I'm taking my 12 year old sister, her friend and one of my friends are tagging along too (purely for babysitting purposes ...*shifty eyes*) We're both 18 but I'm a little concerned about what tickets to get. I know my sister and her friend will want pit tickets, and so do my friend and I, but how safe would it be to have two 12 year olds in the pit?
I was there for Counting Crows last month. Completely different crowds, i know, but it was quite tightly packed and hot towards the front.
What do you think would be the best option for me? I want them to have a good time but I don't want anything to go wrong or anyone to get hurt. Also, what time do you reckon we'd have to queue to get to the front? We arrived to Counting Crows an hour late and managed to push through but something tells me with a gig like this there are going to be a lot of excited little girls trying to get as close as they can.

- do you think i could get front row tix if i buy them on o2 priority today? i know it was open to the fanclub yesterday or the day before

Row A and G were on offer for the most expensive.

I'd like to know why ticketmaster tells you they are holding your ticket for another two min. You click continue with a 1:30 left and they say sorry these tickets are taken....

Well what did they expect putting priority tkts available for both Miley and Fleetwood Mac at the same time and day. Not much thought put into that plan.

You can still buy O2 priority tickets through Ticketmaster. The O2 Blue Room site just links you to Ticketmaster's site.

Ticketmaster mentions something about an American Express presale that starts tomorrow, might be too late to sign up for an AE card right now.

With all the presales for these things these days you'd wonder whats left for the general release!

Touts will be having a field day with these gigs.

Only so many go on sale for presale. As in say its 500 . then 500 has to be distributed between the 3 places, not as if each gets 500

Your comment is pretty ridiculous really, I won't explain why.

Anyhow, O2 make available 10% for their presale for each gig in The 02, so thats roughly around 1,900 tickets between both of these gig alone to O2 customers.

Actually, they might not. Just heard that these gigs have anti-tout measures similar to the Tom Waits gigs last year.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 482 ✭✭heffo9

Yep was in ticket-master in town talking to the guy behind the desk, he said with the anti-tout measures, you have to have formal ID when purchasing the tickets and the purchaser has to attend the concert and present ID on the way in, your name will also be printed on the tickets. Bit of a drastic over the top measure, guess it makes sure the little brat gets every cent available.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,050 ✭✭✭gazzer

I was going to get tickets for my brother and my nephew for this. Do you reckon these will sell out very quickly. I was going to q up at one of the ticketmaster stalls rather than trying to buy it on line. Dont fancy having to get up mad early to q though. Would 8am be enough time?

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭eamon234

Priority tickets sold out in 3 minutes. By the way priority tickets don't necessarily mean better seats so may be better off trying on Friday anyway.

yup this is correct, just got off the phone with ticketmaster and they confirmed it.

you need your credit card and government id when you attend the concert, the card will be swiped to verify it.

don't think its "to make sure the little brat gets every cent" at all, its to stop people buying tickets and selling them at inflated prices.

we booked our tickets in our moms name because we used her credit card (and shes not coming with us),but they haven't been posted yet so i rang ticketmaster and the guy was able to change the name to my name thankfully!!

1,000 for o2, 2,500 for fanclub, not sure how many for AE but i'm guessing somewhere between 500 and 1000.. so theres still a lot left for general release but they will be snapped up pretty fast if the presales are anything to go by

10% of both gigs were made available to 02 customers, thats approx 1900 in total.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 130 ✭✭melissavm

I'm really annoyed. I tried to get them at 9 but the website was down, had to go in for my french exam at 9.30... my mam tried to get them when she got into work but they were all gone after about an hour apparently, so now i'm stuck queuing outside my local ticketmaster, possibly having to do it overnight just to get ok seats.

i still dont know why people queue outside their local ticketmaster..i know theres chances of the site being down but if you try booking via the internet and phone surely one of them will work and be faster than standing in a queue?

good luck getting them friday though!! i feel bad for people who want to buy them to surprise their kids/siblings/etc then don't get them :( maybe ye will get to bump into miley around the city..shes planning on having a big birthday party here (shes spending an extra 4 days in dublin when shes not playing shows!)

oh yeah, i meant per gig
so roughly for both gigs.. 2k to o2 people, 5k to fanclub, 1-2k for AE, then whatevers left for general release!

