Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah that would be me. Went on bebo a lot for the first few weeks then got bored of it and haven't really been on it at all since then except to decline friend requests from random people.

personally? I hate the goddamn things. What a waste of time! There are two kinds of users.....

    1. The kind that has it for the sake of having it, and really shouldnt seeing as they never bother to log on.

    2. The kind that cant go a day....or a few hours without checking their comments.

    Does anyone remember email?!?!

Seriously....I have a Facebook, Myspace AND bebo.

I got the Myspace and facebook purely so I could view some friends photos. I never used the myspace. I got the bebo while travelling one summer because people are too lazy to keep in touch through a quick email. Instead they spend 4 hours straight commenting on a social networking site??
I got the facebook for photos....and kept it because everyone ditched bebo and move to facebook, so I need it when I'm away from home.

Seriously...I'll give a cookied to the next person I meet that actually uses email on a regular basis.

The only emails I get from real people are bullshít stories about some randomer dying or going missing or something. Or they're about the internetz exploding if the email isn't forwarded to 74.5 people. I hate getting emails.

that is because you are young. and have proven my point.

young people stick to social networking sites, and have email addresses for the sole purpose of signing up with forums, social netoworking sites etc.

young people dont use real email anymore.

and you wonder WHY all you get is spam....

All my emails tend to be Emails from various social networking sites, telling me I have spam in that Mailbox!

I am nowhere near young anymore, but i really like facebook. I can keep in touch with people I would never really email. I have practically left my bebo, just left my email on it for contact.
Myspace is really only for music heads, really don't like it. just can't get the hang of it at all.
Family are the only people who keep in contact with me via email.

I convinced my closest friends (along with myself obviously) to all just delete our bebos in one swift movement. While at first I was kinda apprehensive about losing contact with some people and losing old photos and all that... don't miss it in the slightest. It got to the stage where it was adding unnecessary drama to life. Going from "Why did he move me down in his top friends" to "he can't have me in his top friends" is a nice change!

I would never give up Bebo without first backing up my photographs. Too many memories!

  • Registered Users Posts: 45 marzabar

I copy and pasted the pictures I didn't have backed up and sent a mass message out giving my email address so if anyone felt the desire to stay in touch they could. In retrospect, shutting it down wasn't really "swift". Well worth it though, free from the shackles of bebo!! Whoo!

Bebo's been really annoying me lately. Everyone used to be good and update their page regularly but now most of my friends' pages would be exactly the same for days and weeks. It's so boring. MSN all the way! It's so easier to talk to people with. But having said that Bebo's good for what a few of you have mentioned as ''Bebo-stalking'' (Just seeing who that new guy your friend's going out with is kinda thing).

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 327 ✭✭zoom!

They're pretty pathetic tbh. Why would you even bother using them to chat to people, why not just use msn or ring them?

Facebook isnt the worst cause its plain and doesnt offend my eyes.
    Bebo & Myspce though?

I have both Facebook and Bebo, have pretty much stopped using the latter at all though. Much prefer the simplicity of MSN or that ol' gem the mobile telephone... Although I suppose social networking sites do prove rather useful when contacting friends abroad or keeping in touch with old friends... Hmm...

Uh, yeah, mm, facebook is like, WAY more mature than bebo, cos like, it's a different colour, and a different layout like, so, even though it still barrages me with bull**** quizzes and games when I log on, it's like, yeah, this is mature.

I hate facebook snobs. I'm now on bebo, twitter and facebook. They're all the f*cking same.

No spam on Facebook (For me so far)

I'm on Bebo, that's it really. I can't say I use it much anymore, but I'm a bit sentimental about deleting it: I have had it since 2005.

I'll never join Facebook are any of the newer ones (and I'll probably end up deleting my Bebo in the next year or so).

P.S. Can somebody tell me if I'm going mad or not: I remember joining a social networking site called Facebox (or something like that, and no it wasn't Facebook) about 3ish years ago. Anybody remember it?

Had a Bebo. Deleted it when I realised it was full of idiots and whores....

