@steve_b: nice work. I have those cages too, they're great. Been meaning to get some carbon cages for my race bike but not convinced they'd be better.

What Spesh saddle were you using? I'll probably be buying a Toupe soon.

i can't see any advantages a carbon cage would have over these tbh. these hold the bottle firmly in place and theres no fear of cracking it in a fall. even the likes of the carbon tacx tao weighs more (29g vs 22g).

i had an alias saddle - i think the toupe is a lot lighter, and it looks more comfortable!

i actually prefer the look of the Ti ones....

i would tell Fred and all his mates about my cages, but then i'd have to slow down and wait for them :) there's nothing funnier than a 20st monster in full replica kit struggling uphill, while going on about his carbon bottle cages.

I guess on a shopping thread the odd handbagging is inevitable...

Got my latest credit card hits delivered today:

My second Bell Sweep helmet (in blue & white this time instead of red, black & white).

+ a second pair of my favourite bibshorts, Giordana Tenax (in white/black, naturally). Looks like they're made of a slightly lighter material than my old pair, & the chamois looks to be a different shape too. Hopefully the rain will stay away this weekend so I can try them out.

Nice. Should have kept it euro and gone for a Skoda Octavia estate with the livery of your favourite pro team.

Or a 159 estate, I think (when) I get a Man car it will be one of these for getting to sportives and races.

I am a proud alfa owner for 5 years, love my 156 and it has been pretty reliable!

Dirk you should know better than to post a picture of a grey alfa, black or red are the only colors the 159 should be allowed in!

    Lazy google image searching.

Also, the Alfa reliability thing is a myth nowadays, modern Alfas are quite reliable. Unless you happen to own a nice 155 like a friend of mine, I think it's on it's second engine, which is pretty good.

I've been hearing that all my life. Alfas are the Zipp 404s of the motoring world. All reliability problems ended with the current model.

    @ Dirk, Lumen & alfalad -

Some say 'they're on a cycling forum - what's all this car talk about' and that clipless accelerator, brake and clutch pedals will be a bad motoring move but I think we might just have the three hosts of an Irish 'Top Gear' here!

Stay tuned next week when we find out if 'aero' still works when INSIDE the car!

I hope you are not disappointed to find out that FSA lie about their component weights. Although almost everyone else does too...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭anoble66

yeah, I know that from when I bought the FSA K-Force seatpost. I am hoping to lose most of the weight from my current tyres, tubes and skewers. In fact I know the FSA stem will be around 30g heavier than my current stem

Got the final parts to my XTR Groupset today including these, finally going to 9spd on my MTB:

I was very sceptical of this design of shifter when it came out but recently put some on my commuter so looking forward to trying these out! They have a large hole going through the shifter which is strange but very nice looking, will try post pic to show the hole later.

Did you receive them yet and what do you think? was considering getting the white jacket and a jersey but read poor reports on them. Is the jacket windproof or waterproof?