I was planning on buying tickets for my aunt and little cousin on friday morning as she will not be able to get to a TM. I didnt think there would be a problem. Was going to que at ticketmaster about 8am. Also, if I manage to get tickets on friday morning does it have to be my name on the tickets or can I tell them to put my aunts name on the tickets?

I could get her CC information and try online though. What time do they go on sale online at. Is it also 9am?

it is indeed madness but the support band sold out the olympia in one day so they'll probably have lots of fans buying tickets for this too!!
tis indeed madness though. what it would be like to be 16 and in such demand:eek::p

you can't buy tickets at ur local TM agent for someone else i'm afraid!

whoever is going needs to get the tickets themselves.. ie. if your aunt wants togo with her daughter/son she needs to go into her local ticketmaster and bring her ID and CC with her, her name will be printed on the tickets and she'll need her ID and CC on the day of the concert too

however if you book online, just get her CC details and make sure you use her name for the tickets and it shouldn't be a problem!

Thanks for the good wishes! I don't know I'm just afraid the site will be down again. I really don't want to queue but it's a risk i'm willing to take if i have to. I'm going to look into booking over the phone though, i didn't really consider that. Thanks again!

don't think so according to most sites! just type in "miley cyrus tour paperless cash" and you get a ton of sites saying you can only pay with a CC.
You can't pay with cash or write a check.

Don't have a credit card? Sorry to hear that, especially if you're older than 12 and, for some reason, are dying to see the show. A preteen without a line of credit must be accompanied by a willing credit-card-carrying adult.

heres another site about it: http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/consumer&id=6854993

we bought ours with a 3v card.. www.3v.ie when i called i mentioned this to the guy and he said it was fine just bring my ID and the voucher (even though they cant scan it..) and it will be okay. maybe u could try get one of those? not sure if you can pcik them up in person anywere,it takes them 10 days to post them out :(

yeh i know what ya mean, on monday when i tried gettin the tickets i kept getting "sorry your request could not be processed" errors for at least 5mins then it went back up,but i can only imagine friday there will be a lot more people trying to get the tickets!! i think jobros sold out on the general release day after 10mins..but they only had one show here and miley is having two,so hopefully if u queue early u'll get a ticket for one of the shows!!

while i think the limits of buying tickets are good for getting rid of people who want to buy tickets just to make a profit..it also sucks for a lot of families who don't have CC's or don't get tickets on time! like at least if you miss out on tickets for other concerts you can find them online (usually for twice of what they cost originall but its worth it to some people) but with this..if u dont get tickets friday u dont get to go!!

sorry for the essay:p

from the TM site:
Ticketmaster accepts American Express, Mastercard, Visa and Laser Cards. Unfortunately Ticketmaster Ireland does not accept Switch, Maestro, Solo Visa Delta, Visa Electron and Diners.

just make sure whoever owns the laser card will be attending on the day with ID (and you must book under that name as it will be printed on the tickets)

Because of the ID requirements we won't be allowing resale of spares on Toutless.

I reckon there will be small resales between now and the date on ticketmaster so if you don't get them on Friday keep an eye on ticketmaster especially closer to the gig date as reserved industry tickets will become available. Also if shes in the city for 4 days I wouldn't be surprised if there is an extra date or two but we shall see.