........Maybe my friends are just a bit shit

I've become addicted to Facebook since discovering the applications. I now have to compulsively check my virtual Mafia on Mafia Wars, check my virtual farm on Farmville, check my game of Scrabble with a random stranger and try to beat my top score in Scramble. :o

Oh, and I sometimes talk to friends on it too....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭discostick12

I love oul bebo and facebook! Don't really see the point in them to be honest, just to catch up with friends who I havn't seen for ages!!

I rather facebook though as its much neater or something, don't have to wait ages for some ones page to load up like bebo because they have a million quizzes such as ''what letter will your next boyfriend's name begin with''.

Myspace is cool if your into music and up and coming bands but other than that its a bit boring.

Think I just stick the boards and MSN for now on :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

I just use my bebo to stalk people and chat with friends.

    :)
    Its alrite like.

I love all those sexi gurrrls, they're so hott. The only thing is when I try to look at their pages or comment back, they don't let me. It got me thinking, maybe I'm coming on too fast and they're beiing scared off but then I remember they're asking me to look at their thong and other stuff... :(

On a serious note, I recently got into facebook and much prefer it to Bebo. I rarely go on Bebo now. I like the lack of profile view whores and luv-whores. Facebook is Bebo's much cooler, more mature older brother. Plus, farmville is awesome.

I use Bebo to chat with friends, look at photos of some event I was at that someone else took, stalk friends and just be nosy in general. I'd prefer to have it than not have it, because taking away all the flashy nonsense, it's a very useful communication tool and great for someone to run a social life from the comfort of their own home.

I got an email from Bebo this morning saying that I've broken some rule (which somebody has obviously reported) and that my profile will probably be deleted in the coming days. I don't have a clue what rule I've broken though, as I rarely use it anymore...

Anyway, there goes four years of Bebo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

Ever since I went to college last year I haven't even touched my Bebo. Facebook is far and away the better site these days imo.

Everybody says things like "Oh, Facebook is so much more mature than Bebo", etc, but in reality it's the same old bullshít. Games and quizzes and causes and 14 year olds from school whom I've never spoken to adding me. I like both Bebo and Facebook, it just annoys me when Facebook users look down on Bebo.

Well to be fair, that can mean something:

Would technically mean I'm straight edge.

Used to be a Bebo fan but then group invites got infiltrated by spammers and I keep getting invites to at LEAST 20 groups a day, and kept being added by 12 year olds so transferred to my facebook a/c. I like it :]

    FarmTown > Farmville :P

My bebo page is more for a laugh than anything really. And I use Facebook to stay in touch with a few friends who don't have bebo. The million notifications really annoy me though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

Ive got 67 views on my bebo page in the last 5 days which is a record for me! :P
I rarely go to it on my computer. Just use my mobile. Same with boards.
Check it alot tbh. Email notifications are so annoying though. And when weirdos from different countries add me, i just decline.

Put most of my pictures not visible to anyone but my friends. So people must think im abit odd seeing only albums of gaa and random photos when they visit my page :P

THIS is the kind of thing which makes bebo a load'a balls.

Ooooh, look how many profile views/ friends/ luvs I have!
I'm not in his Top 16....
DOES THAT MEAN HE HATES ME?!

I was just stating something. No need to go biserk. :)
You're just basing these things on a group of people. Not everyone that joins up to bebo is obsessed with love/views and friends. Its called a communication tool. :D
Was just suprised at how my views went up, thats all.
    Chillax:D.

Having a good chat about vodka here. Damn you for reminding me that this site exists, so addictive.

I used to be addictied to bebo, I set it up back in 2006 when it was fresh and fun but all the silly changes they have made to it make it look silly. I usually log in and just keep it in a tab but I'm rarely being active on it.

I use facebook alot more now I think it's ten times better and I found my American cousins on it so I can keep in contact with them which is brilliant:D I can lock any info I don't want certain people to see only the people I know and trust can veiw it so bonus their.

I have also tried other social networking sites but I would only log on every few months for a glance so may start deleting them soon.;)
