Carcasonne is a fantastic boardgame and the app is beautifully done. Theres even a new single player mode!

I hate to be an uber-shill, but Daft's iPad app is pretty cool. There. I feel dirty now. :):)

    DeV.

Its good but buggy as hell - any more than 3 apps and one will definitely crash within seconds

    Hi,
Just got my Ipad which I’m happy with. I want set up a VPN to watch American and UK TV.
I was looking at StrongVPN for $55 (45€) per year. Has anyone use this VPN.
Also can you recommend other VPN and sites/apps I should be looking at for TV.

Also,I tried to place an advert on adverts.ie with my ipad but I was unable to upload a photo. Is this an ipad problem or the website. Is there another way to upload photos to this site.

    Thanks in advance

BlackVPN has been used by me and others here without issue. It's €5 per VPN per month or €10 per month for the full set.

I went for purevpn. It's seems to do the job.
Can anyone tell me how to download the ABC app. I can't sign up for an account cause it looks for a credit card. There is no option for 'none' payment.

    Any ideas.

Oplayer HD plays the avi files that CineX won't. It's great. There's a free and paid version. The only difference is that the lite version has an advertising banner up top of the screen while you file is playing.

Firstly this is not an app but I thought it was still appropriate here.

For anyone not yet jail broken but who would like to listen to the radio while browsing, you can browse and listen to radio stations that stream live content in certain formats online. All you need to do is let the radio stream in one safari tab and browse in another.

    Example:

    Today Fm Stream here

    Newstalk Stream here

if you go to http://www.mikesradioworld.com and look for the country of your choice you'll find a list of online radio stations. Stations marked with an orange squiggle will stream in safari. In Ireland there is only i102-104 and Phantom on this list.Still it's better than nothing.

    ZumoCast is free today ONLY.
Its a home sharing streaming program for iPad/iPhone that will stream music and video in any format and transcode it for listening/viewing on your iPad.
You can also download the music, transcoded video to your iPad for offline viewing later.

Ha. Never knew that. Turns out my own radio station works too.

    Near 90 fm

Will have to add us to Mikesradioworld.com

Also, anyone tried the Epic Citadel App? It's free and just shows off the Unreal Engine. It's very pretty and probably the most accurate simulator of what it's like to wander drunkenly around a medieval town you'll ever play.

Anyone here used Cloud Browser on iPad?

It's supposed to allow you use java and flash including allow you stream video so it's an access all areas web browser for iPad/iPhone.

You have to pay a monthly fee to use it outside the US but it's free in the US.

Anyone who has a VPN care to try and report back on whether it lives up to the hype?

Just downloaded it. Horrible browser, incredibly slow and jerky. Tried Hulu with my VPN and it wouldn't work as I was anonymous. Hulu works fine on my Mac with the same VPN. CBS and ABC both worked to a point. The video and audio played but it was very jerky, both in picture and sound, totally unwatchable.

I didn't tried Java but flash works to a point video wise ar least. It just feels like the browser is way too big and heavy for the iPad. Slow, jerky, unresponsive and that's before attempting to watch video content.

This is all based on 10 minutes use at most. There was an option at the start to sign up and become a premium member but I didn't bother.

    Will uninstall sharpish.

Adox thanks a million for that review. I've actually considered getting a VPN just so I could use Cloud but I won't bother now. I should've known it'd be too good to be true.:)
That really helped , much appreciated!:)

Got "Battle for Wesnoth" the other day, cannot put it down at all. Excellent RPG/Turn based combat.

Appears it is free for different OS as well.

Oh I got The Incident yesterday.

It's great... frustratingly maddening, but still great.

Hopefully it will play a better range of .avi files now, rather than a random few. Still though, a nice app.

I've been playing this as well. Really good game. But I think it's better on the iPhone. The iPad is too big.

Luckily the one version runs on both.

Way too many games insist on you purchasing them again for the iPad version.

Anyone using zumocast? Am very impressed so far. It's playing everything I can throw at it including lossless audio, .avi and .mov.

So far the updated version has played all the avi files for me the old version couldn't. It's no longer free though, it costs €2.99 now.

There's also a VLC app that should be coming out soon... as long as apple gives it the green light.

One more reason to get zumocast now -it's playing everything that even The updated CineXplayer won't.

Files take an age to download over wifi with zumocast and it doesn't support drag-and-drop in iTunes. I'll continue to use Cinexplayer for the time being when I don't want to stream and Air Video/zumocast when I do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,992 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

CineXplayer has refused to play every file Ive tried. :(
Surprised everyone else finds it so successful.

I presume it's nothing I'm doing wrong as Oplayer will play every single file that I've tried.

Been using the Plex app since it was released and am very happy with it. One thing I only found out tonight is the 4OD plugin works on the iPad. I didn't expect it to but it does.
