Picked up a new pair of handbuilt wheels this evening from the Cyclesuperstore. Mavic 32h Open Pros laced onto Record (front) & Chorus (rear) with Competition spokes.

Had the rims for a couple of years, they were still in their plastic wrapping until last week. Hubs I picked up on Ebay over last 12 months, couldn't get a matching Record hub for the rear wheel, but Chorus still looks, and hopefully performs, almost as well.

Any idea how much it cost all together if you dont mind me asking, need a new wheelset...

€68 on labour/spokes. Rims were about €60 for the pair as far as I recall, hubs were somewhere between €250-300. About €400-430 in total I reckon, though as most of that cost was incurred last year & the year before, it feels like i've only paid the €68 for the new wheels. I know i'm deluding myself, but i suppose that's partly what this thread is about!

And what would be the weight (more or less)?

Just weighed them today on a franking machine so not sure how accurate. They're no lightweights: front - 787g, rear - 942g.

That picture has really annoyed me!

    1) He (because, lets face it, it's a he) is going to lose that water bottle bidon

    2) Surely having the same part of the wheel, on both the front and the back, in the path of the exhausts is goint to wreck his wheels and tyres.

    3) He has pulled out past the stop line. That's a personal pet peeve

On the flipside, it looks like he or, again more likely, his mechanic, has aligned the tyres and valves perfectly. So bonus marks for that.

All in all, I give that photo my lowest rating: 3 stars.

Depends. They sell gear from a variety of sources so size varies.
However when you order you must give them your measurements. They will do their best IMO to send you what they believe the correct size for you is.

I was interested in the head doctor as well alright, but saw terrible reviews when I went googling. Got a star nut tool and it makes it very easy

Stuff arrived today. The Hed Doctor was very easy to fit and looks like it should do the trick.

Very impressed by bike24.com too. Cheaper than CRC (even after postage) and a wider range of gear that I'm interested in. I e-mailed them too and they replied within 30 minutes which really shames CRC.

WOW mega bargain if these wheels are the real deal. Even if the bottle cages were really alloy they would cost over €10 and be about 40g. Worth adding that address to favorites.
Give a follow up report on how they preform on the raod please.

Mmm kinda...the rims are estimated at 700/800 grams each by the seller which was about right.
With the tyres and cassette fitted (as pic 2) they come in at 3275g for the pair.

I just picked up a CF MTB hardtail frame & seatpost from these guys - all dealt with by email and no problems at all. Payment was by Paypal and very quick delivery.
I spotted them over on the weightweenies forum, where a lot of guys had bought CF tubular rims from them.

Any idea what spokes you had them built with? I have a set of 50mm tub rims that should be built... any day now.

is it just me or is that WAY heavier than stated,
    rims= 800g * 2
    =1600g
    +hubs @ 490g
    =2090g

is it just me or does more than a kilo for spokes seem crazy?

Halford high pressure pump €24.69 (I swore I'd never buy anything in there again), the clown went to charge me for my helmet and glasses. This wouldn't be the most stupid of mistakes, except I've a happy heart on the front of the helmet.

nothing fancy or remotely sexy. But necessary. Hopefully this will see my Planet-x built up TT mode.

from recent posts, Prendas have been added to short term wish list, and CO2 cannisters are in a basket awaiting the delivery tool

rapidly developing a pain in my hole with ChainReactionCycles. As above ordered fully 11 days ago. I ring today. I'm away from work for 10 days from tomorrow, and I have my stuff delivered there. I wanted to know whether I would have it tomorrow (dispatch today), otherwise I would have to cancel because I can't leave it sitting around work. So anyway told there is a payment problem. I ask why it's up to me to contact? No answer. Put on hold, payment problem 'resolved' - i.e. no problem existed.

Am told they will dispatch today. Which hasn't happened.
