Exactly, she's not coming over on holiday though, well unless the tickets had happened to not sell out. ;)
I really fear for all those Miley fans though all the same, Wednesday and Thursday gig in Dublin in the middle of the Christmas party season, oh dear.

But the person in question did miss out, so there goes your idea.

Your knowledge of how the ticketmaster site accepts being bombarded with connection requests from the same IP address over a short period of time is obviously minimal.

I believe my experience is greater than minimal considering my sucess in gaining muse, killer, U2 tickets recently all while refreshing my page until the tickets came on sale..... with no problem.
The issue here is that firstly a great proportion of the tickets were gone beforehand on presale and aswell as that the ticketmaster site still isnt developed enough to handle such a demand in such a short space of time, not because you refresh your page a few times to kepp it updated. Do a survey of ticketmaster account holders and you will find this is normal practice and works 90% of the time.

It would seem that we are doing something wrong or the system is doing something wrong. How can we explain that "Fishy1" got hers at 9:25 and the rest of us were being told that all tickets wer sold out by 9:01!

Because "Fishy1" didn't give up at the first sign of an error page. Just becasue the page says nothing available does not mean they are sold out, only that there are non available to book at that moment probably becasue the rest are all waiting on other people to compelte their bookings at that time.

They are not sold out yet though by the looks of it, still the American Express tickets available.

Are everybodies clocks showing the correct time? I got three at 09:03, no wait. The awful thing is, as I used my credit card to book them I have to go.

    lol, same here
My gf & 10 year old niece haven't got a credit card between them, so I had to use mine :P

I feel for people that didn't get em though. My internet in work crashed & the ticketmaster phone system seemed to be down as well. Got in eventually but was sweating at the thought of dissapointing her.

FWIW, I got tickets for London @ 9.20. A friend used my PC 2 mins after me and tried all venues, all days and couldn't get anything.

I kept trying even though they said they didnt have the tickets! I tried till 9:30 and still told no:mad:! The ticketmaster system isnt able for the demand and their phoneline were down from 8.55 on!!

I am talking from a purely factual technical point of view about handling connection requests, if you had the same understanding then we wouldn't be having this conversation. If you wish to discuss it further PM me.

I got two tickets...fantastic, but was after 3. Went on to ebay and there are a good few for sale. Knowing the anti tout measured in place I wondered how these people could be offering tickets for sale so asked a couple of sellers the question. In fairness one responded saying they were going and had a spare so could get you in with them....if your the trusting kind!....the others said some bs about the security not being able to check the tickets and they couldn't refuse someone with a legal ticket.....

Guess what i am saying is treat ebay sellers of these tickets warily.

    The ticketmaster T&Cs below...
    1. The tickets purchased are for your own personal use only and may not be transferred or re-sold to any other person or body under any circumstances or used as part of any promotion or competition or for commercial gain. Where there has been any re-sale or attempted re-sale of any tickets (or any other breach of this term), we reserve the right to cancel the relevant tickets with immediate effect.
    4. Upon arrival at the venue each original purchaser must present the actual credit/debit card used for the purchase along with their tickets in order to gain entry to the venue. Failure to present the valid card may cause you to be refused entry to the event.
    5. There will be no exceptions to the above, no name changes or letters of authorisation will be accepted under any circumstances.
    6. The original conditions of sale will be enforced. Tickets are non-transferable under any circumstances and any resale or transfer, or attempted resale or transfer, will invalidate any ticket purchase made.

Tried to book online from 9am but no joy. Its my daughter's 9th birthday today and we were hoping to be able to tell her that she'll be going to see Miley Cyrus as she is mad about her.

I wonder how many tickets were actually available to buy this morning, i..e those that weren't pre sold or only available to American Express cardholders (and what is the deal with being an Amex cardholder as I don't know anyone who has one of these).

