips.

Saw someone riding through Rathmines with them on Monday night. They stick out a mile, which I suppose is what you want in a light.

The link says something like $4.17 for two of them. Delivery is free with dealextreme, but it takes several weeks for it to arrive.

I ordered them months ago. They went out of stock and I forgot all about the order. They arrived the other day. I have since bought a different (and pricier) pannier - I wonder what herself would think if I gave them to her for Christmas.

I've managed to steer pretty clear of this thread so far, but I guess it's time to start sharing some of my extravagances, so here's my first plunge to beat the UK VAT increase on 1 January:
