To be fair the cameras are a good bit over eye-height so it's equivalent of someone looking over your fence/garden wall with a stepladder

I was looking for directions to Anfield in Liverpool the other day and came across this Street View. Very impressive. Hopefully the Dublin version will be launched soon.

Personally I think it's sad that countries like Germany by virtue of their privacy laws aren't participating in this project and in time they may realise that they have been left behind.

not too sure about that - google streetview cars are going around a ton of german cities right now.

I thought that this was only for cities and towns. One of those cars drove past me today but I live out in the middle of nowhere.

its not just towns - zoom into america, and you'll see a ton of coverage of rural areas.

you can virtually drive around smalltown america on the roads of oklahoma or kansas.

Saw the google street view car just outside Kells, Co. Meath this morning just before 8 am. It was heading out of Kells on the Moynalty Road. It didn't appear to be working though, as the cameras had covers on.

It was a red 08 or 09 Astra I think, no branding or logos.

It'll be good if some of the more rural parts of Ireland are put up on street view.

I saw one of the street view cars in Bray this morning, it turned from Vevay Road into Boghall Road and then into Bentley Park at about 8.10. It was a red Opel Astra 09 D.

The suspension seems to be stiffened on it, when he went over a speed bump the car went over like a go-cart. That cant be very comfortable to drive!

Saw the Google car going north over Suir Bridge in Dublin, last Friday at 10.25am. At least it was sunny...

Pretty sure birds eye photos are taken by planes actually.
They are very good quality and allow you to view a building from 4 angles which is pretty cool.

They started mapping in April hence by the 6 month rule, they should be going live soon.
However if people are still seeing the car going round then it could be a while yet. I hear they are covering every public tarmacked surface in the country which could take a while.
It'll make Google Maps Navigation for Android extra accurate in Ireland.

I wonder when will they be up. It's well past 6 months at this stage.
