Ye its border line a sandbox game.I mean yes you can go anywhre on the map but each mission just uses a tiny bit of the island.

Normally you hope for the "community" of which OFP and ARMA has, build upon the island as a base for the "actual" game to spring from.

PC gamers being unable to get online without hamachi is a disaster, not having a cd key check so anyone who was checking it out before buying can play is a disaster. Who is honestly going to buy this game now ?

DLC for this on consoles will be more missions possibly user generated by the "communtiy".

Does the mission editor come with the console version? its actually not a bad piece of software pretty much everything is in it sadly 64 entity limit and 2000*2000 multiplayer limit are in it too which is crippling for anyone trying to make a mission as they can clearly see CM did not have that limit so why should the user be limited to it. Its the user who is going to be the one creating content for this game, seriously stupid.

I used to own a modding site a a damn good one at that and tbh this game is taking the piss, OFP was all about the modding the" DLC" people on a forum made. CM have ****ed that up epically.

I started off enjoying it immensely but the single player slips into a repetitive pile of crap- with unrealistic missions, **** A.I. and just not what I expected in the slightest. Doesn't compare at all to what I enjoyed about the first OFP.

There are plenty of cool things about the game but it's all just flashy extras which in the end, don't add to the gameplay at all.

Haven't played the multiplayer yet... don't know if i'll bother.

    Consoles didn't get an editor

Of course they didn't- it would take away from Codemasters' DLC sales.

I didnt like ARMA2, but that was mainly down to how badly it performed (even on a PC with 4GB ram, quad core intel, and a HD4850), the one time i actually played it enough to enjoy it, the textures on all buildings and whatnot just started disappearing, and my FPS went to single digits etc, so i gave up. Flashpoint 2 on the other hand, is just ****. It really is retarded that you have this ENTIRE ISLAND* to explore, yet the game ties you to these stupid yellow flagged route markers, its basically call of duty but without the fun part, instead its call of duty with one shot kills, so you dont get the fun of a COD game or the sim-ness of an Arma game.

LOL at your 'review' of OFP2 in your sig. Genuine lol. :D

Just read on GRcade that the console version doesn't allow the player to explore the map outside of mission parameters. So basically what's on the back of the box about "a 220km2 open world battlefield" is absolute BS. Less and less impressed with this game the more I play it. I'm getting a definite Far Cry 2 vibe from it.

So true.False advertising nearly to call it a sandbox game. And i dunno how many vehicles where advertised in the game. You see bout 10.Half of which ya cant use.Bar one mission the only way to get a helicopter is for the pilot to randomly decide to land it and get out rather than fight ya from the air.

Thankfully the soldiers don't respawn every 30 seconds or when you turn your back on their bodies, sneeze, sacrifice a goat or think about a favorite butter spread.

I completed the game with a mate on normal difficulty last night but didnt get the achievement at the end, and the only game save I have is from the first mission when I hosted it, other than that I always played it with my mate as the host. And the last 3 missions didnt save for him either! If he goes to load up his campaign he can only continue from mission 9! This game is so broken its not even funny!

Well i'm afraid i have to go against the grain here and say i'm actually starting to enjoy this, true they lied about the sandbox it really is linear just going from mission to mission, true the graphics are sh*t, the squad A.I is sh*t.Having to hike for 10 mins back to the action after being killed is well yes it's sh*t.But inspite of all this i found myself really enjoying the assault on the airfield last night defending the village before that was also fun. So my mood has picked up in regards to this title and am looking forward to this evening when i can continue to rescue the downed chopper pilots. 'How copy Sabre 2?' , 'Thats a hard copy Sabre 1' Sabre 2 out...... by the way i'm playing on PS3 and definatly can see it has been made for the consoles so glad i didn't get for my pc.Sorry for all you guy's that did.

I kind of agree with weiland there, I just captured the air field last time I played it, and I really enjoyed that fire fight.

But definitely, the game is a big let down, mainly because I think it was advertised falsely, the screens and vids we was before release are nothing like the actual game. And its not sandbox, its as linear as Doom or something.

