It's not really, it's unfortunate but in my 20 years of gaming I've seen the PC bring so much innovation, excitement and community spirit into the gaming industry only for consoles to come along and bastardise it all for money. It all went downhill after the snes when the big corporations got involved.

    I'm praying that's sarcasm.

Done with DR, gave up after mission 7, although in it's defense didn't piss me off to the extent of Far Cry 2 did.

That makes two of us. God that was a large steaming pile of (respawning) sh!t.

Did anyone actually make it to the last mission of the campaign? I somehow did, but by the time I got to it I was sick of the game. The final mission just tops off how bad the game is.

It starts off just as any other mission- "kill AT teams and kill armor because our tanks are too vulnerable and pathetic to advance". This seemed to be the case in every bloody mission, since when do 4 man marine teams take on whole platoons, tanks and all, while all their armor supports sits back and only advances when every last enemy's been cleared, gimme a ****in' break. Finally after completing the usual trollop my commander tells me to take my pick of transport and move on- FANTASTIC, codemasters are finally gonna let me drive a ****in' tank or chopper!

I tried the helicopter first. Now for some bizarre reason, or maybe I just didn't realise how amazing my marine squad was, my squad takes over the piloting of the chopper, and instead of just being able to concentrate on shooting the minigun which I'd been looking forward to for the whole game... I have to give commands to my squad on where to pilot the bloody thing. If I wanna shoot something I have to park the chopper at the right angle and hover in one place, getting shot to bits in the process! Am I missing somethign!!?!?

Tank was even worse. Gunner again proved way to frustrating, so I drove, and my awesome marine squad sat with their thumbs up their arses as we drove through a checkpoint, not firing a single shot off from either the machine gun or the main cannon as the chinese blew us to pieces. Once again- please tell me I'm missing something!

I gave up after that- probably never to play the game again.

Just finished it there on normal...I tried really hard to like the game, but its just too bad.

No point blaming the fact that it was released on consoles too for its crappiness, its a crap on the console too, its just a really lazy effort by the Dev team or pushed out unfinished by the publishers, either way its just crap.

I Got as far as the mission where you have to rescue the pilots and could'nt get past it,the dam pilots would'nt follow me and kept getting killed  and it pissed me off so much I uninstalled it,good riddance to it.

Okay so i've just got to the chopper in the fuel refinary level got my crew on board -1, but the damn chopper won't take off it just sits there until the spec ops team that is in pursuit catches up and blows the **** out of the helo, any suggestions do i have to take out the spec ops team or wha.
By the way loved that level, proper tense and when i put two silenced rounds in the back of the sentries head by the stealth insertion point was just savage.I just can't evac my team.Stupid buggy game any word on patches(ps3).

I had the same problem replaying that level last night, trying to get all POWs unharmed to the chopper...

I shot down the spec ops chopper earlier, so I wasn't worried about them, chopper landed in the distance, no smoke though, so they were alive, but miles a good distance away.

Sniped all the guys in the base except one, couldn't get a shot on him, proceeded to the LZ anyways, and when I got there, the POWs ran all over the place, 2 of them ran right for the one bad guy left, I selected 2 of my team to engage him, so they just stood there at the LZ, so I had to rush to protect them, killed the soldier, chopper lands, selected all, and told to board the chopper, my team does, the POWS run about the place.

Spec ops team appeared at the hill, and started to open fire, I had to get out of the chopper, run around to each POW, so that he would follow me, then back to the chopper. Once I was in, the POWs proceeded to walk casually into the chopper while taking fire, amazing they got in and off we flew. The AI stinks in this game.

Traded this for DiRT2 on friday, good riddance. Terrible game altogether, and one of the biggest disappointments of the year. I was expecting so much more from this.

It has it's moments. And when they come it makes it all the more frustrating when you realise how good the game should have been.

The terrible AI and apalling graphics let it down in my book.

And the fact that I constantly get shot by a bush. The PLA must be issued with x-ray specs or something.

Same as that, its a major disappointment, but it was ok.

Have yet to give Co-op and MP a go, and I might wait until this patch before attempting hardcore.

Yeah the bush shooting was comical- first thing I noticed. Not exactly what I expected from the "extremely polished AI" we were promised. I can't recall another game where it's as bad as it!

Is there a patch coming or are people just hoping for one?

There are ammo crates around and in the tower on the ground floor, you should find a SAM launcher in one of those crates that can be used to take it out when its in range.

Once you get the lock on continue the game its impossible to miss.

    realistic :D

...just don't call in an arty strike on the tower like I did. No ammo crates for me :(

Gotta say I'm at the naval base assault and have found the game to be quite enjoyable,If i more or less ignore my team mates and don't rely on them to do anything, essentially just keep them alive then it's quite alright.obviously it's buggy as hell but i guess i'm right at the end now, which in itself say's something as i wasn't able to bring myself to finish farcry 2,GTA4 or even killzone2.

Played it for the first time last night, just the first few missions of the campaign and I have to say I absolutely loved it! Can't wait to get home to play some more. Fantastic stuff...

Was spec ops last night assaulting the fuel depot.
Snuck up, all the way. Hopped over the wall.
What did my team do? Follow me?

No. The three spanners clearly weren't trained to scale a waist high wall, so off they went around to the main gate...

    Clowns.

So they all get killed. Good. I made the most of it and used the diversion to execute the mission. And legged it. About 200m from the pickup, guess who spawns out of the sky all around me? My team! Nice one - it was all a dream I guess.

And why can't I select the weapons I want to use - like you could in OFP1?

My three clowns spotted a jeep "200 metres, east" and proceed to abandon the stealth mission and attack it!

I take back what I said about Far Cry 2 being worse; having given it one final go last night I can honestly say it's the worst game I've bought for the 360. What's swung me towards (against?) OPF is how blatant CM were in misleading the public on what this game was. There's even been a few mentions of legal action regarding false advertising....

It's well worth checking out the codemaster forum; if only the battle in the game was as epic as the one going on in the forum. There's a large amount of very angry people on there, usually having their posts removed by over-zealous mods.

One post on GRcade made me laugh...
I hate this game and I've to tell people everyday. I hate this game so much I get up early just to have more time to hate it; I hate this game so much it gives me energy.