I suspect that they may add another date or two when they see the demand so are there any tips to pre booking, or whats the deal with the O2 customer priority thing and how can you get tickets through this (by now you'll guess that I don't go to these concerts and am not familiar with the ticketmaster ordeal - it was so much easier years ago when you could drop down to the Point and get the tickets in your lunchtime).

I feel there will be another date at least added, she was always going to be in huge demand.
Im not sure what the story is with american express...especially in this country..seems mad.
The o2 priority tickets are available for people with an 02 sim..you register at blueroom.ie and you get a text with a password for concerts in the o2 and you can then use the password to get the tickets 48hours beforehand.
The problem was miley cyrus sold out immediately on these tickets 2:mad:

If you're a 02 customer, register here. Up to 15% of tickets are reserved for each gig at the 02 in the form of a presale usually two days before general release.

If you failed to get tickets it does not mean you did anything wrong or that the Ticketmaster systems are broken, just that there are less tickets available than people that want them. Someone will miss out.

Thanks for clearing that up - although it is not an error page. It does say "keep checking back" and it has a Back button.
I think what is happening is that the ticket master web site has a number of connections open to the internet - could be any number - 5 to 500 - I dont really know. Lets say 5 for example. This is like 5 checkouts in a HMV shop except you are not allowed to wait in line. When you click on "Find Tickets" the system checks if there is a free connection - if a checkout is available. If not then you have to click on the back button to go back out to the internet and re-join the other thousands of people and try again. So with so many people and so few connections it is just pot luck who gets there first. But I think the message is - keeps trying - for how long? - I dont know.

Well, Im delighted I got 2 tickets this morning. Queued in the rain from 5am, but its my daughters birthday the week before, and she is a HUGE fan, so well worth it. the guy came out, took names, and at 9, printed off as many as he could. He said that if they were to physically sell them one by one, no-one queuing up would get them. Surely actually going to a TM outlet gives you a better chance. Although Im not techinally mind, it could not be possible that TM outlets are trying to access the same system as the online public? Surely you have an increased chance if you q for them? Just my twopence worth, like i said im not a technology whizz.

In my mind, if you try to access the TM website, or the phoneline, you have to wait to access their system, but in an outlet, they have direct access?

So sorry to those who didnt get tickets, fingers crossed for an extra date. And I agree with the anti-touting measures, but surely there is a better way?? For example, actually putting a full name on the ticket, and then having a condition that you need ID on the night? As oppossed to the card holder having to attend. I imagine it excluded a lot of people who only had cash, esp in these times?

I really hope the new anti tout measures work but I can't see it happening. I've been to the ryder cup, champions league final where new measures were brought in like bring your passport and I strolled in on a ticket I bought from friends. Lets just hope she adds more dates if she can.

We had a nightmare trying to get 02 Dublin - hubby queued from 5am this morning and was 14 in line at TM - failed to get Dublin tickets (he was the first to miss out - he is gutted) I tried online at 9am but couldn't get tickets for Dublin - managed to get two for Birmingham so at least the daughter will see her. Just tried again now and there are still tickets for London available - it could be a nice Christmas treat?

My mam queued at 2.45 this morning, was 9th in queue and we got a seat at the very back... how did so many people manage to buy so many tickets? it's ridiculous.

    OK, to recap around here:

-2 Miley Cyrus dates sold out. There is high demand for these gigs and demand exceeded supply.
-The word on the grapevine is that Miley is using the extra days in Ireland to celebrate her birthday. See article here. So it is unlikely that there will be extra dates.
-Some tickets for gigs like this are set aside for friends and family of the artist, record company or management. If they aren't taken up, they are released for general sale, usually without notice and usually closer to the concert date so if you keep checking TM, you might get lucky.

Your guess is as good as his. They could put on another gig as the first one obviously sold out quickly so they'd make a ton of money on it. I'd say they'd put on a second o2 date though, but it'll be just as hard to get them tickets!
There already is a second date which went on sale along with the first date this morning.