I'm not gonna say the game is a load of sh*te, I think its just a few years behind the times, which is no excuse really.

I originally posted to say I was enjoying this game because it was a different experience to most console FPS's ( I'm playing on XBox)

But the more I play the more I realise how poorly finished the game is.

The graphics are rubbish. When you’re moving through the undergrowth the plants look all 2D and pixelly. Like a PS1 game.

And you literally move THROUGH the grass. Look at Far Cry 2, when you move in that game the grass is 3D and moves aside when you go through it.

The AI is terrible. Twice last night my “team mates” got in my line of fire and got killed. I was supposed to be on a stealth mission to capture a fuel depot and while I was sneaking around two of the nimrods ran off and starting shooting PLA. So much for the softly softly approach.

I got on a jeep mounted gun and told my team to drive the jeep. After the driver was finished crashing into the same tree about 10 times, he would only drive as far as the marker point I set. It’s supposed to be AI, can they not do anything for themselves?

It’s full of bugs too. I was sniping these guys on the top of a hill so they dropped to the ground. The only problem is they were lying down hovering about 2 foot above the ground!

I shot a guy in the fuel depot mission and even though he was dead, he was still kneeling pointing a gun at me when I approached him. I took another shot and he disappeared! That’s another thing I hate, the guys you kill disappear after about 30 seconds. How is that realistic?

And one last question, how can they see me through a bush and get a perfect headshot when I can’t??

It’s a lot of money to fork out for a poorly finished game. They’d better have some patches coming soon!

Did anyone read any reviews that said this was a bad game? Every website I read about it on praised it, it's a bit disappointing that every website seems to be in the pockets of game developers. Where can I get unbiased reviews in the future?

I know, it really shows games reviews for what they are!

I did like this game but I sense it was more becasue I prefer these in depth shooters than anything else. If there was an abundance of them I dont think I'd have loved it as much.

The game is very very buggy and lazy in parts. Not having an animation for simple things like field dressing is very cheecky in this day and age.
Given the size of the battle fields i can forgive some of the graphical let downs.

Its def a game if you like the subject material then you will like the game. If your more into Gears than rainbow 6 then you'll hate it.

So Rainbow six is not a tactical shooter no?
It doesnt have a sqaud based gameplay mechanic?
Its doesnt have real time squad orders being issued?
It doest have an emphasis on team based intelligent shooting?

They are not IDENTICAL but they are both tactical shooters making them similar.

They are not arcade shooters such as gears or Halo.

But to say if you like tactical style shooters then you'll like Dragon Rising is incorrect :pac:

Whats your problem? You completely misquote me the first tiome around and when I show where you were wrong you come back with...."ya but but but"???? wtf.

Your taking this too literally, like any game you will have more affinity for it if you like the style or subject matter.

Lots of people hate prototype but love spiderman web of shadows... basically the same game with different clothes. If you like spiderman as a theme then you'd obviously prefer that to prorotype simpy the fantasy of playing as spiderman would be more appealing to you than alex mercer.

Same thing here and thats what i am saying... if you like the idea of a tactical based shooter, based around open large battlefields with squad core mechanics you will warm to the game more than if you didnt like that mechanic.

    Tactical implies tactics.

The best part is when you die and press continue on mission 5. It returned me to the start of mission 2 and will not let me continue my campaign unless I finish missions 2-4 first grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. In the bin for me.

I can't believe how short the campaign is. Considering the nature of the game, how hard would it have been to make more missions? People make great missions for Arma 2 in a matter of days.

It's pretty clear what they did was take out a load of content, so as to sell it to suckers later as DLC. We bought a platform not a game. They probably removed the use of vehicles, so as to sell a vehicle based DLC mission pack later.

I will be thinking twice before buying a console port in the future. I really don't like the way the industry is going with this DLC crap. Some people ask if PC gaming is dying. I wonder is the question really: are consoles killing gaming?

    Annoyed.
