We should know by now the media in this country is a disgrace.

Sky News are reliable enough even for an Irish perspective.

Been violence all day long, nobody seems to know, the statue of Churchill has been smashed,

The treasury is being taken over right now and windows completely smashed

    THEY ARE INSIDE NOW....:eek::D:D

15 arrests, 10 police hospitalised from the figures so far....

    As opposed to non-violent riots?

  • Registered Users Posts: 695 ✭✭✭TheSpecialOne

Would be proud of those students not the ones who are causing violence but the thousands who have protested peacefully on many occasions now....it is clear the Lib Dems are dead meat come next election.

I wonder why the British don't use plastic baton rounds on their own when they riot?.

Yeah, I don't know why but only Sky News are showing it...

I suspect it will all be news tomorrow, but I've been watching the violence on the tele from about 3 today, amazed I didnt find a thread either, lets face it better than nothing

    9 Arrests so far

10 injured police, 3 seriously, one with neck injuries

Seen one policeman trampled by his own horse

And one peaceful guy, punched to the floor, then batoned in the back of the head by a thug riot squad guy, knocked him unconscious. He woke up ten minutes later on the road....

I don't think batons fire rounds. They're hittin' sticks.

    How do you know?

He says roughly the same thing in every thread regarding any kind of protest against anything, as far as I've witnessed. Not a clue.

I don't think batons fire rounds. They're hittin' sticks.
The bullet was developed by the British as the 'plastic baton round' (PBR) with a projectile that could be fired directly at targets while also reducing the risk of serious injury or death.[1] It was intended to replace the older rubber bullet: training doctrine was to fire these rounds below waist level, to reduce the risk of lethal injury. Rubber bullets would ricochet uncontrollably from the ground, if fired too low. The intention of the plastic bullet was to produce a projectile of similar effect on its target, with less risk of ricochet than rubber.[citation needed]
From 1973 to 1981, over 42,000 plastic bullets were fired in Northern Ireland. Fourteen people were killed by plastic bullet impacts, including nine children.

    Thats from a quick google.

Cause it wastes lots of tax payers money in damages and gives the public service loads of overtime. Ironic that the Hannah Montana generation of getting everything handed to them goes on riot because now they have to pay their way and work. Must be such a shock to their system.

I can form an opinion from the TV coverage.

Unkept looking rioters just looking for trouble with an obvious hard core of hire ins.

The English taxpayer must be very angry to see such leeches wasting hard earned money just for the thrill of.

Obviously orchestrated by a nest of lefty hardcore whose only aim is to disrupt society and gain some satisfaction for themselves.

Contributing nothing, expecting everything, all at the taxpayers expense.

Doesn't fool the Brits it seems.

Think you're a bit out touch with reality if you think Hannah Montana generation are on the streets today...

Hannah montana is only fairly recent programme....:confused:

Anyway fair play, least they have the backbone to do something. Not like us spineless lot in this country, like yourself.

It's sad that a minority of people ruin these protests. I feel so **** for my mates back home, facing 9K in tutition :(

Although, seemingly the ones causing the riots were yobs with balaclavas and other scarves hiding their face and one guy had a large iron rod lobbing it at the police, it makes me so sad to see those things :( those twats probably weren't even students.

Do you mean income tax? Or all kinds of tax? I wish I could get away without paying tax.
