It would be great if there was a thread with points only in one long post and the post was "stuck" so only moderators could add to when they have time too of course and then people can use it as a help and reference
From the last few posts you can see the real difficulty in doing this, and its not just time. I was suggesting listing branded products thinking there could be no dispute!

Snacks vary in size a lot these days mulitpack, mini, snack size, "newsagent size" etc, I was also suggesting people listed calories, if they did you could figure out what size they are talking about. I always considered calorie counting easier since it is right there on the vast majority of packets.

You can look on most company websites to find info. Curly wurly 22g
    http://nutrition.cadbury.co.uk/epages/Store.storefront/?ObjectID=798325
    100kcal sat fat 2.2g
    http://points.ogo.ms/
2 points (1.95 to be exact!, just add a zero onto the end of both figures, 1000kcal and 22g sat fat)

BUT, on google, I found curly wurlys listed as 28g, and 26g, and a mini one at 14g and curly wurly squirlies at 45g. A lot of manufacturers as reducing the size of bars rather than increase price. This is a sly way of increasing price and also they appear to be "tackling obesity" at the same time, well thats the excuse they use! so many of these high points listed might have been calculated years ago. A 28g curly wurly would be 2.48points.

    hiya,
does anyone know how many points are in eddie rockets chicken tenders or buffalo wings? Also their portions of fries? Am planning in advance for a date night with my husband tomorrow!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,772 ✭✭✭Jwacqui

I wouldn't know exactly, I would say anything I said would be a guess but call them up and they will give you nutritional information. And you can then work out the points value. I did this before with them and they were very helpful.

just had craving for lasanga, realised i havnt cooked it since i started ww and am now dying for it hahaha!
was just wondering if anyone has a recipe for ww friendly lasanga? thanks a mill guys! :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 458 ✭✭ohanloj3

for a lasagne I usually make the tomato sauce with lean mince beef and tin of tomatoes, garlic, herbs, chilli flakes, peppers, mushrooms, tomato puree and beef oxo. for the cheese sauce i make a roux with flour and dairy gold light and then skimmed milk and add a sprinkle of low low light cheese. Its delicious and i point it about 9 points a slice obviously depending on the slice you have!!

Edgeinblue I would agree with ohanloj3 but I also add natural yogurt between the layers as it makes is creamier and softer without too many more calories!!!! I also use lots and lots of veg...

    Hey all...

I'm having a craving so I'm going to see can we point it!!

I really REALLY want a chicken kebab from my chipper later!

I see how they cook it and what's in it so here we are!
They use a chicken breast. It's done on a hot plate kind of thing. They don't add anything (i've watched!!!)

It's in a pitta bread. They have loads of salad and cabbage etc...

Then the part I'm not sure of. They add in garlic mayonnaise and sweet chili mayo. Now that I know is going to be high in points (but is probably the best part!!)

If anyone could help let me know! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭doctorwhogirl

anyone? Was thinking of getting it with no sauce then making my own garlic mayo at home later and throwing a little sweet chilli on it then!!!

Obviously that would be better but still no idea on points!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,057 ✭✭✭MissFlitworth

For the kebab (which, nom nom nom) I'd consider the garlic and sweet chili mayo the same as normal mayo. Maybe you could ask them to put the sauces in one tub and when you get home measure out a tablespoon of it (I think that's 3 pts for normal mayo). A tablespoon of mayo is loads and loads. mmmmm. Then just work out the points for the fillet of chicken and pitta (I'd maybe throw in the points for a teaspoon of oil here as well, that hotplate is greased with something), points for a pitta, feel virtuous about the salad, and enjoy :)

    Hi everyone,
Was wondering if someone could help me point bacon ribs? Just got some from the butchers there and was going to boil them for dinner?

    Thanks!

    Chicken Goujons??

Hi 1 breast of chicken cut into strips
    Dipped in milk
    Dipped in flour
Deep fried in sunflower oil :(

Anyone hazard a guess on the points value please?
They were yum by the way - you could also add sesame seeds or paprika to the flour...

    Thanks

Hi, hope ye don't mind me butting in but I just want to say that this forum is brilliant. I've been on and off ww for about four years or so now. And I'm starting all over again now to prepare for a holiday. All your info is great, 2pts for a bag of skips? That's brilliant, I'll be ditching the pringles from now on and having those instead!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,897 ✭✭✭Kimia

Oh pringles are the devil's food! Skips are great, manhatten popcorn is also 2 points and if you like crisps I think the low fat walkers are 1.5?

Bad crisps - KINGS! Even the low fat ones. (But so yummy)

King lites are 2points for the multipack ones and then 2.5points for the 35g pack! Not too bad if they are what you like.

    Hey all...

I'm having a craving so I'm going to see can we point it!!

I really REALLY want a chicken kebab from my chipper later!

I know it's prob a bit late but checked the eating out guide and a chicken kebab is 7points, thats including the pitta! Not too shabby.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 beccerelda

Pringles will have to be knocked on the head so :( I'll have skips and\or popcorn from now on! Speaking of which, does anyone out there know how many pts are in a cinema tub of popcorn, any size? I'm always at the cinema and have to have my popcorn so need to know how much I should be setting aside for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,772 ✭✭✭Jwacqui

    Cinema Popcorn!

    Small - 3.5points

    Medium - 6.5points

    Large - 9.5points

Butter is 5.5points a ladle. The amounts that go onto them are the following!

    Small - 1/2 ladle, (3points)

    Medium - 1ladle, (5.5points)

    Large - 1.5ladle, (8.5points)

So a small popcorn with butter is 6.5 points and so on!

If you ask for extra butter it is double the amount above!

So small popcorn with extra butter is 9.5points!!

I work in a cinema and worked the butter out by weighing/ measuring etc! So the calculations are quite accurate! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 beccerelda

Thank you so much :D That's going to make like so much easier from now on. Although now I think I might skip the butter next time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,772 ✭✭✭Jwacqui

Yeah I think definately skip the butter!!!

I see people come in all the time and get a large popcorn candy combo with coke and extra butter!!

Thats 6points for the coke, 9.5points for the popcorn, 11points for the butter and I think about 22 for the minstrels for example!

    Thats 48.5points!!

I used to be that person!! It horrifies me! Thats ONE cinema trip!! I am allowed 21 ww points a day! It is shocking!

Oh my God, that's just madness, I wouldn't be able to eat that much! I normally get the large popcorn with butter but I never finish it so I've started getting the medium and am going to try to work on just having a small one but that's going to take a huge amount of courage on my part