The important thing to take away is anyone offering them for resale through unofficial means can not guarantee your entry so don't throw your money away at anyone who suggest they can. Arriving on the day to be turned away will be a far more upsetting scenario than any other.

agreed with the last part!

but the reason she is staying here for an extra 4 days is because she wants to see ireland, this is going to be her first time here and thats why she's taking those days off. plus her birthday is at the end of november and since she is touring so much she won't have time to celebrate,so shes going to celebrate it here! i really doubt they will add another date especially since she wants to take it easy and chill out here...
Miley Cyrus will celebrate her 17th birthday with a four-day holiday in Ireland: Miley is due to jet into Dublin on December 16 for the first of two concert dates at the 02. Since she will not get to mark her November 23 birthday properly due to her marathon concert schedule, Miley has requested a four-day rest period so she can take in all the Emerald Isle has to offer. The Irish dates were included especially at Miley's request.

Can anyone advise what to do to be in a decent chance of getting tickets online for this gig? eg set up a ticketmaster account today, log on early - what time? ... I'd love to bring my kids to this! Thanks

I'm still stuck on whether or not i should go down to my ticketmaster outlet tonight/tomorrow morning and wait or risk getting them online. Which would be the smartest? I'm wrecked from the last 2 weeks of exams and would kill for a long night's sleep but i think it might be worth waiting? Do you think i'd get a good ticket if we were ready to go at 8.59 online?

• Closed Accounts Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭niceirishfella

Well, if you queue, you can see how many are ahead of you, unlike if you were online.

you need to be on ticketmaster at (or before) 8.59, keep refreshing the page and at 9.00 you will see the "find tickets" link, click it quickly and and enter the seat info(if you want tiered or flat seats)asap once it finds your tickets they give you like a minute to decide if you deffo want them so they hold them for that minute.
my advice is when you pick which seats you want make sure its on "best available" and take whatever is given to you because with the presale..i had seats at the very front then i got a ticket master error and within 30 seconds i was being offered seats for row L and M so they get snapped up real quick and if you refuse the tickets youll probably get offered worse seats when you try again
also on the presale the tickets for the 2nd date were being snapped up faster than the first day.. i tried the second date originally cos i thought "everyones going to just try the first date so ill go for the 2nd and get a great seat!" but it seemed that everyone else was thinking what i was too :p
good luck getting them!!

personally i wouldnt even bother going down to your ticketmaster outlet, the queues here for jobros were massive (some people camped out overnight to get tickets for their kids!!) and i can only imagine some parents will do the same for this..and lets say you get there early and theres only 20 people in front of you..think of the time its going to take the person at the TM booth to verify everyone (they have to check their CC and ID) and then enter all their details to print the names on the tickets..and while this is happening its happening in hundreds of other ticketmaster places around the country!!!
i would just try and get them online but be alert and awake, take the first seats you are offered because if you search again and are given bad seats or its sold out you'll regret it!! good luck:D

Queue up with a laptop & a mobile usb broadband stick and your phone.
That would give you the best chance ;)

Serisously though, I got U2 tickets online and while it was busy, the site didn't crash, you just get an updated message every so often like "this queue is X mins long" and eventually you get in.

Logging on to the site at 7:30 or 8:59 won't make any difference, just wait for the "on sale now" message to appear and click the link and choose your seats as fast as you can.

Another option (although they will probably sell out fast also) is go to England to see her. Especially if you're not from Dublin, flying to and staying the night in London wouldn't be much more expensive.

logging on at 8.59 won't mean tickets are on sale but it will mean you can get the link straight away, if you type in www.ticketmaster.ie and then look for miley cyrus and click find tickets at 9.00 thats going to waste time. just keep refreshing the site at 8.59until it hits 9am and the link changes

I got u2 tickets online, no problem, went online about 7:55am [on sale at 8am], refreshed from about 7:58am [in case my clock was a bit off], got tickets straight away, no queue, no crash!

I just noticed on the MIley Cyrus tickets on ticketmaster it says the cardholder must have ID and be going to the concert, I buy tickets on my parents card and go myself, there's never before been a problem, why now?

Anti-touting measures. They don't want people buying them just to sell them for profit. It does suck for people who have a legit reason for not going (who can't resell tickets) or for people who want to buy tickets for someone else as a present or whatever.
