I totally agree with your every word, Fair City should have got more awards than it did and no offence to Tony but I think others should have got it. I thought Clelia Murphy would have won an award and Zumo was robbed

I agree with you on the tony part. He had some great stories and was hardly off our telly so it seemed like a natural winner, but for zumo not to win it is a travesty really is. He's been around for a couple of years now and since the start of this year, he has really played a stormer with some of the stuff he's been given.

I think Yvonne has been a much better character then Niamh, in terms of I've seen more variety in Yvonne's performances then Niamh's, don't get me wrong she's a good character but you cant beat a good bitch :D

Can I ask you, who else would you of seen getting the male award or even nominated for that fact? Don't say Louie now :D:D

:D Ah now. That shrine is long neglected. Angel will always be faithful to Louie. (And in fairness to Louie, he also has the advantage of being able to act.)

I was talking to my mother about Fair City recently, and her main complaint was the lack of male eye candy. "They finally introduce someone handsome, and what do they do? They stick him in the attic over the charity shop, and we haven't seen him since!" So I guess Avi has at least one fan.

    Two!!!;)

Congratulations to Tony Tormey on his win. I am genuinely delighted for him, he is a great actor. All of the actors in FC recently both male and female have been terrific. Zumo's day will come - love his character. FC should have won best soap. TV3 have really shown themselves up for what they really are, but I guess we all new that anyway.

I thought it was a bit of a weak way and unrealistic way for Yvonne to leave on, I will really miss her, hope she comes back in a few months.

Carol doesn't seem bothered that Tracey could leave but looking at her, she will be off soon

Loved Louie & Yvonne :( Thought Bela was a bit harsh

One of the best episodes ever!!!
Bela was outstanding. What a beautiful way he did that scene. A lesser actor would have been aggressive. Delightful acting.
Cass/Charlie were hilarious once again. LOL!@ Cass whispering the lines!
Niamh was fabulous too in the final scenes!
The episode was let down by Yvonne i think, she was weak in the crying scenes. Not convincing at all, after such a great performance during the week. Pity

What I got from that interview she did a while ago was that she wanted a break, but she was certainly coming back. I guess the good actors want to stretch themselves, and probably avoid being typecast.

Tony Tormey said much the same thing in his interview with Dave Fanning a while back. I thought he might be leaving for a while, but I wonder now if the award will change that.

I bet Yvonne will come back with a husband.

I wouldn't mind if the whole Brennan family took a long break from the show ;)

That would be good, as long as she doesn't come back with Connie

Except for Damien of course. He is part of the family now at this stage :D

Even though her exit wasn't convincing at all and I felt it let her down compared to the rest of her performances from previous weeks, I am sad to say I will miss her. Could Neasa be the new bitch in town? Only time will tell.

I bet Yvonne will come back with a husband.

Anyone particular in mind Meeja; an old character returning or someone new.

I'd like it if she came back with the fake Louie; the one that conned herself and Geraldine. Would be typical Yvonne behaviour.

I liked Yvonnes exit; there wasnt anyone else she could have shared her final scenes with. I thought she shone again tonight; her scenes with Bela were terrific.

Bizarre the amount of time devoted to Christys spuds; just disappointed we didn't learn what names he gives to them. Signs of discontent from Carol there.

Barrys newspaper story next week: The return of Duncan :D

Or perhaps she might return with Richard. Another one of her lies exposed,he didn't die in a car accident, she left him for Connie.

I thought the scene with Bela and Yvonne was fantastic - well written, well acted and brilliantly done... I also thought the way Yvonne left was good and realistic (dunno why everyone else around here is saying it is unrealistic)...
Great performances by Bela, Niamh, Yvonne, Cass, Paul, Damien, Wayne, Neasa, Dean, Carol, Tracey and I'm gonna say Christy even though he only had two lines tonight...

I thought it was all just a bit too rushed, I thought it was like here is the baby, forget about me, rush me out of the soap, I just felt it was a weak ending to a good storyline, I think I would have just preferred Yvonne to leave with Ruth.. instead we have to put up with the Brennans cooing all over her...:(

I thought Louie was very sweet with Yvonne, you could tell he really loved her and cared for her unlike the others.. Niamh just wanted the baby

Loving Cass & Charlie together, they are a great comedy pairing..

I have sent a tweet to Dec from 98Fm telling him that I wasn't happy they didn't interview anyone from Fair City. He said he would pass it on. We should be promoting irish shows.

I am now in the middle of composing an Email to Ireland AM - if they are so intent on pushing the Irish theme - I'm asking as to why they do not do a soap review on Fair City but do reviews on Corrie and Emmerdale.

I was thinking of someone new, perhaps a very doddery old rich guy. Everyone would assume she was doing it for the money, and then when he died in suspicious circumstances....

But the fake Louie is a great idea. It would really bother the real Louie, and you could see him causing a lot of trouble.

I enjoyed last night's episode. I thought Tony Tormey justified his acting award, and I felt sorry for Yvonne.

Bela's speech was harsh, and it boiled down to one thing: "I care about Ruth more than I do about you." He may have thought he was doing the right thing, but it was an astonishingly cruel response to a daughter who told him how abandoned she felt as a child. I love the way the whole baby story revealed new facets of the characters, particularly the Doyle family.

And next week's stories revolve around Tracey, Duncan and Wayne. I'm looking forward to that.

Rogercar, I think that's a great idea about Yvonne and Richard. It interesting that she's barely gone, and we're already talking about her comeback.

Would be interesting; could transpire that he was looking after Stephen the whole time. He was never adopted.

I agreed with you about Bela, but maybe they feel they have already lost Stephen and don't want to lose Ruth as well and they thought if Yvonne brought her up away from them, she may go into care and they will never see her again. I would like them to introduce Stephen into the show. He would be a good addition.

Shows how great of a character she is if we are already wanting her back! I am interested to see what this new baddie Ritchie is like, we got rid of the baddie and get probably an even better one :D

So happy to see Duncan back on screen and the more we see of Wayne, the better. Louie really needs a meaty storyline to get his teeth into, he has been on the sidelines for too long now :(:(

Am liking the new grown up TJ, he made me laugh!

I emailed Ireland Am too and got this response:
Unfortunately we are unable to play clips from Fair City and this is purely down to a Television Rights issue,

I suggested then discuss the show without playing any clips and she replied
that’s something we will consider going forward
And thanks you for getting in touch with your feedback,

This just gives me the sense the TV Now Awards is purely a TV3 show. That's Ireland for you. Not sure you'd get that anywhere else.

That is what I suggested to her. It is very biased. Fair City is on top form right now and how it only won one award baffles me. :(

With a lesser budget then the other shows as well. it's annoying but all they can do is plough on and keep churning out great stories and brilliant scripts. Soon this industry will grow to respect them as much as they respect other shows.
