I tried this app out today & it's fantastic! Not at all jittery or bothersome. I watched 2.5 hours of tv via it as our sky decided to go down today. Couldn't rate it highly enough.

Also it's excellent as a remote control app. I usually use air mouse when I have my pc connected to the tv but this is much much better. You can edit documents, watch megavideo, rte player...everything. Highly recommended.

does it only do windows????

Looks that way. Shame; looks like a really good app. I downloaded the Google app there, it's almost like another browser minus a few key features e.g. bookmarks. Nice though. I'll post my thoughts on some of the apps I've downloaded when I've had more time to play with them.

I know this is completely off subject, but is anybody else finding that their iPad battery is not lasting as long as when it was first bought, I know the battery degradation is to be expected after a while, but I bought the iPad in august and already I think I notice a change

Does anybody else experience this or am I imagining things?

Yup I find the same thing. I used to charge it once every two days, now it's every night. I don't know if some apps eat more power than others or if something is running in the background or what it is though.

I'm still getting around 10 hours usage per charge. I've used my iPad nearly everyday since purchase back in may.

I'd still get the 10 hours unless I'm streaming video or something intensive like that. Still very happy with the battery life, charging it once a week or so and using it daily.

I even find that even when using offline apps like pages etc., the battery life is getting less and less per charge, would this have anything to do with some settings etc that use more battery?

I haven't experienced it with Pages, but some apps will of course be heavier on the battery than others. Certain games and video apps, for example. I've been playing a lot of SimCity on my iPad lately and it eats through the battery in no time. But for regular stuff like browsing, I'd say I get pretty close to 10 hours still. I charge at least once a day, but that's more a reflection of how much much use my iPad gets.

Not exactly an iPad app, but I've just gotten Tversity Pro and couldn't be happier with it. Videos play smoothly now (unlike air video) from my POS media server :o

Have you changed anything in the settings? Something obvious like increasing the brightness will have a huge effect on the battery life, as well as more energy intensive apps.

There is a free app called Pad Info which reports basic internal data about your iPad. I find it very handy for showing estimates of battery life and disk usage.

I love this app, monitors my vodafone usage (updated receipe to add support for data allowances), Rss feeds, local usage for 3G ipads, dropbox and loads more stuff. This is a native iPad app not a universal one. Well worth the €2.39 I spent. I am trying to see if I can get the author to add support for the Vodafone Mi-Fi as well

Apologies if this is off topic, but has anybody else had trouble with VLC freezing ?

I tried it out over the weekend, and anything I try to watch freezes after a few minutes viewing. I turned off the wifi and got about 15 minutes before it froze again.

Edit: Did a search on the www and it appears that this is a problem with the newer versionn of VLC, and their dev team are looking into the problem.
Now all I have to do is try to find the older version..

    /edit

Enter FilmOn which hopes to change how we watch broadcast television on the iPad. By visiting http://filmon.com via Mobile Safari on your iPhone or iPad, you can watch live television from select broadcast stations

Do you mean that this is a US-centric service?

Wow filmON is amazing. I don't have any VPN switched on and I'm getting around 20 channels in excellent quality. All the BBC channels are there,a few itvs ,five and several others.

Does anyone know how long it's free for? If you click the little box in the top right it opens a page about subscriptions.

FilmOn doesn't seem to like 4.2 on the iPad. Won't work at all. Okay on iPhone but only a few stations.

In the few mins I spent looking it up I noticed people say that 4.2 was not supported yet. Looks like it really is free! It won't work on my iPod but works excellently on the iPad 3.2.2! :)

It's the subject of an upcoming court case in the US :http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE69510K20101006
    God I hope he wins!

This has to be the best find for ipad yet. Thank you OP.

Has anyone found the "swipe for fullscreen" doesn't work ?

It had me confused as I couldnt get it to work either, but if you do a pinch out with finger and thumb it goes to fullscreen.

Speaking of finger adn thumb, those adult channels are a bit racey!

Yep, just worked that out with a pal's. Thought maybe it was UK nets, but it's 4.2. Same with France24 and BFMTV.

There's a final beta of 4.2 out IIRC.

Think 4.2 should be officially released to the public in the next day or two: http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/04/ios-4-2-release-date-update-for-iphone-ipod-touch/

No you're right. It isn't released to the general public yet but some people are already using the beta version. It's only available to those with developers licences.

You don't need a dev license for the 4.2 betas or GM for the iPad.
