Soundhound - Not free but far better than Shazam
    X-Plane - Great flying game
    Penultimate - Simple note-taking app
SketchBook Pro - Better than any other drawing app - very deep with unlimited brush options

Have had mine a while too (got it launch weekend in US). Glad to see more apps coming available. Would still like to see more of the Ireland/UK publications launch versions. Love Time & Wired's apps.

Flipboard looks good, and is now live with Facebook & Twitter content!

Anyone know when actual chart content will come onto the iBooks store, rather than just the Guttenberg stuff?

Teamviewer is not too bad for remote access to your Mac/PC, just trying it out now

How did you get the iPlayer app? Is that the BBC iPlayer? I've looked in iTunes and I can't seem to find it. I have a UK account and I couldn't find it there either.

There's no official app. Just go to the website and then when on the iplayer page save it to your home screen.

Sorry, of course the iPlayer is not full app, i have it on my media page with ABC and Hulu+ but its just a link back to their iPad compatible site.

Also i am using PureVPN with USA and UK connections set up and working like a charm.

    My apps include
    Pages
    Numbers
    Keynote
    Racer HD
    HD Snooker
    HD Scrabble
    Airplane HD (lander game)

You need to sign up for a VPN for the UK which when you switch it on, will give you a UK IP address. There's loads of codes posted for BlackVPN on here which will give you 3 months sub for €5. It's usually €5 a month.

Anybody having a problem using both a US and a Uk account with BlackVpn?

My Us account works no problem but the Uk account won't logon at all. Just disconnects straight away.

Their support has been no help

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I like the bit on the website that says why you should use BlackVpn and then lists my IP adress and tells me I'm in Longford for some reason.

I certainly would hate for people to think I lived in Longford.

Actually, I can now. Can't remember if it was the iPad or one of my Macs I tried earlier but it came up and said my isp was blocked and it named the servers Blackvpn use.
Funny that. But I'm happy I posted now. Cheers mate.

Don't seem to be able to set it to first broadcasts outside the US so only useful for downloaders. Shame, could have been good.

Yeah.. it'll pick up British / Irish productions without a problem for their first airing on British / Irish TV (e.g picked up 'The IT Crowd' and 'Sherlock' correctly).

But anything US-produced is using it's next airing in the States - maybe that'll be fixed in a future revision but I wouldn't say it's likely.

You need to download them in the US App Store - sign up for a US account with a new e-mail address / ID by clicking a free app in the US store (this way, you won't require a US credit card).

Plants Vs Zombies, which is just great fun and as addictive as all hell!

Fieldrunners which is a classic tower defence game and tough but very enjoyable.

Frict, a simple and yet frustratingly hard iPhone ap which works great on the iPad

Catan, iPhone app and it shows but its still a great conversion of the boardgame

BBC News, very much part of my daily routine now. Just a fantastic app.

Google Maps,..... WOOoooooooooooooooooooo, I can spin the world!! Ok, not hugely useful but terrific fun from time to time :)

Lock and Roll.... brain bending dice and strategy game. Kills minutes one at a time!

    DeV.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,365 ✭✭✭ongarite

Plants Vs Zombies isn't worth the money IMO. It's far too pricey for the experience you get with the game. It's the easiest tower defence I have ever played, I breezed through the whole adventure, story mode with no trouble at all. So little strategy is needed even on the later levels.

    Also recommend Splinter Cell: Conviction
